I've never heard of anything so preposterous in my entire life. How does that not contravene some sort of human rights legislation? It's amazing what people will allow their governments to do to them.

Yes, apparently the government here can do anything they like. Trust me, I have already spoken to lawyers! They can even tell me with how many people I am allowed to live together in a house (if you are not married and more than 2 persons, eg. with an older kid or as student house or whatever, you already have a problem! limit for unmarried persons is TWO per house, no matter how big it is).

They always come to inspect this, meaning they check if you are REALLY living alone and all that. And apparently they have the RIGHT to enter your flat and see how many beds, toothbrushes and closets are in your appartment, without a warrant or anything. You can refuse them, but they will come back with the police and they will use force (been there, done that!)!

And trust me, I already told those guys I feel like I'm living in a police state where the gestapo is coming to check every week!

If the letter was registered (you had to sign something to receive it), I would speak with a local lawyer to see what he recommends. My guess is that he will tell you to write them back saying you never ordered anything &, therefore, cannot assist them with their investigations.

However, if you did not have to sign for the letter (it arrived with the rest of your daily mail), I would probably ignore it altogether. If, at some point in the future, they contact you again, just say you never received the letter & know nothing about it. If you did not sign for it, they cannot prove you ever received it.

In some countries, like the netherlands for example the letter does not need to be registered. 3 examples

1) my landlord sends me a letter telling me he will inspect my apartment with the local government (to check if i'm not subletting to 20 moroccans i guess). he said if i don't reply, he will use the master key if i'm not home

2) my landlords sends me a letter (after living here 3 months with a 12-month contract!) telling me he is going to raise the rent, unless i object

3) dutch government sends me a letter and tells me they will make a fire inspection, if i'm not home on the date, they have the right to get the police and destroy my door (for which I will have to pay)

all letters were NOT registered! and everyone who lives in the netherlands knows how f'ed up the postal system is, I receive mail from people I dont even know all the time, because they have lived here at some point in the past!

Lookin for a budget cam on eBay, I mysteriously came across a Olympus e410 D-SLR for about 130Euros. I thought what the heck and bought it. It is from a reputable seller and is refurbished straight from Olympus. Of course with the lens included!

So what do you say, did I make a good buy? Will I be happy with the cam? The only downside of this cam is that is does not support auto focus when you want to use the display for "live view".

I was wondering if anyone can point me into a direction where it would be best to shop for High Quality reps on a trip to Asia? Is it easy to find them on the streets in GZ or even bangkok? I'm looking for some bargain hunting while I'm there! Are there any particular malls or areas that I should look for where I can find high quality reps? The cheap stuff will probably be all over Asia, but I'm more thinkin in terms of HBB, ROO, UN, etc.

PS. any tips regarding cultural attractions or secret islands/places in cambodia, laos, vietnam and thailand are also more than welcome!

I can feel your pain, I had similar situations with Paypal...

The most ridiculous thing that happend was that I once shipped something back to the seller because it was a fake item even though advertised as genuine (Paypal told me to do so), he refused to accept the package, it got lost on the way back and I didn't get a refund whatsoever, Paypal claims its my fault!

And then those e-mails you get, they are an insult in their nature! They don't address the problem but are basically pre recorded snippets. I'm the kind of person that is calm for a while, but if someone sends me replys that advise me to do things that I have said are not possible in the previous mail, then I tend to lose it!

I actually got a mail after that stating that Paypal customer support would not converse with me anymore unless I apologize for my language (after the 32nd mail I did use the F-word a little bit here and there) and refrain from using it again when talking to Paypal customer service (because they are also "human beings" with feelings). I'm not going to say what happened afterwards, but I don't think I will ever be able to send an e-mail to customer service at Paypal (so now the only thing I have left is phone calls). No problem though, their customer support via e-mail is bullcrap anyway and doesn't answer any question besides those listed in the FAQ anyway!

No diesel for me, the CLK200K and 230K are both gasoline, not diesel? I don't like the older Diesel, acceleration is awful, plus you pay a lot of taxes for them here.

SLK looks a bit gay, or like a womens car, you are right, but its a convertible with a steel roof (I don't like the textile roofs) and it's good value for the money. I'd prefer the CLK, but if I get a nice deal on the SLK, why not!
