  1. Ken, if Admin could change the title to 'The Dumbest Ever' it would definitely be a winner. Success is sometimes knowing how to cut your losses....
  2. Conclusion: Don't play it again, Sam.
  3. That's better....things seem to have calmed down. We're only a few posts over The Longest Thread now. If everyone does their part, we should fall behind soon.
  4. I don't think the old GGG thread even counts. On the other hand, do you remember the TRL thread? Eighteen pages of pure brilliance. Has never been equalled since.
  5. Ken, I'd reply to that, but I certainly don't want to go against Admin' wishes!
  6. Here's the corrected version: The Mods are fighting amongst themselves on how to make this the shortest thread ever.... What devotion to the cause! What a bunch of great guys! Yeah, that reads much better.... Go Mods!
  7. Looks like something screwed up here.

  9. Button? What button? I can't even see your finger. And why do you keep posting here? We're all doing everything we can to keep this the shortest thread ever, and you keep adding on to it! Admin is really going to be upset....
  10. I suggested this idea in an earlier thread by Eddielee.* It was not in jest. I see a modest $10.00 membership fee to RWG as a totally win-win arrangement: these funds could be set aside to compensate any dealer who suffers a major loss due to member stupidity or malice. The current RWG membership of 2,236 translates into a fund of over $20,000 - certainly more than enough to offer compensation for incidents over a given year. Any excedants after a given year could be channeled back into the forum for upkeep and sundry expenses. Hardly rocket-science, and emminently feasible. As for the members who might refuse the idea of a $10.00 contribution....well, there are still several other forums which offer free lunches. On one hand, it could serve to remind the people who zip through here looking for a quick Rolex fix - contributing nothing and simply taking advantage of a free information source - that RWG was not created as a personal shopping service for people with absolutely no interest in the community, not to mention the subject of replica watches itself. On another, it would be a painless way of testifying our loyalty and appreciation towards our suppliers - without whom our activities and interactions would be extremely limited. The idea was floated several weeks ago with no reaction from the administration - which is not to imply a criticism as much as a constatation. It would extremely interesting (at least for me - and I rather doubt that I'm the only one who feels concerned by the dealers' repeated problems with rogue or otherwise idiot members) if all concerned (members, dealers and the administration) were to open a thread to at least discuss this possibility. * http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=8032 Any similarities between the vapid hand-wringing and outraged responses in both threads is unfortunately not a question of co-incidence. Talk is always cheaper than putting your money where your mouth is.
  11. Do you deliver?
  12. Only if the thread gets an erection.
  13. That is a red flag, but you have to determine where they put the regulator. Apparently none of them were set exactly between 'fast' and 'slow' (+ & -) and if it's waaaay over to the right, that would explain why it's running fast. If not, yeah, I'd query the dealer for a replacement.... And Hello, Paris guys!
  14. Just pretend I didn't post this. But as long as I'm here, I'd like to add that even in short threads like this, Pugwash's coments are always fabulously intelligent. I wonder how he does it?
  15. For those who know how to do it, it's an extremely easy fix. You have to open up the back of the case and very patiently adjust that long pointy marker towards the - (slower) setting. Don't try this at home if you don't have a jeweler's loupe and the microscopic-head screwdriver needed to undo the series of screws on the back. Better take it to a watch shop and have them do it: it should cost next to nothing. If you have some income to dispose of (it shouldn't take much) have the person service (clean and oil) the movement at the same time. If done properly, you should end up with a watch which will run to within a second or two per day of perfect time - and which will go on running perfectly for years.
  16. Looks like it's finished.
  17. Can't see the image! Let me guess....humm..... It's Monica Bellucci's..... no, never mind.
  18. "I am moved by fancies that are curled Around these images, and cling: The notion of some infinitely gentle Infinitely suffering thing." Commie [censored]. Now let's get back to watchez....
  19. * Coda, for Gerco, Diego and Mahler: I The winter evening settles down With smell of steaks in passageways. Six o'clock. The burnt-out ends of smoky days. And now a gusty shower wraps The grimy scraps Of withered leaves about your feet And newspapers from vacant lots; The showers beat On broken blinds and chimney-pots, And at the corner of the street A lonely cab-horse steams and stamps. And then the lighting of the lamps. II The morning comes to consciousness Of faint stale smells of beer From the sawdust-trampled street With all its muddy feet that press To early coffee-stands. With the other masquerades That time resumes, One thinks of all the hands That are raising dingy shades In a thousand furnished rooms. III You tossed a blanket from the bed, You lay upon your back, and waited; You dozed, and watched the night revealing The thousand sordid images Of which your soul was constituted; They flickered against the ceiling. And when all the world came back And the light crept up between the shutters, And you heard the sparrows in the gutters, You had such a vision of the street As the street hardly understands; Sitting along the bed's edge, where You curled the papers from your hair, Or clasped the yellow soles of feet In the palms of both soiled hands. IV His soul stretched tight across the skies That fade behind a city block, Or trampled by insistent feet At four and five and six o'clock And short square fingers stuffing pipes, And evening newspapers, and eyes Assured of certain certainties, The conscience of a blackened street Impatient to assume the world. I am moved by fancies that are curled Around these images, and cling: The notion of some infinitely gentle Infinitely suffering thing. Wipe your hand across your mouth, and laugh; The worlds revolve like ancient women Gathering fuel in vacant lots. Now let's see who knows who wrote this (it weren't me). Pugwash, C-Stone, Willith and Jjah are excluded from the competition. Not sure if they have books in Oz, so I guess Ken is ok...
  20. Bigger things depend on smaller details. You can't have one without the other. Respect for life is meaningless if it doesn't encompass all life. Now pass me a beer and a slice of dead cow with french fries: nobody's perfect, right?* *(see 'Coda' below)
  21. All you hopeless watch geeks and computer freaks need to get outdoors for some fresh air and a little invigorating sport: http://addictinggames.com/zidaneheadbuttgame.html
  22. Hey, why stop with animals? I'm imagining Monica Bellucci's left [censored] on my wrist....
  23. Ken, have you considered Koala-skin straps? And wow, those cute little black noses: bet they're just like shell cordovan... Let me know when you've got some prototypes....
  24. Puppy and kitten-skin for me: furry-side out.
  25. @Willith: Clive shmive.... ryyannon greases no man's....watch. And a live animal is always better than a dead watchstrap. Sure, that's exactly what I've got too, but if the whole of idea of using animal skins disappeared off the face of the earth tomorrow, it wouldn't bother me the slightest. I don't even care to get into a long-winded and futile debate about the subject, other than to say that I have little respect for the people who can't see this aspect of it. And it really pisses me to see (censored) people insulting a member who's merely expressing an opinion.
