  1. Gentlemen, First of all I wanted to thank all the members of this forum for sharing their knowledge and experience. I always had my questions answered here and always received valuable information that helped me build my dream time pieces. I have been a member here for several years and it was always fun to read your posts and knowledge exchange. Thanks to this forum, I have finally completed my long lasting projects and wanted to share with you some pictures. Special thanks to SSteel, Kenny and Whoopy for helping me with these time pieces. In the course of building these watches I have realized a few important points for the newbies: 1. These things are never perfect but they are fun!, 2. you wont get to build anything until you have waisted a few cases, fractured a dozen of plexies and ruined some dials among other things. 3. by the time you get to the desired results you will think that you could have bought one genuine piece, - and it is true, but hey, this is just more fun! Enough talking, lets get to my imperfect pieces. Sorry if photos are not perfect, can do more if anyone is interested. 1. 5513 Guild Dial. - Case from Josh - 703 crown and tube from Athaya - Dial from Vietnam - Dial, hands and insert dot relumed, aged with care and love by Kenny - ETA movement - Plexi Sternkreuz - Insert Dot from Ofrei - Bracelet along with the end links and springs from WSO, bracelet buckle from cartel - (thanks for a tip by a fellow member) - Graciously assembled by SSteel along with all the case works 2. 1680 Red. - Cartel Case - Gen crown - Gen insert - Whoopy Dial - Dial, hands and insert dot relumed with care and love by Kenny - ETA movement - Gen top hat Plexi - Insert Dot from Ofrei - Graciously assembled by SSteel along with all the case works 3. COMEX - Case MBW - 703 crown and tube from Athaya - Whoopy Dial - Dial, hands and insert dot relumed with care and love by Kenny - ETA movement - Plexi Sternkreuz - Insert Dot from Ofrei - Bracelet along with the end links and springs from WSO, bracelet buckle from cartel - Graciously assembled by SSteel along with all the case works 4. 6239 Paul Newman - DW Case - Gen crown - Dial from Vietnam - Dial, hands from Yuki - Valjoux 72 movement - Plexi Sternkreuz - Bracelet from Yuki - Graciously assembled by SSteel along with all the case works, including painting of the minute dots on the dial as per original. Thank you all.
  2. automatico, thank you for the detailed explanation! i thought someone has adopted 1680 cartel case perhaps for 5513
  3. Thank you Jack, read your 5513 build blog, very informative. I also have Clark plexi installed and it does indeed make the rehalt ring fatter like a loop distortion, will change it to SK and see how that looks. Very good tip about the bracelet! All those good parts and things in the US and we cannot get them in EU all gets stopped by the customs those blockade rules man, same goes for things from China. IF SOMEONE HAS 5513/12 BUILD OUT OF 1680 CASE, PLEASE POST THEM HERE ! THANK YOU!
  4. Thank you Jack, Thank you for the link, great build! So I take it if 1680 requires a larger dial then it is not an appropriate case for a 5513 build. Dial fitment is a big deal afterall. Given the size, i thought that 5513 dial would be big for 1680 or at least a tight fit, turns out the opposite. The gen 5513 pictures however, feature a slimmer case more like cartel 1680. What is a source of your bracelets? they look good. thanks.
  5. Gentlemen,Here is the thing, I have 5513 case from Joshua (latest) and 1680 from PT - pure-time. Josh's 5513 is a bigger case, with fatter lugs, CGs and overall it is a bigger fatter case. Does this mean that the case for 5513 is originally bigger than 1680 or I am just better of using 1680 case from PT to build 5513 and save myself a lot of time grinding and trimming the metal?Interestingly enough, Josh's 1680 case is also thinner than his 5513 but is a bit fatter than PT's 1680.On another point, my 1680 case from PT did not have enough thread - metal to install Athaya tube! so go figure which one to order in the future. Thank you.Hagan
  6. Thank you for all your valuable comments! Who is the seller above? "Paul" Regarding the bezel system, can the cartel bezel be tightened by replacing the inner bezel spring with the Clark's? or whole system needs to be changed?
