Picked up two 6mm Rolex crowns, and what I thought was a 703 crown. When they arrived to my amazement it was a rare 700 crown. Not too bad for about $60.

I would say a gilt dial 1016 is next on the horizon...  I just love building these Explorers!

I had an extra 1601 case laying around and decided to build a Space-Dweller:

Specs are as follows:

Gen 1601 case, and crown, Drilled lugs, JMB Bezel, Yuki Dial, Clark's Hands, and a Seagul 2824-2.

I had a 2472 I wanted to use, but sadly the Cannon Pinion sat too low for my liking.

I prefer the cleaner look of a 5513 myself, but if I had to guess one of the many reasons the 5512 is so adored is because Steve McQueen wore one.

BP SD today:

5500 Explorer for today. I got bored today and switched out the Rafflestime or Yuki hands (I can't remember) for a set of Clark's, looks better to me anyway

In my experience adding a gen crown/tube just feels so much better when compared to the stock crown/tubes our reps come with.

I built my 1016 with a 16013 case and a 2783 fit like a glove. I'm thinking a 2846 may work as well. They seem to be fairly plentiful to boot...

So, now I would like to get directions to mod this to perfection, if possible.

What would you change, mod?

- dial opening? To small? Worth changing?

- crown? I think it is good but not gen. Need to change?

- Insert? Good enough?

- hands? For me the biggest tell, need better hands!

- dial? What gave it away as a Yuki?

- crown guards? Yes, fat but too fat? Specially for a late model?

The "S" in Submariner gives it away as a Yuki dial for me. 

I've seen them on ebay. However, they do not seem to give the depth of their dies in the measurements.

My current press won't work for Submariner retaining rings as the dies aren't deep enough. Anyone know where I can pick up a cheapish set of dies deep enough to work with Submariner retaining rings?

The date jumps when moving the hands manually, but when it comes to the date jumping when the watch is ticking, it doesn't. I have to pull out the crown and only then does it jump over for me.

My most recent watch, a BP SD has been running like a champ and keeping excellent time, perhaps losing a second a day, which is fine in my book. However, there is another problem. It seems that I can move the date in the quick set position, and manually when moving the hands, but when it approaches 11:55-12:00 the date will not jump over. If I pull out the crown it will make a quick jump then into the correct position. 

Any ideas what would cause this to happen?
