I went to the Finks the other day and tried on the original and OMG I fell in love. How is the quality on this piece and is it waterproof, can I swim with it?

Looks good but:

The description of the bracelet on the Tag website says "Triple-row bracelet in satin and polished steel. Double security clasp with solid steel folding blade. The models with a black or silver dial are also available with a black rubber strap with a pin buckle."

That sounds to me like the clasp on the date only model which is the type that has a security bar like this:

Does anyone know for sure if the clasp pictured on King's site is the correct one??

Just found some more images and can confirm that the clasp on King's images is correct.

I'll post a thread in the Tag section when I get it. I'm hoping the quality will be the same as the current crop of Tag super reps. It would be nice having a decent Quartz watch!

Btw Armin, did you try refilling the etching with paint once you removed it?

I have a gen Tag Link Chrono with some small scratches on the tachy bezel that I want to try and polish out using Cape Cod. My only concern is, will the Cape Cod remove the black etching?

You might want to check this thread on TRC, a member there claims to be able to get modding, including re-luming done for EU based members. I haven't used him so this is not an endorsement but maybe worth a look.

By-Tor, actually I think it might be correct -I just saw a shot taken at Basel07 (which I now cannot find!!) and it looked like it might be raised. Try searching for some Tag high res shots from Basel!!

Looking at the logo, is it raised or printed on the dial? I've got the smaller gen Aquaracer and it's printed. King's shots looks like it's raised?

I sent a message to this guy to tell him he'd been rumbled, he replied saying that he didn't know it was a fake but he was going to pull the auction to check it out. Just checked and it's gone.

He's even stupid enough to show a pic of the lugs with the standard rep serial no. 816880298: Reported.

I don't know how many different sources there are for these watches but if the information from this dealer is applicable to all the others then the implication would be that when current stocks in dealers hands are depleted all new orders will be powered by Sellita movements. Personally I don't see this as a problem providing of course that they are accurately described although I don't know if there is a price difference that should be reflected in the price of the watch.

Update - I've been away or busy for most of the weekend so sorry for lack of information. The dealer has been extreamly helpful and resolved the issue to my satisfation. At first the offer was to replace the watch with an Eta version, which he didn't have in stock, but the supplier has come back and said '..all ETA 2824 watches now come with these (Sellita) movements..' therefore I've decided to accept a refund.

I'd not be upset about getting a Selita, to be honest. In 5 years, when your watch needs a service, spares will be more common than for ETAs.

Not really upset about the Selita movement, its more about getting what you ask and pay for.

This is the very reason I will not fork out the exrta for 'swiss'......you just never know what to expect for all that extra dosh.

Do tell who supplied / duped you.

To be fair, the Selita is a Swiss movement, I have one in a UPO that runs perfectly although that was also sold to me as ETA.

I'm waiting for a response from the dealer about this and I think its only fair to see what he has to say before I name him.

you said you got it from dealers based outside of china...but are those dealers present on the rep forums or not?...

it sucks big time to see that the mvt isn't the one that has been advertised..it's a scam!...you expect to get what you pay for...

imagine just how much members do not open the caseback to check the mvt...me for first..i can see only those with a see trough caseback...and even those mvt are not anymore to be belived what they are advertised for...

The first one I bought (unworn) from a member on the forum but he told me it had come from one of our UK dealers, it was described as Swiss ETA and that's what it is. The second I bought from another dealer, and just to clarify the point, he didn't advertise the watch but my enquiry (several emails) to him about the watch specified quite clearly that I wanted to buy the watch with a Swiss ETA movement. It was obvious that there was a difference between the date fonts on the two watches and that's what prompted me to open the back and check the movement.

does the datewheel have serifs on the font?

Serifs on the ETA, the Selita is sans serif.

I've just received my second Breitling SFSO (yes, second! I gave the first one to my father, azerbyjam sr.) and on checking the movement, found it to be a Sellita rather than the Eta, as I had ordered.
