  1. Awesome, thanks for the info! I noticed that River hasn't updated anything in...some time. Does he have a site, or another way of knowing his current inventory/pricing?
  2. Hi guys, I really love some of the vintage Pams on the forum, especially the radiomir versions. Aside from images of the beautiful builds by Henio and Marlin though, I'm having trouble finding any info about good watches to start with how-to's, etc. I assume that the going rate for a finished piece is at least $600+ depending on the movement, etc. So if I was considering doing my own vintage-inspired watch, is there a complete one you would start with from a TD? I'm not necessarily interested in 100% historical accuracy, but I would like it to have a good movement that will last. Any suggestions? Thank you!
  3. I mean in terms of its resemblance to the genuine article. For as long as it lasts, I bet the 21J will keep reasonably accurate time.
  4. For those who may not feel like looking it up...
  5. Well, it depends on what you're looking for in a rep, maybe. No one is going to accuse this watch of being overly accurate, but I've had watches with Asian 21J movements run for a surprisingly long time. It's probably not one you're going to be wearing in ten years, but at least you didn't pay $1000 for a AAA super double deluxe rep. That movement looks more like a 2892 clone than a standard 21J you'd find in a $108 watch, so I'm kind of curious if it will actually look like that. That doesn't look much like an IWC movement so I wouldn't go out of your way to show your watch-savvy friends, but for a nice-looking dress watch you could do worse. I no longer buy the cheapie reps because I'd rather focus on watches that have a good chance of lasting for some years and warrant servicing, but it's not a bad way to start looking at reps. The only thing with many of them is that they're frequently not quite as accurate as some more expensive ones, often coming down to the date wheel on these less-expensive movements.
  6. Looks good to me, there's not much to go wrong with these as long as the hour markers are pretty straight. I just ordered one of these myself.
  7. Apologies in advance if you're talking about someone else, but if not-- It's not a link. It's the first site to come up when googling "perfect clones". Josh makes no secret of his site address. It's in the dealer section.
  8. You may have found this out if you've explored this site more, but be aware that Josh's site right now is 1-pc8838.com. Perfect-clones.net is, amusingly enough, a fake site for reps. I'm he still sells fine reps...but it's not Josh, though he'll tell you it is if you ask him.
  9. The Ingy is a great watch, and would be the perfect IWC to penetrate your cherry. If you do get it, I would strongly recommend getting the Lello datewheel if it's still available, as this changes the watch from a good rep to an almost-perfect rep that you'll love to look at.
  10. There is no mod that will elevate the datewheel to be flush with the underside of the dial, period. As someone stated earlier, another set of gears is added to the top of the movement to move the date to the bottom, similar to the 7750 mod. So, to recap--it's not going to ever be flush. It will always be recessed.
  11. Just be very careful with the hands, as the rep hands scratch VERY easily. If you plan on re-luming it in the future, or having someone else do it, you might also consider getting gen hands from ofrei. They're pretty reasonably priced.
  12. How about some photos of that new strap? I'm not picky about lens particulars--I'd rather see it than not!
  13. I gotta say, that strap of Josh's looks very nice--definitely higher quality than the Silix strap. I'm looking forward to seeing reviews/photos.
  14. Rob, that looks amazing. Comparing this work to previous applications on an extremely difficult part of the watch, your already great skills have improved tenfold. I'm amazed.
  15. r11co-- There is certainly no need to get aggressive. We're talking about fake rubber straps. We are each entitled to our opinions, and if you are satisfied with the quality of the strap you have, then that's perfect. You don't need to reiterate the fact that Doc Savage's feeling about the strap in question is his opinion--of course it's his opinion. He posted it. This is all our opinions. And while that opinion was probably informed by viewing the photograph above of Silix's strap, I'm willing to guess that he's also taking into account several other people's opinions about the appearance and function of the strap, posted on this forum. We're talking about whether a given product meets the expectations of a particular individual, and I'm sorry but you can't be RIGHT when it comes to that. Your opinion is your own. MK
  16. I would go for the SS inge, NON-chrono. I personally don't feel the need to have an AR coat added to it, but lello's beautiful datewheel is probably a must. That's what I have, and I wear it almost every day.
  17. I saw in someone's review that they had installed a gen-styled black rubber strap on his 42.5mm Planet Ocean. Is a rep of this strap available, or was there in the past? I can't find any info on it. Thanks for the help! Matt
  18. How much was this? The prices are no longer on Joshua's site, since they've all been bought up already when I looked.
  19. Yes, I must have looked at the wrong one earlier. I do mean Chad's reply.
  20. Pal? I'm sorry, but are we not allowed to be critical of RG's work on this forum? The gentleman quoted above stated rightly that it's extremely difficult to relume any dial, and to make it look as smooth and even as a machine is near impossible. This makes it all the more amazing that RG was able to relume the cousteau bezel so well. But Slai's concerns and criticisms are fair and constructive, and do not warrant being lashed out at and being put on the defense.
  21. Here we go--this is a link to the same topic over at RWI, for those who don't get over there much. Over there, the photos can be much larger, so take a look! http://replica-watch.info/forum/viewtopic.php?t=31025
  22. My new Ingenieur and Lello's DW happened to both arrive on the same day, so I didn't have to sit around waiting to make this mod. There aren't too many photos of the DW installed so you can see several of the numbers, so I made these photos. Well, I WAS going to upload some photos, but the limit for photos seems to be 30K each. How is that possible? You can't even see anything on a file that small!
  23. I'm sorry, I didn't see that this was for the 7753. I only need one for the 7750.
