  1. Seems like a really good idea to me but why not go the whole hog? Get the 127 glass and a gen bracelet et voila!

The yuki dial fails me on the DW, the mag is 1.5 and it helps "mask" the misaligned DW. Plus the service crystal is epoxied on! I wanted to keep as many things as is Sony can turn the mod around easily if I wanted to.

  2. When I read that the 1680 and Tudor Subs shared the case, it gave me the idea for a franken:

Use a yuki dial on a Gen tudor.

Lucked out and found a local seller of a 76100 and sent it to my smith with a yuki Dial.

The gen Tudor came with mercedes hands so I left those in.

I was going to replace the crystal and install a 127, since it had what looked like a service crystal.

Compared to my Snowflake the tophat was noticeably lower, PLUS the magnification was less on the cyclops.

But eventually I left it alone because unfortunately, the DW window did not align.

The 1680 red dials window was bigger and right justified as opposed to the Gen Tudor which was left justified.

Since it is for my own fun, and the dial mod is reversible I decided to go for it anyways.

    Here is what I got:

  3. I test drive reps to buy gens. But sometimes I go the opposite direction if the rep is that good (or good enough)

I test drove APs and fell in love with a gen Panda when I tried it on.

I own the gen Sea Dweller and recently acquired an Ultimate SD (check out my review).

Now I want to sell my gen SD for a DSSD, after trying out a Noob DSSD.

I've never bought a gen Panerai, even though I could. because the reps have always been that good.

  4. This is the reason why The only mod was to lift the pearl out. To me the pearl was the only thing that bothered me on the bezel.

Bezel is good enough as it is.

The point of the whole review was, for $128 it was a great rep.

By the way, I kept my Gen. It's just taking a long hibernation in the safe for now...

  5. I Saw that thread a few months back. I am a member there since I have/ had gens....

I thought he used an aftermarket dial and hands.

I also mentioned that frankens like these are common in vintage and that I would avoid buying really expensive pieces because of the Frankenstein practice...