  7. Thank you for your comments guys. Yuki bracelets are not perfect either, they also have that line through on the end link, and as automatico has rightly mentioned it is not fun to put in 800 or more on the bracelet. I would rather spend a fraction of that on the ETA movement. So, I think I will try to frankenstein a bracelet out of different ones I have and cut our that extension system from the clasp, see how it works.
  8. Yes, the gen is too expensive, i thought maybe an aftermarket clasp or gen clasp, take one bracelet apart for parts and replace that end link, drill it through to accept fat springbars, add wso endlinks. I wonder if anyone did this.
  9. Gentlemen! After disappointment of someone doing the mods for me, I have decided to take the matters into my own hands and doing all the screwing up by myself :)) In helping me to do so, could you be so kind to assist me with the following: 1. What kind and what size of the drill(s) I need to order for drilling the lug holes for 5513. I am in Austria so if you have some sources or can point me out to some ebay examples in German language would be great. Otherwise, searches in English will also work just great! 2. What kind, type, size of a tap I need to make a new thread in the case for 703,700 tube/crowns. I read that the tubes for these crowns are the same, if not maybe I can get different size taps just in case. 3. To recess the crown deeper into the case I saw in one of the posts that someone was using a round tip drill, if you know the type and size would be great to know. 4. The bezel on the cartel vintage sub cases is normally very loose, did anyone used Clark's spring, or any other remedy besides glue-freezing the bezel? I don't want to purchase the aftermarket bezel construction. 5. I saw in one of the posts fat cartel crown was filed thinned to look vintaged, was really nice, however I would assume the inner thread would be damaged. What are the tools to open the new thread inside the crown, if such thing is at all possible. Thank you!
  10. Gentlemen, I recently bought 3 subs from Josh for various projects ( by the way his 1680 case is better than 5513 and the rest of them ). Naturally, all three watches came with bracelets, However! all three bracelets are really bad. 1. First of all, the extension system inside the clasp is horrible. What is a remedy? did anyone try to simply take it out and connect the bracelet straight to the clasp? 2. Secondly that end middle link which attaches to the end links, has this line cut don't know why, but it is a tell and it is annoying as it should not be there. What is your remedy for this? 3. Finally, what is the alternative source(s) for a good aftermarket bracelet for a 5513? Thanks in advance!
  11. Thank you all for your comments, yes it the Clark plexi, need to change to SK probably. Also, the bracelet is really bad, the end, middle link on the bracelet which gets attached to the end links has that cut line don't know if there is a way to change that. The extension system in clasp is bad, maybe there is a way to through it away and connect the bracelet without the extension system. If you know a good aftermarket bracelet options please let me know. thank you
  12. Thank you for the comments. I am indeed very lousy in taking pictures. Will try some more during day light. I also think that CGs should be thinner. I see that on most models they are pointy. Not sure about the lugs.
  13. Gentlemen, Your thoughts please. What do you think about lugs and CGs? Josh case reshaped Gilt Dial from Tony, resumed by Kenny, hands relumed and bronze aged. Ofrei insert dot Athaya crown and tube Yuki hands set Clark plexi ETA 2836 Cartel bracelet.
  14. This is the look.

  17. I would take Tony's dial and replace the Coronet with the genuine one. Overall it is a better dial except for the Coronet. Here is mine with V72. I am yet to change the coronet on it and minute indices. It takes time, so do it in stages, see what you like and what needs the improvement. I am slowly transforming it into this.
  18. Enjoy it! Consider slightly aging the dial and hands as a final step, when all is in place for your liking. Sent from my Classic using Tapatalk

  20. Greetings Gentlemen, Does anyone has a picture of installed T19 Sternkreuz XS305.451 or T19 Sternkreuz XS303.472 a side photo (any photo) would be much appreciated. Best.
  21. Thanks dbane could you point out the part number of cousins 703 tube just for precision sake. Thanks.
  22. Thank you Gentlemen! So cousinsuk does not offer any tubes for 5513 build for 703 crown. The reason that I tried with cousins is because I'm in the EU, any package outside of the EU with a value more than 20 euros gets stopped by the customs.
