  1. Hi Folks

After the great October contest, here is another chance to share with other members your achievements and win a prize.

2 categories, low budget (under $500) and high end ones.

We reset the contest every month so we can change our best build if we have a new one during the year.

One small present for the winner every month. Yeah guys, i'll send to the winner an item as a reward for his achievement and keep members sharing their passion. If it occurs that I win a contest, I'll give the present to the second. In case of draw, a present for each!

Nothing fancy regarding the freebie, a NATO strap or a goodie related to the particular build that won the contest. End of posting 28th of each month. Voting starting from 29th till the end of the month.

One build per member, spec list and short story to illustrate the journey to make it possible. Last comment: what make it special to you.

Good luck to all of you

  2. Recently i have seen some surprising watches either gen or rep in movies.

For instance Ben Affleck wears a DeepSea in Argo where the story stands in the 70's...

In Non-Stop with Liam Neeson, there is a focus on the pilot watch and you have a full screen fake Patek perpetual calendar chronograph appearance.

As Lhooq said the fake Daytona in Kill Bill is not even hiding this particularity. Counters are days and months instead of regular hours and minute counters...

Now talking about Rolex in movies, have a look at any Robert Redford or Clint Eastwood performances and you'll have a Rolex on their writs (most of the time DJ for Clint and GMT for Redford)

  3. Dumb question that I should know the answer to, but are we saying the 7750 will take a gen spec dial? i.e. sub dial spacing the same?

You'll have an issue with the counters holes placement, even if you cut the feet (btw they are not in the same location on V72 and V7750) you couldn't install it anyway.

But, you could place a V72 dial on an ST19 with a bit of modding on hour chrono counter hand pivot. Lot of work and high skills required

  4. That eBay deal will come with sterile cases for sure and sterile crowns as well.

His last batches  are coming without any engraving, neither on the case or caseback and crowns are sterile ones with a thread that is not compatible with other rep vendor's crown.

I paid myself the scam recently dealing with him.

Also, look at the dials on his watches on eBay, not finished yet, I bet he will ship it like so.

I wouldn't order that. Better buying already assembled one to a member here that can send to you precise pics and informations regarding his watch.

  5. On M2M deals recently,  that's what DW's worth on average.

They beat the ST19 ones on every points, have all counters working.

Reliability of the A7750 can be argued but if you're able to take the reversing gears out that would increase the movement durability.

IMHO there is no comparison at all, if you're seeking for the best price/accuracy ratio go for DWs.

Then your next step would be a Valjoux 72 build but the range here starts at $3k...

  6. I wouldn't spend $250 to a ST19 one with a lot of flaws.

I'd rather waiting for a DW one on the sales thread up to $500. Even if the A7750 is less reliable than the ST19, the overall product is much much nicer and dials are more beautifull especially on the Paul Newman ones.

Few upgrades on a DW and you'll have a watch you'll be in love with.

    My 2cts

  7. Engraving are off to me. Even if the effort on the E's is rare (not the same size in the lines) everything else is a total giveaway.

For the caseback, it's a stamping method which is nice but the 6263 is horrible

The case itself is wrong on the pusher side

Well, better to stay with a DW reshaped one I assume

  8. Hi Folks

What about posting your best build and have a contest here? Might be your favorite one and not obliged to be the most accurate one.

    I'm starting first:

    My 1665 DRSD.

MBW pieces with a huge case reshaping and polishing to gen spec.

    Gen T39

    Whoopy Mark 2 dial

    Yuki hands

    Swiss low beat ETA

Bought this one in M2M deal and with the help of my friend Rolojack get it improved to a look that is 99% gen.

Why is she special to me? Only rep I have that doesn't bother my mine with a repetitive voice saying : "it's a rep, you know it's a rep. Put a gen back on your wrist".

Your turn, let's the build porn begins!
