  1. Is it viable to just buy someone's old ETA Sub or Datejust and just gut the sucker for parts (such as the spacer and the movement)? Does it have to be a 2836 or does the 2824 suffice? Do the rep bracelets fit on the gen watch heads? I would get a watchsmith to do it, but I will be at school in Saint Louis and I don't relaly have the time for the patience to look for someone who is willing to put together a datejust.
  2. I am intending to create a Frankenjust in the near future and I was wondering if I could run through some stuff with you, I am gonig to get: A 6mm Crown A 16013 Case A ETA 2836-2 (Where is the best place to source this?) Tudor Replacement hands from Ebay A Datewheel overlay from Cubic Works And A Spacer Ring (Can someone lead me in the direction to get one?) A case opener A Hand Removal Tool Does that Look in order? I will probably mount the head on leather, so I do not have to pay out hte nose for a Rolex Bracelet
  3. No, i remember that when andrew sent me my watches, the invoice said something like 280RMB, which is about 30 dollas
  4. I have fingerprints on the inside of my PO 45mm crystal and everytime i take it apart there are some residues from washin etc... is there any way to get rid of these?
  5. Bracekt or rubber? Its not that astonishing as most ADs are willing to give you 30% and we aren't even talking about grey market.
  6. I read a review somewhere that said rolex keeps using the axle/sleeve instead of the bearings because it is more effecient at winding. Meh. If yo uservice your watch often with Rolex i woul think this would be a nonissue
  7. the symbol is apparently for internal purposes only, some watches have it some don't even in the same run. at least that is hte consesus over at TZ
  8. I have scratched up my Ultimate PO bezel insert, and the pearl is recessed and I would l ike to source new ones. Does anyone have any spare ones and is located in the united states. Andrew said he has them, but I don't really like the idea of paying 15$ for shipping.
  9. The asian steelfish-- I am under the impresson that all dealers have the same watch... HOWEVER: Andrew says it has AR. Josh and Puretime says it doesn't. Which one is it? Thanks
  10. Go out and look at them in the dealers. The peal is meant to be white or a little off white The markers are more than slightly off white The dial is not flat black, its like a dark matte grey
  11. I think the upward mobility of our society takes a lot of people out of the rep collecting circles. For me at least, i will buy gens if I have the money, I don't intend to collect reps forever; but being a college student, my funds are limited. If i could afford it i would buy the gen, because reps have little or no horological value, lets face it, no matter how good the rep becomes, it is still an imitation and the makers of the rep are not responsible for the design.
  12. generally they aren't made to withstand more than a drop from your hand to a solid floor
  13. the standard rolex movement is above and beyond what we have in our reps. To deny that is to declare one's insanity IMO. but he was indeed rough with that movement.
