  1. Wow! Looks gorgeous! Well If I don't hear any news on an updated version by the end of the month I'll have no choice but to pull the trigger on one of these beautiful BP's!
  2. Thanks for the reply. Have you handled your BP side by side with a gen? I'm sure they're almost indistinguishable but I just want to be sure.
  3. Hello fellow enthusiasts, I've been hearing a lot of talk this past while of a new submariner ceramic coming out of the noobfactory in the very near future? Can anyone confirm this? I was originally looking at getting my hands on a new BP from Andrew but if theres a new competitor on the way perhaps I should wait it out? Thank-you, gentlemen
  4. Any chance you can provide a link to the pearl mod? Just wanna know how to remove the bezel and how to "NOT" screw up the glue job and have extra ugly glue sticking out the sides... Guidance from those that are more knowledgeable would be greatly appreciated! Cheers
  5. Go for the black, 007. I have to agree with sigfrieds. Like you I was also interested in the new BP hulk subc. Unfortunately though, after looking at the rep and gen side by side, its very noticeable that the although the dial color is spot on, the bezel color is incredibly off. Imo it makes the finish look grainy and rather cheap. I'm going for the black myself, and as for the pics that sigfriends posted, that's pretty much the closest to gen you're going to get. Personally I don't think the new BP needs any mods whatsoever, unless of course you're one of those that is a true aficianado. In that case, I suggest the bezel mod, just to make the markers a nice platinum finish. But that's ALL!
  6. These days reps are becoming so "gen" like it really is quite difficult to tell the difference. The older reps (those that came out previously) were much more poorly done in terms of overall quality and attention to detail. I am the proud owner of many gens as well as a few reps and honestly sometimes I get them mixed up. I'm sure you are going to be more than happy with your Sub. Good on you for doing the adequate research first. Might I add that I think you chose well. Imo the latest version of the subc is amoung one of the best replicated rolex pieces out there today, especially Andrews.' In short, everyone is going to say "wow nice rolex!" and never take a second guess, unless you're a HUGE aficionado, but then again most of us aficionados will be fooled too! Congrats again on the purchase. Looking forward to some good wrist shots! Cheers!
  7. Couldn't tell you why exactly. Seems to me, in this regard, Andrew has the better product. The gen 116610 subs come with print not engraving. This gives Andrew the upper hand. Closer rep imo
  8. Who did you manage to pick this rep up from, pjsayer? Trustys' by any chance?
  9. Congrats on the new Sub, Calebt. Can't wait to see those pics tho! I'll be ordering mine in the next few months Cheers!
  10. Excellent choice, Tester! I'm looking to get a date 116610 myself! Andrews looks nothing short of AMAZING!
  11. I need one of these 116610 ceramic subs!

  12. I have to say that the quality in those pics looks impeccable! Unbelievably close to the gen in imo. How has it been so far for you Mike? Keeping good time? I'm thinking of getting one off trusty (Andrew) in the next few months. I have to say, one of the best done Rolex sports models i've EVER seen and I've been in the game for a little while. Love to see some more pics and perhaps gen vs. rep pics. Also, how is the crystal? On the gens the crystal, although not nearly as tall as Rolex used to make on the sports model, still demands its presence with it's sparkling and gleaming that is given off in the light. Is the crystal on trustys rep as similar to the gen as the watch is itself?
  13. I agree with panerai153 100%. I myself, like him, am the proud owner of a number of gen pieces, and I have owned some reps in the past as well. Unfortunately, as has been said time and time again, the people who [censored]-off reps and are all for "gen" pieces are all about the look. The fact of the whole matter is that the majority of people who buy the big names like Rolex, Omega, and Breitling don't buy these watches for themselves, but rather for everyone around them to admire and gock at. Let's think about this for a minute. What is the first name that comes to mind with respect to the average person....... "ROLEX." It really is that simple, and I'll prove it. Just look at how many Americans in the United States today sport a Rolex on their wrist. They're everywhere! Even your friendly-neighborhood gas station attendent has one. I can't even begin to tell you all how many times I've started conversation with patients and other doctors in my medical clinic about their time-pieces and find through the conversation that they really do know absolutely NOTHING other than how much their watch cost and the fact that it carries the BIG name. In many respects I think it's quite sad really. To be a TRUE enthusiast means being able to enjoy and appreciate a well-made and beautiful piece, regardless of where it was made or how expensive it is. And of course, the most important part of that is buying a watch because you TRULY enjoy it. A watch is meant to be enjoyed. We all know that these fine genuine pieces are, for the most part, very expensive and in many cases even impractical. The fact is, why pay thousands of dollars for a piece that today can be replicated almost to the T of the original for only a couple hundred bucks. I mean lets be honest here, with today's quality and accuracy, not to mention quest for perfection, these reps offer it all, and surely they will only get better and better as time goes on. I own 4 gen pieces from Rolex, Breitling, and Omega, and just those 4 pieces alone have cost me over 40k.... and as such, they spend more time in the box and in the safe then on the wrist. The point is simple. Forget about what people think because those that [censored] off anything other then the gen pieces are A. either upset they spent so much B. Can't manage their money C. Really don't know anything about watches and just want to show off Almost everyone on this forum (including myself) is here because we are all aficionados in our own wright and truly love, respect, and appreciate the time and effort that goes into making a quality time-piece. It really says something about each and every one of us in terms of character, so the next time you come across someone who slags off reps on the premise that they are not gen and don't cost nearly as much, just realize that you're probably talking to Kim Kardashian, and walk out of there with your head high, at the very least because you have VALUE for yourself and wear that particular piece for nobody other than YOU! Wear it well and enjoy. At the end, nobody really can tell a gen from a good rep these days anyway; even with the gen side by side. If you're worried about what others think, you're on the wrong forum and you're doing it all for the wrong reasons. After all, nobody is really impressed with a "household" name like Rolex anymore. As i said, in some states, 1 in 3 americans has one. It's just that simple.
