  1. The company that i used to work for which is a family business they all wear rolexes one of there sons has two datonas two datejusts and a hublot they saw me many times wearing my reps and he used to say hey nice watch any way one day we were talking and i told him that they were reps he stood there and said get outta here they are gen

he could not believe they were reps i was wearing a noobmariner tt blue anyway after that he got very interested in reps and often gets me to order him some on condition that i never tell his brothers or anyone else they are rep the guy drives a aston martin and a jag and he wears his reps with pride i have seen him on a number of times at meetings wearing them i asked him why would he want to wear a rep when he can buy a gen like we buy a pair of shoes he was only called out once when showing it to his brother he picked up on the bezel click sound

these guys are not like us they no nothing about details of gens or reps or there contruction they just wear them !

Bro, you need to use ur punctuation. I kinda get your story, but find it hard to read. hehe. But yes, many gen owners don't know the exact details of many models and don't know what to look for. And with high quality reps as what we have, the construction is fairly good. But except, many details are not as well made. Like what you pointed out, the clicking noise probably does not sound as smooth. But then again, you get what you pay for, and gotta mod it to get the best out of it.

  2. I have been waiting 6 months for the 15300st with a black dial. None of our dealers had this watch available with the black dial until this week.

The new model has just been released with a new lume. As stated on this thread, that was what was sorely lacking on the original jumbo models.

I should receive the piece soon. I will post photos. I sure hope the wait has been worth it.

The 15300 has appealed to me more than the the original RO simply because I prefer a second hand on automatic watches, as well as the slight increase in case size of the jumbo compared to the 15200 makes for a nicer more sporty look on this iconic Genta design, IMO.

Waiting for a new watch is so much fun.

How does this compare to the Gen? Is it somewhat an accurate rep? Any feedback?

  3. Oh, and I apologize to drag this thread further. But after looking at Toro's section, for some reason, his AP Volcano has the right crown height? Take a look at it, its flat?

    Or even his Black theme.

Am I just seeing things, or is he posting the wrong pics or whats going on? When I compare the pics to Puretime, the crown position is different.

    Can someone verify this?

  4. I wanna stay pure in the rep business ... no Franken for me!

    Dr. Theo

Great Idea too, saves u money :D

Btw Legend, Have you considered the AP Shaq O Neal? It seems as though the crown seems correct. But the dial color seems to be alittle off. What do you think?

  5. My white theme is currently not for sale, but with the limited gen AP parts, "expensive" needs to be re-defined.

Just ask the rest who own an AP franken here. Its fast becoming an ultra-limited type of watch.

Of course, when the price represents a significant percentage of the gen watch price, then I would not consider getting/building one either.

+1, and yes agreed with you. But i also think in absolute value. hehehe, damn u!! U just persuaded me not to get a Safari Rep! Argh!!

  6. I find that Hublots are nice, but then again, taste is something very personal isn't it.

Get an AP franken then! lol

Hehe, Your silver theme is too expensive :(

And I can't find one out there. But I'd rather get a Gen IWC or PAM with that price tbh. hehe

  7. AP is not the only brand, especially when it comes to white dials. To me, I am at the stage where the ROOs with the typical layout I wear (round pushers with crown offset) are either gens or frankens. I have reps of cos, but belonging to the category which I mentioned in my previous post. The Safari is not a bad choice at all honestly. Just that looking at your posts, it seems to me that the rep safari would not last more than a month on your wrist, when you see the flaws on the dial right away each time you check it out. ;)

The Hublots are much more accurate in my opinion in that aspect. But again, my gripe with them is that they are uncomfortable to wear.

At the end of the day, it very much depends on what you are after. I still think a franken would tend to serve your needs better, if you are not considering a gen at the moment.

Very much agreed buddy :) You're starting to know me even than I know myself :D hehe..

And to add on, Hublot's design isn't exactly my kind of tea. Even the gen looks like a rep. Sorry Hublot fans :inverted:

  8. I would suggest, if you are troubled by the same flaws as I am, but not considering frankens

    a. Any of the JUAN Pablo Montoya series

    b. Survivor

    c. T3

    d. Ruben Barrichello ( this one would look very good after some dial mods!!)

And no I am a learner myself mate!.. Guys like Madred, Watchmeister, Zorrolondon etc, they are the guys who are armed to the teeth with the knowledge on AP watches. Me? I browse the catalogues and compare pics with the reps. :D

Give me a ride on that Ducati someday. :D

    Hehehe, funny :D

Thanks for the suggestions. Indeed your selection does have its accuracy, I assume it is because of the position of the crown, and how its not as obvious as the other reps. I was actually still thinking about the Safari, although it does bother me. But I don't have a watch with a white Dial yet, except for the Cartier Santos 100. But I don't feel that watch everyday, needs some kind of occassion to wear it, whereas the Safari seems to fit nicely with my daily wear, except of course, as you mentioned. The flaws are rather obvious to us :( But then again, I know I cant afford a Juan pablo montoya at this point, but a Safari is still in reach. For me, I wouldn't want to acquire a rep I could not afford, but your input is highly appreciated :)

And about that future Ducati, bring your own oxygen mask, as Jakarta is one hell of a place to ride a bike. Like smoking 1000--> :pimp: at once.

  9. Sadly, whoever we vote for doesn't actually matter. In both scenarios, both presidents would fail to bring what they promise, and continue kicking the can further forward.

