  1. As an Oz expat I must say I am overwhelmed by the generosity of the members of this board and indeed the world community in general.

I am travelling home to Melbourne next week but in the meantime I am in contact with my parents regarding the events.

The main message I'm receiving is that just about everyone either knows or has friends, relatives of someone who has perrished or lost their home.

In a world I perceive as growing more selfish and self centred I am now reminded that deep down people still have the milk of human kindness.

Thanks to those members who have put this together.

  2. Love your work Ziggy. Really love it.

I look at pictures of real Fiddy's and think nice watch, probably my fav.

Then I see yours and think wow! This is really interesting.

One can buy a gen, and get a cheapish ETA movement. Yours has a piece of your skill and determination installed

in lieu of a mass produced movement.

    One to treasure.

  3. I have a UPO, the 45.5 size model and purchased all the gen parts I could.

The watch and parts were sent to Ziggy for a service and installation and during servicing Ziggy confirmed that the movement was indeed a gen Swiss ETA but it was gummed up and about to stop working.

This watch was brand new from the dealer.

All has worked out well now that Ziggy has serviced the movement(runs to within +/- 1 sec/day) but the total bill for all the parts and servicing means that you could save up some more cash and buy a gen from TZ.

  4. I'm looking for a gen dial (white number/black dial) for my UPO. Anyone know a good and trustworthy place to get these? Also...anyone know if they fit perfectly. I don't know how to install it either so if anyone of you guys can refer me to a forum member who can, I would appreciate it greatly. Thanks.

I purchased the same dial your seeking from Ofrei.

    Part number: OME-2500-Dial #3

This is for the 45.5 PO with the white numerals.

Price around $230 and could be a four week wait.

I took a different route than Lani, I just made the order online by adding the part to the shopping cart on the online shopping facility.

I had mine installed by Ziggy during a movement service.

Word of advice, don't go overboard as I did with gen parts on these watches. Without Ziggy's service the watch would have ground to a hault within days due to a filthy dirty gen ETA movement.

Ziggy does recommend replacing the crown and tube also.

    Hope that helps

  5. I probably went a little overboard with the gen parts on this one, rush of blood to the head. I guess.

Thought about a gen crystal also but decided to go with chiefs AR and I'm sure I won't regret that decision.

The pics look fantastic and I'm sure even better on the wrist.

As usual I'm really grateful to Ziggy for his work and I think he's been a little modest about what he has done.

That bezel wasn't a straight swap.

Intersting point about the movement, the watch was brand new from one of our collectors and un-worn.

    Pays to have a service.

  6. When ever I receive a new watch it goes on to the wrist for a day to confirm I actually like it, then into the box and not used again until Ziggy has done a service.

Last piece I sent was a less than 3 months old UPO with a Swisss movement which was all gummed up.

When I put on a watch I like the confidence that all is operationg as it should.

Part of the appeal of a mechanical watch is knowing you have a precision instrument on your wrist and the fact that it could all

sieze up or wear prematurely doesn't fit the philosophy.

  7. My first 111 was a sausage and I wasn't happy so I ordered a 111H with a sandwich dial.

When it arrived I started to think that I actually like the sausage better.

They are a different look and my inclination is towards the sausage as the dial has more prominance at angles other than straight on.

The sandwich is easier to relume but the sausage can be relumed well also but it's not a home job.

You need to see both to help make up your mind.
