Excellent work ! Some dedication required for that kind of work !

This is a great start !! Personally I would say that even the 2nd attempt is too deep and I think you should go shallower, in general these lug engravings are very shallow unless looked at under extreme macro. So if you are looking at a normal photo and they look about the right depth then there is every chance they are too deep, under a macro lens they will look way to deep. I would also try to match the numbers a bit better, especially the zero, maybe they can be traced from original photos?

Very nice dial, can I ask about exactly how you baked it? Temp/time etc as this always scares the life out of me :-)
-
well.. I apologize for the waste of bandwidth then!
Definitely not a waste of bandwidth. I also have both and detailed set of comparison pics is a good thing to have for those who want to buy. If it were not for the bad end link connections to the bracelet these would be acceptable.

They might well fit, but the quality is "questionable"... why not buy gen parts, especially the insert?

I used the frothy creamy stuff from a latte to age the lume.
You did WHAT? :-) Brave man ! :-)

Holy [censored]. ! A work of art... if only Rolex made em so well these days !

Brilliant build, a beautiful looking thing... no one would doubt it is gen

Just seen, the OPs case was sterile not branded...
-
What HR quotes for sterile prices (i.e prices shown on their web site or ebay store) is NO WHERE NEAR what they charge for branded stuff. For example the price of their sterile "6538" dial is half the of what they ask for the branded ones and that is after they doubled the price of their sterile "bond" dials about 6 months ago. I am sure that there is easily 200+ difference between the sterile and branded cases.

Nice job... I'm hoping with Athayas new case that reshaping should not be needed anymore :-)
-
Are the crown guard screws tight? If not then it could be the reason.
-
Nice, specs?

For both dial and hands it's a mix of brown china ink and waterbased felts. Then, revarnish the whole plate to fix the color and create the texture.
Thanks, the effect is really really good.

Nice job ! I always like your rep hands mod
-
Really nice result... ! Who supplied the bezel? Or is that from the rep?
-
Wow
... and that is some spectacular dial aging... any tips?
-
Hmmmm interesting and an EXCELLENT comparison, thanks very much for this... I was all on the Phong until your last comment about the sides... now I don't know, I can reshape no problem but I am not sure I want to on such a costly mid case !
-
Whoa... blingtastic

Wow great result... I am currently collecting parts for the same build later this year with a very similar build list. The 1030 is currently with the watchsmith... and later this month I need to begin the process of getting in touch with the unspoken one for a dial !!
Also I know nanuq has a soft spot for the MQ mid cases, do we think he is a better bet these days? If so I might need to change my mid case order pretty quickly !

RolexAddict in France?

MQ's is pretty close too, but Phong is much easier to deal with.
Who's bezel is that? MQ as well?
