In the beginning of the story, the teller informs us that "Asian people" have a way with questions that seems very rude to Westerners. Cultural stuff.

Just got back from chateau d'Ivoire in montreal to remove a link from my 19mm rivet band and put it on my phong v727 vintage daytona. I was wearing it with the oyster band. Ive never done this before but I figured hey why not, his reps are spot on so I wasn't too worried. After removing the link the watchmaker asked me for the watch to put the rivet band on. I was nervous but handed it over. I could tell he was checking it out and even took time to inspect between the lugs as he swapped bands.. He was going on and on about old daytonas and said you have a very rare dial, referring to the pn dial. I felt so good, he gave it back and never for a second thought it was a rep. With phong he could have even oppened it and not realized... I've never been called out but I used to own many gen's so it was a smooth transition
Watchmakers know. They just were kind to you.

I owned a gen GMT2C and traded it in (+cash) to get my gen AP Panda...since then, I have regretted it.
Now I have 3 GMT2C reps and they are scary close to gens. ICHS aside, not too many people can call you out.
Great watch both gen and rep to buy.

Congrats! I love my Gen:
-
I'm sold. Ordering right now

As for Rolex, id counter that they are so common and accessible (affordable) that they are the best to rep(wear).
-
I've been called out for wearing GENS.
This. Lol, I've been asked a couple of times while wearing gens:
"is that real?"
Smh

That ghost bezel is damn sexy
-
looks like the first one has a service dial and the second is all original
if so, id pick the all original.

Playtime with my kiddos:

One member replaced the crystal with a gen crystal. He had to glue it in though.
No good solution for this.
Did he test for "waterproof" after the mod?
One of the strengths of this rep is we can swim with it.
-
Anyone knows if its possible to replace the crystal with a more gen like one?
I am going to try when I come back from my cruise. Was also waiting on my digi caliper to measure the lip for the crystal

Now this is what repping is all about...passion.
Great build and wear it in good health. cheers!

North of $1k, you can find used ones in TRF for $700-$800 or so

Andrew/Josh do not have a CHS of the 16570. I bought the Polar 16570 from Andrew and the ICHS is buggin me right now.
As for why bother with a rep? because I do not want the "same" watch in gen. I wanted a white and black explorer "set"
Thats my Gen PVD 16570 on the right.

Lighting is everything in photography, but...
Left is Gen.

What movement are you guys using for CHS for a GMT Master or Explorer II?
My Gen has, top to bottom:
SEC > MIN > GMT > HOUR
my rep has:
SEC > MIN > HOUR > GMT
Really bothers me the GMT is bent slightly up so it can clear the Hour Markers.
What movement are you guys using to replace it? If so, where did you get the hands?
Or is the alternative to find a CHS Hand set and keep same movement.

Whats Memorial Day without BBQ and Pool time!

Fidel is a Rolex nut also...

Is the seller a Prince from Nigeria? Or has a law student brother in London?
I would not divulge that kind of info. Trust your gut, it's usually right.
-
I never understood people who spend 1/2 or even a 1/3 of the price
of the gen to build a Frankenstein.
Call me crazy.
Half the fun is doing the mods yourself, so OP stick to the josh 1655 and build it yourself:
-1655 dg2813 $150
-1675 yuki dial $150
-2813 Mercedes hands from Clark $10
-25-116 Clark Crystal $6
-WSO complete Bezel $160
Under 500 great rep. Some case slimming and CG reshape and it's good to go.
GMT2C, the only Modern Rolex got right!
