That's my gen 16710.

It's the lack of AR that creates the effect. I can assure you, the WM9 dial is exactly like the gen.

The only way to call the WM9 out (for a hardcore Rolex expert) is to take it off, handle/examine it carefully and compare the bracelets. Gen is smooth as butter (as you know). The rep bracelets never quite feel the same... no matter what mods you do on them. It's a mystery that remains. Visually, it's nearly perfect in every sense.

What a day. One of my best friends died yesterday. He was only 44 years old.

Brain cancer. His wife just called me.

What makes it very unfair is that it was his second cancer. He had a thyroid cancer when he was 25. And this brain cancer was completely unrelated to that. Some people simply don't get very good playing cards for life.

This guy lived extremely healthy lifestyle and was one of the best and most honorable, unselfish men I've ever known. We can always name a few that nobody has absolutely NOTHING bad to say about... this guy was one of those people.

He spent his last months in a pallative care. I knew about this illness since the day one, but I was wondering why stopped answering my phone calls... he didn't want me to know. He didn't want to cause stress to others.

Just imagine to get a disease like brain cancer... you know your days are numbered. And you have to live 2 1/2 years with that kind of fact.

Sometimes we think that there is some kind of "ultimate justice"... and good people will get rewards for their respectful life... from the "Lord" or "God" or something.

When I think about my friend's most terrible fate and years of suffering, I have to say that I don't have much faith left... what happened to him... well that was full of shit. I don't know what to say.

Easiest way to tell between gen and rep are the SELs.

Gen SELs are slightly recessed. Rep SELs are on par with the lug height. NEVER any exception... they're all the same.

No... I don't think so. There's nothing I like about it. Besides Pro bracelet and the case.

Is this a Steelfish replacement? If it is, it's a terrible downgrade from the Fish (which still remains my all time favorite diver watch).

Absolutely horrendous Invicta-like dial & bezel. All originality and "Breitlingsque" design is gone.

I just recently bought a "hobbyist car" BMW E39 and fell in love with the brand again. E28 still has "special place" in my heart as E28 528i was my first ever "nice car".

My wife doesn't wear a watch anymore, but she once posed with a rep DD.

I got a new company car. Mercedes E200 CDI. It's brand new... but I liked my '06 car better... it had better suspension without a doubt.

Then I bought an immaculate "Alpine white" E39 BMW 525i... model year 2000. It's much better car to drive, than my new Merc. The only thing missing is the low RPM torque, which is superb on the Merc.
