    !

very nice watch! i want a good IWC rep like that, but maybe with a white/silver dial do you think the rep is of a good enough standard to invest in AR coating? i suppose a lack of AR is not so bad on a lighter coloured dial
  2. stunning watch, always liked UN you're a git!
  3. have to disagree, not all gen wearers in europe are merchant w/bankers or in fashion you know loads of offices dont have a smart dress code anymore its getting to the point that making too much effort looks silly and might make you out to be an estate agent or something
  4. you wont get in trouble for having a rep isnt it simple? if you buy a rep its because you like the look of the gen but don't want to spend the money, fine admit it and stand up for your point of view if you take pride in trying to make your replica as close to the gen as possible, thats fine (similar to model aircraft etc..) and you should champion the craft if thats your thing if you try to pass it off as a gen then you are kidding yourself and will probably one day get very embarrased, its just sad to do so, trying desperatelyto keep up with the jones as we say in the UK etc...
  5. cool, post photos when they arrive i hope your transaction doesn't have any 'hiccups' like mine!
  6. bugger! there was a mix-up and the watch was posted to a customer in Utah, USA instead of London, UK!! the other customer will hopefully agree to forward on to me and Andrew will re-imburse the costs but does anyone know of the best way to courier watches to the UK without customs hassle? ----update the other customer is annoyed and won't forward to me Andrew is going to resend, but now its chinese new year oh well
  7. thank you very much to both of you for the advice i think The Zigmeisterzumba did mention in his movements descriptions that you can wind the Swiss ETAs slowly and its worth doing so when you first receive them (only the once mind?) have i got this right or are there differing opinions out there? thanks and sorry if i am incorrectly paraphrasing
  8. thanks for the info last question as i know this isn't the right topic to post it on does your advice apply to the SS straps? i assume not or that they just that they dont last as long as gen? cheers
  9. first thanks to The Zigmeisterzumba for his very informative guide to the various movements out there (posted by jonthebhoy), it really hammered home the importance of looking after these reps even if they aren't gen i have an Omega PO 42mm with a Swiss ETA 2824-2 movement coming soon from Andrew http://www.ttwristwatch.com/index.php?main...;products_id=25 my two questions are (assuming it looks to be a rep of good enough standard to care): 1. with my very limited experience, is it worth me buying the correct tool and opening up the case and checking the movement against online pictorials? or will i just end up fitting the case back incorrectly and screwing up the job? 2. how soon should i consider getting it serviced to ensure i get a good lifespan out of the movement? i suppose this depends on what the actions of question one find out about the movement thanks for your advice P.S. i am interested in getting into the mechanical details of movements and servicing if that has any bearing on your advice
  10. can we get a few people with IWC experience to look at this? if the community have their doubts the possibly unfortunate buyer can be warned via eBay to get the watch checked and inform eBay of the selling of mis-represented items just noticed the suspicious auctions forum, maybe its worth reposting there? cheers
  11. Pugwash> i suppose this is for a separate topic...but what is the average quality of rep leather straps like? i actually prefer then to SS....do most people just buy gen replacement straps in the end? cheers oh and welcome to the forums Mojua, i am new here as well but you will find that the members are a great bunch, very helpful and they take pride in their hobby and protecting the trust relationship with the associated dealers
  12. would appreciate it if you could post a photo after you have tried to attach the strap i might do this on a PO 42mm i have on order
  13. good photos, thanks i think i just need to adjust my mind to wearing a different style of watch i've not been a high end replica/gen wearer before so the case sizes are just something i need to get familiar wearing i think
  14. a relation of mine has a gen moonwatch, history counts for more than cash value and 'bling' i'm no expert but i've seen many top quality watches and only a few have had the same buzz around them
  15. not sure about the 45.5mm as i have lanky wrists! will try a gen at the local jewellers first
  16. hey tko, i don't suppose you could post a shot of your new watch at all?
  17. yeah, the history of a watch can mean a lot more than simply cash value but history often comes at a cost or course!
  18. sounds great, i'd be interested in hearing how that goes
  19. i'm worried now, some mates at work are tempted to order as well so i'll get loads of hassle from them if it aint as good as i'm hoping can't wait, next two weeks are going to be painful
