  1. That goes without saying. But so was my title, now that I mention it.
  2. Two fine versions of the same classic:
  3. @Ken: Lang Bang
  4. Yeah...sure... sort of... know what I mean?
  5. Pure joy, Frank Some of these videos are better than many feature-length films. Here's one that's not even a music video, but I have to post it anyway. After all, it could be a music video - if there was any music. As it is, it's a complete three-minute film in itself. From David Lynch's Mulholland Drive: the late-night conversation between Adam Kesher and The Cowboy...
  6. Great choices, kelster! I was actually thinking of the first one when you posted it....but I couldn't remember the name. Really amazing stuff
  7. Germany.... Gott im Himmel! Kraaaaaftwerk!!! This one totally freaked everyone out when it appeared:
  8. Speaking of which:
  9. I'm not the biggest fan of the Chemical Brothers, but I find this video by Micheal Gondry irresistible and totally brilliant:
  10. @kelster: Another Aphex Twin goodie: I finally understand the references to Death Metal - or something along those lines Aphex is always working on multiple levels, but here he pushes the envelope so far as to invent a whole new genre, IMHO.
  11. Or is it this?
  12. No, this is the best music video ever made (out of about fifty others I can think of):
  13. Something tells me I never should have started this thread @assasi9: It's clear you've never seen Benny Lava @k222: How about the one with the midget playing Bach motets on the tuba? @Ken: Classy...or Crasy? @Victoria: Get thee to a Mosh Pit... Conclusion: you guys are hopeless.
  14. I picked up one of my Pannies today - successfully repaired for a ridiculously low price - and told them to expect you.... I only wish I had found these guys earlier!
  15. I've found some very knowledgable and skilled guys on a little side-street in Montparnasse: they're currently working on two of my Pannies (one a simple fix and the other not) and although they haven't finished, their prices are reasonable and their attitude one of authentic watchsmiths. In fact, that's all they do. I immediately felt at ease and confident with them: they communicate easily and have a can-do, friendly attitude (rare for this town!) When I first checked them out, one of the guys had a genuine Panerai on his wrist: it belonged to a customer, and it was being verified for accuracy (after repair) in actual use. Here's their contact info: Holologerie de Montparnasse 13, rue de Maine (NB: rue and not avenue) 75014 Paris Tel: 01 4047 - 0073 Metro Montparnasse or Edgar Quinet Let us know how you make out with them.
  16. One per post. Here's one of mine: not much of a video, but I can't get Workingman's Blues out of my mind since I first heard it. Dylan's at the top of his game here; brilliant lyrics, and always that inimitable voice:
  17. It may have been said before, but it's clear that this thread has gone to the dogs!
  18. Heck, N... as far as I'm concerned, there never was no hatchet! We may not always agree, but since the time I've been on these boards, you're like family Get well soon, and don't let the bastids get you down
  19. The test is not as simplistic as it seems. As for me, it's Purgatory.... Could have been a lot worse....
  20. I'll second that.
  21. Ok you guys, The Moment of Truth has arrived: http://www.4degreez.com/misc/dante-inferno-test.mv
  22. Maybe the guy in the balaclava just wanted to know who has the best sub? Ashamed to ask, an' all that.... @Pug: There are guys who would have intervened had it been two men being stalked by a third. I once even saw a dog break up a fight between two or three other dogs - and he didn't even have a dog in the fight, as it were.
  23. : The only thought-system that ever answered that one to my satisfaction is Buddhism: it's called compassion. You get a somewhat similar version of that in Catholicism, with Jesus dying on the cross in order to redeem all of Humanity from the sin of...being human. A noble and sublime idea indeed, except that few people ever really get it - which is understandable, since (especially for the Buddhists) it's a concept that borders on insanity.
  24. What makes you believe that your Professor has any valid answers? He's just doing his job, which at best, should be preparing you for the life-long task of examining it (ie, developing your consciousness), and at worst, throwing you curve-balls which neither you nor he can ever really connect with in the real world - meaning outside the walls of academia.
