  1. Has any one bought one of the new Vacheron Constantin Overseas reps with the Miyota movements?  I have liked the overseas for years but have not bought one.  I'd love if someone could post a review.  I remember the man flaw of the old one was something to do with the date window.  It is probably 3 years since I last logged in here, so I am totally out of date on reps.

  2. Seems like a good deal............. for Apple: "At the current gold price of about $1,175, wrapping 2 ounces of gold around its watch technology would cost Apple $2,350 per timepiece."

The gold-edition will cost between 11.000 and 18.000 euro in the EU, including almost 3000 euro VAT. Suddenly the SS submariner became just another (almost) cheap watch......

I doubt there will be even 1 ounce of gold in the Apple Watch.  The Rolex President (including the bracelet) has about 2 troy oz of gold in it, and it is significantly chunkier than the Apple watch.

The apple watch will appeal to the same people who bought those virtu phones from a few years ago.

Maybe some of our modders here will start gold plating the steel ones.  Looks to me like the case design is the same.

  3. I have used Aliexpress a few times in the past, never for reps, but I think their payment system ali pay works quite well, and if I remember correctly, the buyer has to release the money to the seller upon receipt of the goods, which provides reasonable buyer protection.

I agree that the price of reps has gotten totally out of control.  I still like this site for the knowledge of the sellers, but it is two years since I bought a rep.  More and more, I have been buying vintage gens, as they cost about the same as some high end reps.  You can buy a good vintage swiss watch for $700- $1000.

I am shocked by the prices I see for reps that I bought 5 years ago for less than 1/3 of the price.

  4. I agree, it is a pity that almost all of the good reps are of sports style diving watches.  The few dress watches that are repped are often 38mm watches, where the rep is 42mm.  A good reverso rep would be nice to find.  Also reps of other dress watches which do not have display case backs.

  5. I bought one of his Birkins for my wife as a gift, and is was great quality, far better than you would expect for the price.  I do not know if his mulberry bags are of the same quality, but I am sure he would tell you if you asked, as he is a very nice guy, and willing to help you a bit with your choices.

  6. I have the BK one and love it.  It is worthwhile getting a DSSD waterproofed by a modder, as they are usually not waterproof at the HEV.  It is also worth while re glueing the pearl on them, as they seem to pop out easily.  A quick search will give you some info on this problem.  I used a two part epoxy glue to re glue mine, best not to use superglue.

The genuine DSSD has no AR coating on it, so I would not worry about that.

  7. How accurate are the Rolex Day-Date II Reps.  I recently saw a 218206 with Ice Blue dial in an AD, and it is a really beautiful if awfully expensive watch.  The Day Date is only available in precious metals.

    I love the president bracelet.

Do the reps have hallmarks etc on them?  What are the big tells?  I have done a search and it seems the Day date is not a very popular watch on the forum.

I am guessing there will be a fairly obvious weight difference, but what else should I look for?

  8. rrari1 You have made your opinion known fairly well in your prior posts in this thread I asked politely for restraint till this was resolved, now here is my opinion: personally I think guys who post here for a year and do not contribute by paying membership to the board are freeloaders on my dime and efforts. You want to dance try me he is not here to defend himself. :pimp:

paneria153 Fair enough just wanted to clarify my position in the matter.

    Happy to leave Mike.

  9. The modders here are doing an honest business, repairing and improving people's watches at a fair price. Only a real jerk would want to interfere with someone's business and livelihood like this, because he I offended over not having a Tudor brand forum.

I think this is well deserving of a lifetime ban from all rep forums on which he is posting threats.

I presume he has their address and PayPal details because he did business with them in the past, which makes him a bigger [censored].

    Good riddance.