    "Fiscal Cliff!"- tomorrow

    "Healthcare problems"- tomorrow

"America declares bankrupt" Hopefully not today.

  10. Hahaha, looking to acquire an AP rep after handling a couple in the "market" in Indonesia. I mean I could have bought one right then and there, but I wanna support our TD's although it does take longer to come, and I'd have to make the trip to Singapore to actually receive it. Do you have any suggestions or a basic List that you'd classify as quite accurate? After all you are one of the AP masters :D. But your guru Watchmeister really got me thinking. It's quite true that I would not get a gen AP not because of the price per se, but because of that opportunity cost. With that price tag, I'd rather get a Ducati :D. But that doesn't mean I won't be considering a Patek in the future :D

Oops forgot to quote you legend.

  11. This rep is good enough in my opinion. But again it doesn't matter how well your rep is if you can't pull it off who's gonna believe its gen anyways haha

True, but I guess the question is that if it is a super-rep or an accurate rep.

Actually quite interested in the answer. Experts are welcome to answer :D

  12. Oha ... old thread this is.

My obesrvation on the MARCUS: the red is actually BLOOD RED and quite similar to gen. Only the usual flaws and; with this color combination even more flashy flaw ... the color on the numbers need to be filled and sunken in (concave) .... the rep has them filled but raised (convex).

Anyway, I would go for the rosegold version on this. But if you need to go for this combination I can suggest the LAS VEGAS to you.

Look at my thread here on RG:

    http://www.repgeek.c...ad.php?t=141511

    Or here on RWG:

    http://www.rwg.cc/to...roo to choose

    Dr. Theo

P.S.: I ask to pin my write-up on RWG as well but never got any response.

Hows the LV in terms of accuracy?

  13. Confession: I called out on someone rep before.

So I took a glimpse at it, and I knew that his seadweller was a rep. I was quite convinced because of the back color on the bezel and it didn't reflect the way the gen does. Its hard to explain but the gen has a different feel to the black. I didn't get a chance to look at it closely or inspect it. Anyhow I kept it to myself for a long time, (my parent's potential business partner) I mean I knew he could afford one easily by the approximate income he was receiving. But one day in a casual meeting, with 4 of us talking about business as per usual, Someone popped the question. " So which one of the Rolex'es is gen? " At first, I grinned as i knew mine was gen and his wasn't, but he claimed he has another which he bought at Swiss that was Gen. (To diverge, We were, and still good friends,(all of us) and I think we felt comfortable with each other to be honest and straight forward)

He said claimed that his was Gen, and so I just said, "well you're gen is at home and I smiled". And he continued to pursue his was a Gen and that he got it used. So I asked to inspect his Rolex SD and begin explaining to him the faults that he had, starting with the reflection, the engraving on the bezel, etc. He didn't buy any of it, until I showed him his movement, in which the hands would reverse in the opposite direction when you turn the crown in a direction. (I learned this from the dealer which I bought my Rolex from) I'm sure not all rep movements are like that, but this one so happened to be that way. He was stunned for a minute. I felt bad and such a **** for pointing it out in his face, but it was just in the moment and I also knew we were comfortable with one another such that we wont really humiliate or put down a person for wearing a rep.

He then continued by saying, he bought it used from a friend who said that they were in need to pay for the medical bills, and he sold it for cheap. Furthermore the sale included boxes and papers he said, and therefore he was convinced it was gen. In other words, his friend scammed him. Then the discussion changed and we were giving him credit for helping a friend in need, and that the money spent on the watch was well spent. In the end, I felt bad, not knowing whether I should feel worse revealing the truth to him or whether what I did was ethically questionable. But in the end, we are still good friends, and he thanked me for teaching him a new trick about the movement. But in this sense,I think that sometimes calling out reps without any evil intentions or bringing the person down might have a "ok" outcome. Or am I just justifying my wrong deeds :(

    :bangin:

  14. At the moment Silver and Gold are quite volatile and quite unpredictable. Too many forces in play in many unstable economies, US and Europe included. Commodities are not exactly a safe haven to go to, although there are opportunities. However, if you are looking at a retirement plan, I wouldn't go into commodities, look for something with smaller Beta and less risk. You don't want to lose what you have left :(

  15. The Noob V3 is so good, the so called "Panerai" expert in my work said its GEN.

    I just keep quiet.

    CC0FAD0D-3B4A-4AB9-9BE2-18CBD3C0100D-3004-00000368C85EBB9C.jpg

Here with a GEN OEM strap

    Very nice!

Generally, "Panerai Experts" who do not deal with reps would probably not know the good reps are reps, as they are often looking in the wrong places. From what I've noticed, the reps have everything the gen's has in terms of the 'big picture'. And most people are just staring at the details and hoping that they'd find a "FANERAI" or a crooked P, or something in that context. More often than not, the errors in the reps lies in the minute detail, such as the engraving isn't as deep, or the CG isn't as sharp, or even the lever. In which, many times it is easier to spot if you have a gen next to it, and know what you are looking for.

So to answer your question OP, the Pam111 looks good on the QC, though there might be slight errors, as the other members said above, finding a PAM111 V3 is hard to begin with, and those minute errors are not easily spotted, even by PAM experts. So if it looks good to you, go get it, esp given the nice serial number. :D
