  1. Um ... iCal syncing over WebDAV. This can be done on a Mac laptop today over wifi or Edge/GSM. There is no reason the calendar on the iPhone won't do it out-of-the-box either.

I have read on various sites, that it is NOT possible to synch your iPhone calendar with your computers over edge/wifi - and this was said by ppl who talked to steve and held the phone in their hands.

I dont even want to imagine how much husse this would be. Blackberry has their own servers who do this whole job, do you think anyone would set up his own webdav server just to use the iphone? Comeon, you sound like one of those Apple-disciples that tries do defend everything from apple!

like sailboat said, most ppl get their blackberry from their company, and they (for sure) wont go thorugh extra trouble and pay extra money for the iphone. and those who are their own bos mostly do not have time to go thorugh all this trouble to set up their own webdav server or whatsoever.

Do you actually think that the yahoo push-freemail is a soloution for the corporate sector? I mean, come on! you're a smart guy! it might be alright for consumers, but not for business people

    read this:

NOC Architecture: One of the biggest selling points of the BlackBerry is the unique architecture that they offer. In the RIM architecture, they have a Network Operations Center (NOC) which routes all emails to the appropriate device. The advantage to this model is that an IT team does not have to open a hole in their firewall to route messages through. Instead, they simply make an outbound connection to the RIM NOC to route the corporate emails. In all other Push email architectures you need to open a hole in your corporate firewall to allow the device to connect with. In many IT environments (especially government) this is either not allowed or is a very length process to get approved. Getting an outbound connection is typically a much easier thing to get approved (even if it is not necessarily much more secure).

  2. humm i am all to familiar with an office of several hundred attorneys who are married to their crackberry - and the most popular question I have heard is how/when/if they can swich to the iphone as a replacement.

then they dont really need the blackberry functions. If you needed the blackberry functions, you just CANT switch to the iPhone, because the iPhone does not have those functions.

or they dont know that the iPhone cant replace a blackberry (which you and a lot of others obviously dont know either).

Actually since it is synching with iCal & address book it will be a serious organizer.

Yes, if you put it into the DOCKING station at your computer... Thats not what a blackberry is all about.

Any PALM Pilot could do this years ago...!

  3. Ok, I'm going to try not to say bad things about you personally, because that isn't nice. However, your post is so full of errors, I simply have to correct you.

I didnt say bad things about you. And I doubt you can say anything bad about me, cause you dont know me personally, and so do I not know you personally :winkiss:

1: MS Exchange servers. This is what you use to manage blackberries. You run Blackberry Enterprise Server as an MS Exchange Server plugin. Having a Blackberry and all the business features means you uae an Exchange server.
Possibly, I dont know? I have a life, and I dont care for things that I dont use ;)

2: I have a day job with meetings and everything. I also freelance in the evenings and weekends, working from home. If I didn't have home-office email/calendars with me when I was at work, this would be difficult to manage.

I never said you dont, I just said you are not the kind of guy that travels from city to city everyday. The Blackberry is something for ppl who are out of the house all the time and need to have their office 'on hand'. Even though I manage a bar only, I have meetings, too. But I dont need a blackberry either, because I think I can keep up with them without one.

3: What blackberry features does the iPhone not have? It has push email, calendar syncing, contact management, etc. I can't think what features are missing that you think would be a deal breaker.
The Push Mail feature is not for the corporate sector. You cant synch anything wirelessly (not even thorugh wlan). The main feature of the blackberry is, that you always have your calendar&mail up to tade, always (without pressing any buttons or putting it into a docking station)! that alows you to be thousands of miles away from home and still have all the meetings from your home computer on the blackberry. And if you update your calendar on the blackberry, your calendar at home will automatically be updated. The iPhone cant do this. And even if it could, I think Blackberry holds patents for this service (or NTP, but blackberry paid almost 1 billion for them), and therefore noone cant just copy the blackberry service.

The one feature that may end up getting the iPhone blocked in some corporate environments, ironically, is the camera. There are still several fortune 500 companies that have a global ban on phones with cameras.

Even to the point that he says the iPhone is "Game Over" for the competitors?

