  1. Better to stick to the TDs for sure. That way, if anything were to ever go wrong, a solution could be facilitated through the forum and through our well established members.

Worth mentioning a rule that has gotten some new guys in trouble before: never issue a PayPal recall before exhausting EVERY other opportunity for a solution! This includes talking to the Trusted Dealer about your problem, posting here (without bashing the TD), working with admins, etc. Trusted Dealers are just that for a reason.

Lastly, reps can take a bit to come in and sometimes you'll see things like "on hold" in the tracking. Better never to freak out and it pays not to be jumpy.

    Welcome!

  2. I can spot the difference in a second. Even at arms length. The BP (with a 2836 movement) version has the most accurate hour markers, but it has other flaws.

Yes I ment the 9015, my bad :p

But that is a deal breaker for me aswel, just hoping to get some news on the new J12 factory versions.... this takes so long already :(

Interesting, guess I'll be ordering the Miyota undecorated version (so I guess the TF version?) if I go with anything soon. I hear the 2836 version has thickness issues and other similar problems?

Any idea on when the J12 might be coming out? If it's soon enough, I wouldn't mind waiting!

  3. It's hard to say..

The V6F is the latest version and it looks perfect despite two points:

    - The AP Logo is not correct

    - The case is 1,5mm thicker as per genuine which is a lot when you keep in mind this is a "slim" watch

These new ones have a Miyota 1915 movements but are decorated to make it looks like an AP Calibre 3120 movement. Looks pretty good tho :)

Do you mean the miyota 9015? Shame to hear about the thickness, IMO that's a worse offense than having a slightly defective logo.

Don't forget the fact that the hour markers are terrible on the Miyota versions

How do you mean that they're terrible? Are they terrible at macro level, or even at a distance? They seem alright to me, comparing to the gen.

Is the alternative a version with a 2824 or 2836?

  4. Was looking through Toro's website and saw he has two nice 15400s, one is the V6F with A3120 movement and the other from the TF factory with the miyota.

I've been out of the loop on APs for a while. What's the story with the A3120 model? Is the movement decent? How does that model compare to the TF in terms of bezel screws, etc?

    I'd link them, but I don't have 5 posts yet, so I can't.

    Thanks guys

  5. Just wanted to introduce myself to the forum. I've been here for a while, mostly just doing careful reading over the last year or two.

I've already gotten some tremendous help from the very generous people on this forum on some of my builds (thank you, specifically, to cc33 and Nanuq for some advice on a big crown build).

Other than that, I've also assembled a so-so 16610 as my first project, and a so-so 1016 right after that. Neither were particularly great, but served as a neat introduction to the hobby.

From there, I have stepped it up, and recently build a 6538 big crown. It is not as well produced as a build like dbane's or cc33's, for example, but is nothing to be ashamed of. I'll be posting details on that before long.

I love the focus on high quality work here, as well as the focus on helping others out. Looking forward to learning plenty more here!

  6. Hi guys,

I'm new here, so let me know if I'm doing anything blatantly wrong or am posting in the wrong place.

I'd like to order one of these Explorer dials (see attached picture, I can't post links yet) for use with a DG2813, and DG2813 hands.

This would all go in one of these cases (see attached picture)

    My questions are:

    1) Do I need a dial spacer ring?

    2) Do I need a movement ring? (one of the "#2 movement rings"?)

    3) Do I need specific screws to mount the movement in the case? I've only ever mounted an ETA 2836 and Unitas 6497 before, and I do not know how I would mount a DG2813 with (most likely) a movement ring around it.

Thanks for your help guys. I'm not looking for the most gen-like rep ever, or anywhere close to it - just a hobby watch.

    Thank you!
