  1. In my wildest of dreams, I'd like to imagine TTK in charge of RWG correspondance - and as a public forum it would probably be one of the most popular here. More realistically, I'm not sure what to suggest to motivate 93 percent of the members to spend the equivalent of the cost of a Starbucks' coffee per month to keep the forum up and running comfortably. Aside from that, what johnthebhoy and kruzer00 said.... Best regards and thanks for all that you've done and are doing..
  2. Why not sell it here? Depending on the city, lots of lowballers, airheads and guys who'll steal everything but your shoelaces on Craigslist. Like I say, it does depend on the city.....
  3. Thank you, Ubi - I've sent you a PM.... I guess no one has ever tried this before - there's absolutely no info out there concerning the compatibility issue....
  4. Admin seems to be unhappy that everyone's pooping in his shortest thread.... Poor guy :-)
  5. Does anyone have an idea where I could find a display back for a 45mm Radiomir-style vintage case with a Moljot movement inside? I'll post supplementary info and a pic shortly.... Suffice to say that I have no idea if these are standard Radiomir cases (and threading) which would mean that finding a display back would be easy. The factor of incertainty is the potentially non-standard nature of these cases - you've probably seen them in the 47mm fixed-lug version (for the Vintage series available at several of our dealers). This is a somewhat more unusual 45mm version, with the same fixed lugs and Russian movement. Will be posting a little more info in a moment. Thanks for your suggestions! Pics courtesy of Perfect Clones, but I don't know if the watch itself came from Josh....
  6. As far as I can see, it's been that way since the Roman Empire and certainly long before: Attila, Ghengis Khan, Alexander, dynastic wars for hundreds of years in China, inter-tribal and ethnic wars everywhere, Crusades, Inquisitions, multitudes of religious, political and idealogical wars, revolutions, Colonisation, World Wars, genocides and dozens of past and present smaller conflicts all over the world - all based on either imposing new ideals on a given population or eliminating them due to their differences. Not sure of what you're thinking of, but I don't get the feeling we're looking at the same planet... Compared to Adolph, Stalin, Mao or Pol Pot, Bush is pretty small change in comparison. In terms of bloodshed, Abraham Lincoln certainly has as much on his hands as W, the difference being that it was all American blood - shed for an ideal which we were imposing on our own people. As to America's foreign policy and interventions over the last hundred years that's another story - and other than the two world wars we were involved in to save everyone else's asses, a complicated one too long to go into here. But compared to others - and for a country which for many years could have literally 'taken over' much of the planet, I believe we've shown rather admirable restraint.
  7. He certainly does/did..... According to French Intelligence, via their contacts in Saudi Arabia, he died of typhus in the mountains of Afghanistan last month. Problem is, the report is unconfirmed....
  8. What a bunch of [censored] we are! And if [censored] we be, at least no one is going to kill us for all our wankyness: try saying the same things about Allah or his Prophet in a Muslim country. I guess THAT'S what it's all about: being able to be [censored] if we want - being able to be ourselves, without some jerk telling us how we have to be - or else.... One tends to forget how precious these basic liberties are. I guess that one of our big mistakes was to imagine that they could be exported. Like I say, what a bunch of [censored] we are.....
  9. Wow, it sounds like Benny has been listening to some Frank Zappa in between masses....
  10. As I remember, it was something like this: (And a-one, and a-two, and a-three): "Hey momma dont you treat me wrong come and love your daddy all night long hey hey alright "See the girl with the diamond ring she knows how to shake that thing alright now darlin' now hey hey hey hey "Tell your momma tell your pa I'm gonna send you back to Arkansas oh yes ma'am you dont do right dont do right "When you see me in misery come on baby see about me now yeah alright alright aww play it boy "See the girl with the red dress on she can do the bird man all night long yeah yeah whatd i say alright "Well tell me what'd i say (yeah) tell me what'd i say baby doll tell me what'd i say tell me what'd i say baby doll tell me what'd i say tell me what'd i say (yeah) "Now i wanna know baby i wanna know right now i wanna know yeah i wanna know right now i wanna know i wanna know yeah (talking - I think this part must be in Latin): "Alright ehh (ehh) oh (oh) eh (eh) oh (oh) eh (eh) oh (oh) "Ooh one more time (just one more time) say it one more time baby doll (just one more time) say it one more now (just one more time) say it one more time yeah (just one more time) say it one more time (just one more time) say it one more time (just one more time) (More Latin): "Ehh (ehh) ooh (ooh) hueh (hueh) haw (haw) hueh (hueh) haw (haw)........" Heavy stuff. To further spread his message, it's rumored that the Pope will be forming an Evangelical touring group with the Vatican Cardinals, known as 'Benny and the Jets'..... (And remember, you read it on rwg FIRST!)
