I knew that!
Good catch Mav. The domed crystal still bugs me, however. How did you replace yours with a flat one? Where does one get replacement cyrstals?
Also had a TW classic. Always wanted to drill out the lugs hole to accept gen pins, but the holes are too close to the top edge, unlike gens. Always a dead giveaway, even though dial print, weight and rehaut are close to real specs.
Just starting to have a temperature - Pam fever, that is.
Just treading the water and I know some of guys are already knee-deep in it.
So why few 40mm models exists? Which ones are good 40mm representations?
The AquaTerra is from EL. Great dial printing. The blue hands are dead-on. Reliable 2892 movement. Could use a bit more decoration on the rotor, but does not matter since it's always hidden away.
The Constellation is Paul's *solid* gold model using another 2892 movement. I believe the gold is indeed solid as I have polished it with cape cod and the finish only showed more luster. * No brass showing *
The Deville is another favorite. Dial and hands are very, very accurate. 2824 movement. Black leather strap for potential evening use.
GMT is another EL special wtih 2836 movement. Correct hands length and stack. Correct "Seamaster" print.
It follows the AM/PM movement but is not indepndently adjustable. I know that the 2836 has to be modified to make it independently adjustable. Whether it's easy or not or even worth it, I'm not sure.
Got an EL white dial GMT that's perfect with regards to hands length and stack. Got two questions:
the 4th hand is non-adjustable. can the 2836 be easily modified or better to swap out the movement?
the domed sapphire is "to domed" that in some angles, the dial look distorted. can it be swapped out easily? Tried pressing out the crystal but it would not budge. Wondering if I need a press for that. Is there a source for a replacement crystal?
