  1. Well that didn't last very long! I also noticed that the bracelet of the GMT almost looks 'bleached' because of the 906(?)L vs the 316L. I had contemplated getting a gen bracelet but the SS would never match. I'll take some macros when I find time to pull out the 5DMkII. Thanks for playing everyone.
  2. I didn't intend to but I'm learning a lot from this simple exercise.
  3. One of these is rep. The answer Monday.
  4. What exactly is the white insert? On the bezel?
  5. I'll have to measure with my dial calipers. Maybe Clark makes one that fits? No date model In the works
  6. Not familiar with the term 'testing the waters' are you? Enjoy your watches
  7. I'm not so concerned with the slight difference in case thickness to accommodate a certain movement or that the crown guards are not shaped exactly per genuine. What I am concerned about is the inability to waterproof a watch because a gasket doesn't fit right or the crystal can't be pushed in all the way. I wish that at a minimum that all these watches would accept gen crystals and gaskets. What really pisses me off is offering a waterproofing service then explicitly stating to never go near water. Makes no sense whatsoever.
  8. Why do TD's describe their watches as 1:1, 'gen-like'', ' all parts interchangeable with gen' construction when the watches clearly don't accept gen parts. Doesn't seem like someone that is 'trustworthy' would do. How many members have purchased watches thinking that they would be able to perform a simple waterproofing exercise, only to realize they can't even wash their hands without taking off the watch.
  9. My only advice is DON'T get it wet. My buddy and I worked for 5 hrs last night after his had a quick brush with the faucet.
  10. I have a BK sub c but to be honest, I don't see how it could look much better than it already does. I think the biggest improvements would be the lume and the glidelock clasp. Well is there any generic crystal that would fit the trusty prohunter that doesn't have a giant LEC on it?
  11. The LEC is so big and noticeable but I only realized that after I received the BK.
  12. I ask because when I requested a movement shot during QC, I was told they don't do that. You would think they would be happy to show you the movement before shipping. It would have prevented the situation that the OP described and saved a lot of headache for both parties. Obviously you would not want to hurt the reputation of a TD needlessly but I think there could be additional steps during the QC process. Why does the trust have to only go one way?
  13. Hello RWG Will the Rolex B25-295-C1-C1 crystal fit my Prohunter Mil Sub from TT? Is there a trick to determining proper fit? 14. I don't understand the big secret either. I thought the whole point of the forum is to share information and protect one another.
  15. Nice watch. The date wheel looks excellent. Where did you pick this piece up? I believe you can easily remove the links yourself if you have a 1.60mm screwdriver. You don't hammer out the pins (just learned this, this week myself). Search on ebay for 'watch screwdriver' and you can get a whole set for under 10.00. I ordered a set of burgeons myself but I like having nice tools.
  16. Thanks for all the replies. If anyone sees a good condition 1680 from 1978, hit me up!
  17. From what I understand, automatic watches sometimes run fast and sometimes slow. It is also common to set the watch fast so that when as lubrication dries, so does the speed.
  18. Thanks Nightwatch. I'll check those out. The thing that really turns me off about the APs are the thickness. Hope one of the factories can figure that one out but maybe they can't because of the physical dimensions of the movement. http://www.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php?t=160326
  19. Can anyone shed some light on what ref. 1680 means? As far as I can tell, everything is original although the cyclops looks like it has shifted? Is that possible? Still waiting on some pictures of the movement.
  20. Hello from Brooklyn. Just getting into the world of reps because I was gifted a nice rose gold AP for my wedding gift but it's just too formal to wear on a day-to-day basis. Not to mention that it's been in for service (refinishing, complete teardown/cleaning) SINCE SEPTEMBER and I don't expect to get it back until February. AND I get to pay 1200.00 for it After a lot of research and even though the dial is incorrect, I bought a Prohunter Military Submariner from Trusty. It should have hash marks on every second but this rep only has them 1/4 way around. I hope the PVD doesn't look cheap. Eyeballing an IWC Portuguese Chrono next but I'm not sure which version is the most accurate to the gen. Anyways, thanks for having me!
  21. Also in NYC! Let us know if you find a shop that services reps!
  22. Enjoy your milgauss! Which one did you get, with which movement?