  11. Just a temporary swerve back to the topic.....In earlier posts, we've determined that the Pope was a member of the Hitler Youth (Hitlerjungen) organization - along with Gunther Grass, who's just come out as well - in the last year of the War. Today, certain informed parties are asserting that Benny is actually a Jew, as proved by actual photographic evidence - including a Star of David medallion and a prominent Moshe Dayan eyepatch. Mea culpa, but I couldne't resist posting this extraordinary revelation, as relayed by Yahoo News: http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&...64d9d50828dc2e1 It also appeared on the Neo-con-Zionist-Reptilian Conspiracy Mother-Ship Site, 'Little Green Footballs (caution: not for the faint-hearted): http://littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/
  12. Some might say that we're in EndTimes - another way of saying that we're at the very end of all systems, and that every hard push in one direction instantaneously produces a counter-reaction in the opposite direction. Like the man said, 'Instant karma.' And the harder you push, the harder you get shoved back in return. Next stop: total gridlock and something rather nasty and Apocalyptic - here, there, more or less everywhere.... If this Doomsday scenario seems plausible, the logical question is, when there are no solutions, what's the solution? I tend towards Nanuq's idea of (trying) to do the good that one can where one is - modestly, patiently, guided by the heart as much as by the head. Jjajh also gave some excellent advice: sit down, relax and watch the parade while wiggling your toes in the warm sand... Beyond that - and I'm aware that it may sound corny or naive - I think love (compassion) is and always was the answer - with no fringe benefits or guaranteed happy end for trying to keep oneself on the path. Some people are really bummed by this vision of things - as for myself, I don't see many viable alternatives. I wonder what you guys think of - and how do you feel - when you're alone with yourselves? If you're like myself - and many of the people I know - do you feel that your life basically consists of making it through from day to day - trying to keep on top of the wave and doing your best not to fall off? A long-term perspective is lacking. Personally, I can barely see beyond tomorrow - when I'm not convinced that tomorrow is never going to come. This doesn't prevent me from acting like I have a future - in terms of doing what needs to be done - but from where I am, it doesn't feel like it used to. Does anyone here really feel that they've got it made - that things are ok both inside and outside of themselves? If so, tell us how you did it, and what gets you through the night.... I don't seriously expect anyone to respond to that, but it's just a way of reiterating that Popes, Presidents and Mullhas are not the answer - if they ever were. "See how they run like pigs from a gun, see how they fly...." In the end, it all comes down to us - you and me and the others: not surprisingly, that's the direction this thread is starting to take, so I just thought I'd add my own spin and rambling 2 cents to the mix.....
  13. The problem is that concepts such as freedom are culturally determined: the fundamentalist Muslim wants the freedom to stone to death an adulterous woman.... The ideals that we commonly accept in New York or Alaska are meaningless elsewhere. Dororthy is having a hard time understanding she's not in Kansas anymore, and that the Yellow Brick Road - albeit paved with good intentions - often turns out to be The Highway to Hell.... (Wow, the old rhetoric machine can still turn out a phrase or two!)
  14. On one hand, there is probably a perfect reciprocity between the visible violence of fundamentalist fanatics and the somewhat less visible violence of the fanatics of a global, liberal economy with its cortege of multi-national corporations, unrestrained capitalism and the homogenization of cultures. Be it as it may, I sometimes dream of the improbable retreat of U.S. interests behind the virtual walls of a Fortress America - a kind of splendid 19th-century Isolationism, the ramparts from which we could observe the rest of the world implode under the weight of its own unresolved stresses, contradictions, and fault-lines. Are we (the U.S.) the glue holding things together, or the agent of global disintegration? If Atlas shrugs, would the world be a better place? How I wish that we could turn our ressources and energies inward to better our own nation and our own people....
  15. No echos of this yet on GoogleNews, Jeff....can you link us to your sources? I do hope our people - among other people - are ok.
  16. ekhunter's I.D.* explanation is the hallmark of a man who has understood it all! *I.D. = Intelligent Dinner
  17. Where's jjajh these days?
  18. I meant 'tales'.... :-) "All composed things are like a dream, a phantom, a drop of dew, a flash of lightning. That is how to meditate on them, that is how to observe them." YEE-HAW!
  19. You guys will be chasing your tails for eternity... Until you read The Vajracchedika Prajnaparamita Sutra ('Diamond-Cutter Sutra' or 'Diamond Sutra' for short). All answers lie therein. Now, what was the question again?
  20. Lovely, Pug! The sweet hills of Scotland.....
  21. flat earth, witches, demons, Christmas, Easter..... "JUDAIC?" Hey, didn't they also kill Jesus? This thread is turning into one hot theological debate.....
  22. - I Will Fear No Devil - p.s.: Chavez is an ass.
  23. It just keep coming back....I can't understand why... Nice to see you back on the 'job', Pug... Did the Mrs. find the wee hoosie of your dreams?
  24. Retep, I think you forgot to include the relative humidity....
  25. Light fog here in Paris..... Personally, I'm always reluctant to use the 'PM' button because it reminds me of 'pre-menstrual.' And then I start thinking about TTK. The mind works in strange ways....
