  1. I understand too that Panerai offers litlle or no discount. However, the price list you shown earlier seems to be a bit different from the price I got from the AD. The Pam 112 was after discount, US$4200!

I do not doubt the accuracy of the price lists posted on "risti". The June 2008 price list for example is a scan off a paper a.d's price list provided by the Richmond group (mother corp of Panerai) to a.d's. The 177 was $5800 and the 112 was 4800$. The retail prices of all/most models are jacked up every few months.

I posted a topic about 5 months ago before purchasing my first PAM, where I could get the best deal on a BNIB PAM in Europe, the answer was no where, list price with a free strap is the best deal you could possibly hope for was the conlusion.

I have no clue how you a.d. can permit to sell well under retail. I have read is that it is expected that the luxury industry is going to get hit hard by the current economical situation. Just a wild guess but, maybe they are offloading as many pieces as possible to bulk up there financial buffers for the expected bad days to come? Who knows, but if you are happy with the piece and the price I would not ask to many questions...

  2. I was actually there for a long time. Was suppose to be asking about an IWC Ceramic Ingy for a friend. the price was around US$5630 while the Big Pilot when it arrives next month, US$9700. 3717 on SS bracelet is around US$3900. This was a model that not so long ago was selling at full or close to full retail price around here due to popularity. Seems like good prices. I do not know what the discounts are like in the States but here, its like 30% + 5%., can be even better for different models.

she mentioned they use to keep all the historical and base Pam models as they were sold to regulars even before they displayed them, well not anymore! It does seem that the global financial crisis is hitting the watch retailers hard!

Under normal circumstances you get no discount at all. On my PAM000 I got 5% discount because I payed with a bank transfer not with a cc, as cc companies usually charge the retailers 5% commission on cc payments.

  3. I have been to his store in the Hague, he had some very exclusive vintage watches on display at the time I visited his store.

    - Several double red vintage Rolexes.

    - Rolex Paul Newman' s.

    - PAM Big Eginzano.

    - PAM 5218-201a.

    - PAM 5218 White Dial Slytech Panerai.

    - Vintage brown dial Radiomir with Rolex movement.

    - Radiomir 3646.

    - AP Royal Oak offshores.

    - And many, many more high end rare pieces.

A real shame he got robbed, read on his website a few months ago that 2 watches where stolen from him including a 50K+ Patek. How much bad fortune can you have in a short time.

These guys highly likely knew his store, knew who he was (you can recognize him from a mile away), and knew something or two about high end watches.

  4. The guy natnat in Hong Kong has listed them and they are probably tritium from the colour..

If you are interested, ebay item number: 130261155330

These hands are Tritium, based on that the power reserve indicator is arrow shaped. The Luminova version of these hands have the leaf shaped power reserve indicator.

Strange of you to say this.

When i got lots of gens in my collection i felt a cold shoulder from some here some are very trusted and long time members.

Maybe some cant handle other peoples good fortunes?

    Cheers

Felt the same way when I posted pictures of my second gen Panerai recently.

I was very jazzed when I got the watch and chose to share my experience here, not to show off but out of true enthusiasm for the brand, and a feeling that after approx 3 1/2 years I was a part of this community.

It occurred to me that the majority of the hard core Panerai click, did not bother to wish a long time (rep) Panerai and now (rep and gen) enthusiastic well on a new chapter in Panerai collecting.

  6. Very happy with my latest purchase. Last week with no intention to buy a watch I walked in to an a.d. in my neighborhood. I went in to ask if I could try on a Big Pilot, as it has been one of my long term goals to own one. I tried on the Big Pilot 5004, which is an awesome watch, but was just to big for my wrists. It just looked clumsy on it. Once there I saw they had a PAM000 on display. It was love at first sight, the logo dial looked amazing to me. Anyway at the time i talked myself out of getting it as I had recently got a myself my first OEM PAM (the 116 pictured).

During the next week the thought of getting a spanking new PAM000 haunted my mind. Last Friday after some heavy consideration, I caved in and decided that if it was still available I would get it. I went to the a.d. this morning and it was still there, after a small chat with a sales man I had it on my wrist. After some more chit chat, a free strap came to be discussed. I had mentioned previously to him that I had seen the PAM000 on a watch forum strapped with an OEM blue gator, and that I loved the combination. Thought the chance of him having one in stock where slim to none. To my and his surprise after browsing there PAM strap box one of the last straps he pulled out was the OEM blue gator... The rest you can guess... Happy as a pig in sh... with my latest toy...

    Hope you enjoy the pics...

    Regards,

    RR