Well, Blackberrys come with cameras, too. Thats not so much it for me. The iPhone is just not something for the corporate secotr (because of the things i've just mentioned), and all other ppl dont buy the iPhone for its calendar or whatsoever.

Apple will definietly grab a LOT of marketshare with FUTURE iPhones (iPhone Nano for example). But this iPhone is not something for the mass market. Its for geeks and freaks who need to have every new toy :)

  4. No, I meant pictures as a confirmation that he actually has the phone on hand and that it doesnt have some sort of gameboy inside :D

I've seen this already, consoles that looked like a PSP from the outside, but were some gameboy from the inside

  5. I'd by the way like to add, that my opinion is the same as Boy Genious':

"Well, don’t forget it’s the first product in this category from Apple it’s priced high so your right everyone and their mother won’t run out and buy one right away, but there will be less expensive models I’m sure and so forth. Corporate? Not so much. That’s where RIM still has some market share."

  6. I didn't realise you need a lot of MS Exchange Enterprise features to work behind a bar.

(I, however, spend a lot of time in bars and run a MS Exchange Enterprise server or three)

what the [censored] is this supposed to mean? who talked about ms exchange servers? I dont even need a blackberry! plus, most of the time I dont 'work' behind the bar, I manage the lounge bar.

but lets keep it real, you work at home, you dont travel from city to city everyday and you dont have 20 meetings a day. those are the kind of people that have and NEED their blackberry. and they wont switch to the iphone, because the iphone is just NOT a blackberry. it does NOT have the blackberry functions.

the iphone is nothing more than a toy, its not for people who are in serious need of an organzier with automatic synching functions

edit: if you can really get those iPhones for 300 bucks, I'd be in. But I'd like to see some pictures first.

  7. i just read some of phobands post. yes, indeed, steve jobs is an [censored]. he once asked an employee if he know who he was, and the employee didnt, and steve said 'i'm steve jobs, and you just lost yours!'

and also (please dont be offended by this) i think its funny that you are a jew and have a law degree, reminds me somewhat of an entourage quote: "We already have legal documents drawn up by Simon, Schuester and three other Jewish names i can't remember."

  8. They don't have the rights to use the term iPhone? This is not true, yet. If Cisco wins the court case, then it'll be true. However, I bet you one of two things will happen. Cisco loses the case or it's settled out of court quickly and quietly.

ps. Cisco only holds the trademark in the US.

pps. Here's Apple's stance on the whole thing: Apple spokesman Alan Hely said "We think Cisco's trademark lawsuit is silly," and that Cisco's trademark registration was "tenuous at best". "We are the first company to ever use the iPhone name for a cell phone, and if Cisco wants to challenge us on it we are very confident we will prevail. Yes, I'm a Wikipediant. :bleh:

So? I could be the first one to sell dildos called iMac's, I'd still get sued by apple! The iPhone trademark was requested LONG before apple startet putting an "i" infront of their computer names, and the first iPhone was relelased about a year before the first apple computer with an "i" infront of it (iMac).

  9. now please, anyone of you, step up and say again "i cant believe they make 100$ on a watch sale" ;)

IWC GST Ti: 147$ at the market (including a mark up, because he didnt buy from the factory!) 299$ at trustytime.

nothing wrong with that, I just wanted to point it out for those wo tried to eagerly tell us that there is no way a dealer makes 100$ on a watch ;)

  10. at the risk of offending some people, the overwhelming majority of Americans don't follow soccer any further than their 6 yr olds saturday game. This is really a non-event. I would rather see more of whats-his-names wife.

    Thom

So are you an American Football fan? To be honest, I think Am football is boring, because it has WAY too many breaks. If it was like Rugby, I'd watch it. But every 5 seonds they stop for 1 minute and ... i dont know, its just boring! its only exciting whenever someone scores a real good touchdown

  11. 25,000usd a month ?

it means one has to be even richer than the prime ministers of uk, canada, or even the president of usa.....etc...

if a dealer can sell 10 pcs a day.....tough luck!!!! not bloody likely.....

if a dealer can sell 10 pcs a day,,,,he or she would have nailed by the authority already.....

if i were to make 25000usd a month by watches,,,i would have quit my well paying job at the pharmaceutical filed...and invest a "[censored]" house or build a [censored] house

in a 30 rooms mansion in Argentina or Venezuela...and dress like " ALI G ", driving my bullet proof AMG...no joke....this is my dream.....

believe me,,,,,i have a dream too......my dream is to be a pimp, a pimp master,,,,,sugardaddy in my own [censored] house.

