  1. Thanks D.

I love my BMW E39 though. It's an awesome car. It's now in my father's garage. I found new leather seats for it.

And when it comes to handling, I actually liked my old Merc E better (2003 model). The new E-klasse has way too soft suspension. It's a taste thing of course, but I prefer harder... more "German" suspension. This drives like a big Peugeot 605/607, without the French cruisers' unique comfort. And the interior wood parts are black.

This is the "Avantgarde"-model though. Maybe that has something to do with it?

  2. I think Rolex wants Tudor to be more "independent"... and that their models wouldn't be any longer Rolex "little brother" versions. That's too bad. I think the old philosophy was much better.

On the other hand the new Rolex designs are equally ugly, so it makes no difference either way.

  3. I'm on holiday so naturally I've been watching every single game.

The tournament favorites are of course Brazil and Argentina (who's hosting the Copa this year).

Uruguay and Chile are the contenders. Uruguay has Forlán (who was great in the match against Peru) and Chile has been playing great under Básile's command.

    Here's some Copa America history:

Argentina: 14 Copa America titles (26 times in the final)

Uruguay: 14 (20 times in the final)

Brazil: 8 (19 times in the final)

    Paraguay: 2

    Bolivia: 1

    Colombia: 1

Another interesting statistics is that in the great football rivalry between Argentina and Brazil, Argentina is now leading 34-33 in the all time wins (in all tournaments & friendlies combined). Brazil has a chance to even things up in this tournament (providing they meet in the knockout stage).

  4. How I wish it is a t-dial version :clapping:

Why? Super Luminova dial is much nicer, and the lume on the older watches is much more effective than on the tritium version. T<25 watches also have non-SEL bracelets.

The one that you posted has super luminova dial.

  5. Some people speculate that this "era" of Rolex will increase in value.

It might, but I doubt they'll ever become true collectible pieces like the Paul Newman, Orange Explorer and 1680. I don't have any facts but I suspect the production numbers are simply too big.

But for me personally, the 16610 and 16710 are the most desirable Rolexes. I understand the attraction of the plastic crystal models but this "modern era" was Rolex at its peak, design wise.

I would never buy a new Rolex again. Those fat lugs models have lost it, unfortunately. They screwed up because they tried to improve perfection. And that's not possible.

That 16610, however, is pure perfection. Is it a good investment? Probably not, but I doubt it will lose its value, either.

    Go for it! :good:

  6. It's a cliche, but enjoy every day you have. Life is short.

    Wise words.

I was 20 just a few moments ago. Now I'm suddenly pushing 40 and my friends and relatives aren't getting any younger, either. That's pretty scary how the time starts to fly after 25.

And when we get older we just have to sacrifice more and more. Family members and friends go... I'm happy that I have a son. He alone makes the life worth living. I didn't realize how important the kids are before I got one.

  7. Thanks guys.

Not that I wasn't prepared for this. I knew his days were numbered.

His wife told me that if I just knew what kind of pain he went through in the last few months, I'd be happy for his death. His spine cracked, among other things (because of osteporosis caused by the radiation therapy, medication, whatever). He couldn't walk or even move his hands. Constant pain.

What pisses me off that a great human being had to go through this. His wife is a great person too... this is a man who respected life, his friends and relatives. Then there are people who disrespect everyone around them and live happily for 90 years.

Religious people always say that there is a "meaning" for everything. But when something like this happens to your friends or family, you'll get a bit skeptical.

  8. You got that right mate.

Brain cancer is probably the most terrible illness anyone can get. Just imagine what kind of feelings you're experiencing when you first hear the news. Then you and your family have to live with it.

But if there really is a "better place" somewhere, my friend is definitely up there right now.
