  1. Thanks, yeah that KH high dial and handset really make it (GEN insert helps too). Maybe if I can I'll scrape up the funds to buy the GEN and stick it in the safe lol
  2. All very good points. That's a great deal you got on the V3 with the gen insert, tube and crown. Anyway if I decide I'll probably price it lower and be very open to negotiation. Here are some pics taken with a crappy iPhone
  3. Not sure what I was thinking, got confused with another rep I have. It's a pointed 4 bezel insert not a flat, also, yes it's a v3 but the v5 bracelet and clasp plus the KH dial and hands make it look awesome. Regardless thank you all to everyone who responded, maybe $1,200 is a better value. Still on the fence about selling it.
  4. Please note this not a for sale post! Hi all its been a long while since I've been in this site. anyway I'm thinking if actually selling one of my most prized reps. an opportunity came up to buy a Gen at a great price. so help me out. It is a TC 16610 LV Ver 3 that's been modified no engraving anywhere the ver 3's were still made with GEN ETA movements has a GEN 16610LV bezel insert (flat 4) A V5 clasp And the KH 16610 LV dial, hands, and DWO Has normal wear but no major flaws Am I crazy to think this beauty is worth at least $1500? Let me me know what you guys think and please don't PM me offering to buy. If I decide to actually sell I will post in the classifieds
  5. The clasp will loosen up a little the more you wear it, especially if you take it off and put it on a couple of times a day.
  6. Ok, so to recap: Bracelet $1k Bezel $250 Insert $125 Crystal $125 Dial $300 Hands $200 Case $1200 Movement $1500 Forgot to add box $200 Total $4900 Remember my example is a very good condition d series ( or so) purchased for around $4800 (with box and papers) So I guess I'm wrong it is worth about the cost of its parts....maybe I picked the wrong model for my example.
  7. Also in my example D-series 16610 doesn't it have SEL 93250 bracelet? I'm not trying to get into semantics. But it just seems to be getting out of control the price of the gen parts on the market.
  8. I figured that too, I just picked the 16610 because its a popular model, both in the gen and rep world.
  9. Wow, so maybe I should just buy a gen, use it to get the bracelet, then sell the gen. How do you convince an Rsc to sell you a new bracelet without trading yours in?
  10. Only $800 for the bracelet? No way, i just saw a clasp sell for $200. Where can I find one for that. I've been looking! That's actually what started me thinking about this. That and some of the threads about people building frankens and spending near close to the price of a good used gen. But of course if you build yourself a really nice franken you get the satisfaction of doing that, rather than just plunking your cash down and walking away with a watch.
  11. Ok, so I've been thinking, and this might be a really crazy question, but given the current gen parts market here in the US especially. Are some watches worth more than the sum of their parts? Lets say you pick up a nice 16610 D series, they run around $4500-$5500. Ok so lets say you get a good deal and pay $4900. You could probably get like $1800 for the bracelet, $200 for the bezel insert, $250 for the bezel, $200 for the hands, $350 maybe for the dial $75-$125 for the crystal. $2k for the movement and $1k for the case. That's $5800-$5925 Am I off on these numbers? It would be a shame to do.
  12. Had my gen 1500 serviced about 9 years ago, I now have closed 6's and 9's no big deal IMHO
  13. I have one just like that. I wear it on my TT 1500 Date, smooth bezel, Looks really dressy. Difference between that one and the one I have is that the one I got is original to the watch 1978 or so. The strap is newer, but the buckle has a little indent on the crown for the prong of the buckle to rest in. If i get a chance i'll post a pic of it.