BY THE WAY, MATES ON TRC, RWG, RWCC, WT...all of you guys are invited to my [censored] house...and i will offer the best rate for the best rate entertainment.

( sorry Drinks not included,,,so B.Y.O.B.-Bring your own booze)

the biggest winner in the trade will always be the manufacturers.

I know that Paul actually sold about 10-20 watches per day in the past.

But I'll visit you at your whorehouse, too, lemme know once you open it ;)

  12. I forgot to mention, do you know why Sony has a VERY hard time selling their PS3's? Do you know why the stores in Japan (and porbably in the US, too) are full of PS3's, but all Wii's are sold out? Because noone wnats to spend 600$ on this game system, its just too expensive compared to competitors!

Those who buy the iPhone will most likely buy it for its MP3 Player feature. SonyEricsson has much cheaper MP3 Phones that are selling VERY well. It might not be as good as the iPhone, but its a lot cheaper. The Xbox360 is also not as good as the PS3, but it sells way better, because its cheaper. You can listen to your MP3's on both phones.

Even though PS3 and iPhone may be WORTH their price, it doesnt mean consumers are willing to pay such a huge premium for those little features you additionally get.

You know what would have been a MAJOR seller for sure? The iPod nano with a bit larger display and simple phone features, like this one for about 249$ or so:

  13. You are giving advice on something you aren't willing to bet on yourself & telling someone to buy a stock you think is doomed to go down in the future (yes, I know you are saying it will go down after release, but if you are right you don't think the market would choose your view soon enough)?

That said, 10m units is nothing.

Those who I have given advice, know WHY I did not buy Apple stock. I would have gladly bought apple stock last week.

Whats the problem if it will go down in the future if you know the date WHEN it will/might go down? You have enough time to sell all your stock before it, and buy it right after its down at the bottom. Then you keep your stock until its high again, or forever if you think they will perform good in the future. I dont get your point, really?

The market will chose it's view, when they have FACTS! Noone will sell their apple stock just like that before Apple anounces how many phones they have sold. I said, if you want to be on the safe side, sell your stock before apple gives out their numbers. If they sell more then expected, you will most likely make just a bit profit but you wont lose 10% because the stock went down a lot, if they sell much more than they expected, you will still have the small profit, you just wont have the 10% the stock will go up AFTER they tell those positive numbers.

It's all about evaluating risks! I'm not here to evaluate anyones risks, I can just give them some advice how I would do it!

  14. by the way, apparently the iPhone will not be released until June, because some software isn't finished yet.

    Quote:

"As I tapped my way into obscure corners of the phone, Mr. Jobs pointed out a couple of spots where only a placeholder graphic was available."

  15. A lot of people did, look at how APPL performed yesterday compared to motorola & crackberry.

If you really think, that how ppl invest in the stock market is, how well the companys will do in the future, you should stay far far away from the stock market! This is also a big problem with most CEOs. They try to push their stock up, to make their investors happy. But in the end, they ruin the company.

The Blackberry service is a whole different world than what the iPhone offers. The iPhone has Push-Yahoo eMail, and thats it. It's not an opponent to the Blackberry service...

  16. The quote was 1% of the market, which works out at 9.nn million per year, meaning they'd need to sell under 5 million by the end of 2007. If you want to extrapolate the 10 million, it would have to be by July 2008.

Steve Jobs said they want 1% Marketshare by the end of 2007 and then he said "which is about 10 Million units". If you dont believe me, watch the Keynote, I just watched it

  17. Do you fancy making a wager?

As I said, I wouldnt bet money on it. If I would, I'd place put options on apple or buy stock.

Just read my post and you'll see why. From your quick reply, I'm guessing you didnt even bother to fully read it ;)
