  1. Awesome shot! My wife and I are going to AK (from Boston) for the first time this summer....and we're completely stoked! Flying into Anchorage, renting a car, driving up to Denali NP, camper bus to Wonder Lake...camp a few nights, on to Fairbanks for a few days, then back to Whittier and sail down to Vancouver. It's gonna be a quick 2 week trip, but we're really looking forward to it. You've certainly got some beautiful country up there!
  2. super cool looking watch...mini-me Fiddy! Definitely fantasy though...there's no gen 44mm Fiddy
  3. damn i wish i knew how to use photoshop...brilliant! gotta love the kicks! nice work!
  4. The watch is very nice. Doesn’t look like a gen 127, but it’s a cool looking piece. Box is also nice. The emblems are correct, the hinges are correct, the black, mat color of the inside is correct, the magnetic latch/clasp looks good, and the aesthetic is appropriate. The only two possible discrepancies I can see are the color of the wood (seems too light, but might just be the result of photo exposure), and the black felt-like material that covers the watch (the piece with Officine Panerai on it). I can’t put my finger on what’s funky about it, just doesn’t look exactly right. The only other thing is that it’s not the right box for a Fiddy…special edition boxes are almost twice the size of the standard ones…this one is standard, Fiddy is special edition. Regarding your question about modding this one or getting a new one, depends on whether you like THIS watch or not. If it fits well and you’re happy with it, keep it and get something different. If you’re looking for the best possible Fiddy rep, don’t spend the effort and $$ on this one…start over and get the best and latest model from one of the dealers here…nothing’s perfect, but some of them are getting pretty darn close. Cheers!
  5. ATM is atmosphere, as in atmospheric pressure. Scientifically I think it’s a lot more complicated than this, but for the sake of diving, I believe 1 ATM = 10 meters, meaning a watch that is rated to 10 ATM could theoretically withstand the pressure at 300 ft below the surface….or, maybe, if 1 ATM is sea level, then 10 ATM is actually 270 feet…I guess…who knows...
  6. I have absolutely no idea what I’m talking about, so take this with a grain of salt, but if you’re looking at the watch face on, check out the amount of space (case) on the right hand side, between the edge of the bezel and the crown. On the rep, there’s a noticeable gap, on the gen, the bezel looks like it extends almost right up to the very edge of the case. I compared a lot of pics after reading, "you can also spot that it´s a fake if you take a closer look at the gap between the bezel edge and the case edge, it´s too big” for the first time, and although the difference is marginal, the bezel on the reps really does seem to be smaller (unless the case is bigger). Regarding case 581, I’d imagine that if it’s a problem with this one, it’s a problem with all of them. David doesn’t seem to have the problem (as far as I can see) with his case 117.
  7. Word! Thanks for the heads up Dak. I paid for the membership upgrade yesterday, but haven't heard anything yet...paypal prolly still processing the payment or something. I'll definitely check out the dealer reviews as soon as I gain access. With regard to servicing movements, I'm all too familiar with the protocol when it comes to Gens, have just been reading a lot about ‘dry’ gears and dirt/lint in rep movements , and wasn’t sure if it’s a problem across the board, or if it’s dealer/manufacturer specific…I’ll look into it. Cheers!
  8. I’m leaning toward the new Davidsen, but my question is does it have the ‘broad dagger’ swan’s neck? I can’t tell from the pic that’s listed. Also, anyone prefer Andrew’s, or Eddie’s, or Angus’ most recent 127? Price not really an issue (cause even w/ a Greg Crazy Horse I’m still at less than 5% of OEM). Aside from the really obvious things to look for like proper engraving, swan’s neck, cannon pin, dagger, the Davidsen seems to be the most accurate with regard to the AR layer, lume, and the overall fit and finish (I have noticed on some of the reps that there’s just too big a gap between the edge of the bezel and the edge of the case)… So anyway…if the Davidsen doesn’t come with the dagger, is there someone here who has the part and can do the mod? I’ve heard awesome things about ‘Finepics’, but that dude seems really busy already… Finally, I’ve never had a rep before and I am no watchdoctor…will I need to send it in for a day at the spa (cleaning, lube, calibration) right away, or can I wing it for a while? Cheers and thanks!
  9. Maikel, 2700 EUR is a lot of money (over 3500 USD). The 2006 retail price for a 112i is $3650. If you're not getting the piece from an AD anyway, why not do one of the following; - Get one that has been slightly used for well under retail ie: http://www.network54.com/Forum/353390/thre...i+112+Near+Mint - Get one that is BNIB from a non AD ie: http://www.network54.com/Forum/353390/thre...amp%3B+Pam197+I. - or pay the full price and get one (and the FULL Panerai experience) from an AD By the way, if you're looking to get an OEM PAM, don't worry about it being a Rep...buy the SELLER, not the watch! Good luck!!!
  10. AMEN Flav....although brand new here, I have spent A LOT!!! of time on 'risti (mostly lurking) over the past few years, and those guys get rabid at the very mention (let alone flaunting) of reps…they’re the most knowledgeable and dedicated OEM PAM freaks in the WORLD, and they take their watches very seriously. I am forever indebted to them for the community they have created, but don’t mess with them when it comes to Reps…they have absolutely NO tolerance / sense of humor when it comes to these things...
  11. lI hear that phoband!!! like I said...I didn't even know these things existed until yesterday and I already feel like I'm in on some big secret...
  12. word!!! what the heck is wrong with us anyway?....after all, they're only watches, right....or at least that's what my buddies are always telling me....gulp!
  13. look at me....i'm already hooked...the mrs. just rolled her eyes and said goodnight...it's midnight on a saturday night...i just got back from having a few cold ones at the pub and here i am...CRAZY! Cheers!
  14. that's right my friend...you must either know Mr. Bonati himself, or be blessed from above.... the sweet, sweet Angelus movement....only 150 of those 203s in the world, and not all have even been allocated...$77k is probably actually cheap compared to what the 'right' buyer would be willing to pay....I'd say $127 is a pretty darn good price...all things considered.... cheers!!!!
