  1. Had an issue with mine, the reversing gears were at fault. You'll know if you have this issue as the watch stops after about 2 days whether on a winder or on your wrist. Spoke to TC and he said he'd have a look at it, sent it back, as said above, took a while, but have had it back for about 2 weeks and it's been fine ever since, I've not worn anything else since.

I think you have to take your hat off to TC for admitting that there were problems with the movement and then fixing them, it happens all too often that once people have your money they disappear.

  2. Hi,

Does anyone have any experience of ordering a Genuine AP Strap?

Can you just contact an AP Dealer and give them the model number or do you need to quote the serial number or do they insist on seeing the watch????

I know some Breitling dealers can be a bit funny and want a serial number, others don't seem to care, but they're significantly cheaper than AP.

I want to order a genuine GP strap, does anyone know a rough cost?

    Thanks

  3. Its for an original watch. The dealers obviously want the watch in, to avoid exactly what you have in mind...They always ask for the watch to provide an estimate of the work, which needs to be authorised by the owner before they move forward. Other annoying fact is that they cannot do a change without a service, which costs another €800.

The upsell is normal, Breitling and Omega also do this in the UK, a re-case and service soon becomes new hands and a crown with Omega.

  4. If you don't want to post it back, you could try sending it to Nick or Alex @ ukwatchservices, do a search within the forum for UK Watchsmiths.

There are lots of people that have sent them back to China with different results, some positive and some negative. I'd personally avoid posting it back, it's something you need to factor when buying any watch, the possibility that it may need a service or at least some work on arrival

    Good luck.

  5. The ROO Montauk Highway does not have lume.

Also, remember that lume can be applied on any color of markers.

In the link you showed, the panda has black lume, just like the gen. The black lume also appears in the ROO Safari, which also has black markers.

Black lume is like lume doing a half-assed job lighting up the dial in the dark, preferring to align itself with the darkness rather than providing illumination, very weak. ;)

    Thanks Legend & Pan!

I'll openly admit, I'm new to AP, that's cleared that one up.

I also thought Lume was one colour.

As for Ball, I've got one, its great, they use glass tubes filled with Tritium gas, allegedly guaranteed for 25 years, one of mine blew after 3 months.  Theres three things you can see on Earth from the Moon.....Great Wall of China...Panel Gaps in a Range Rover and the glow from a Ball.

  6. Thought I'd take a group shot of my Chronographs

Interesting that the PAM seems to be on the smaller size though appears the heftiest.

Also there is a wide price range here though the quality differences are not that much.

Show us your Chrono group shots.

Nice Autodromo, I have one exactly the same.

  7. Hi Fraggle,

Know how you feel, in IT as well, its not the industry it used to be. Although depending on your sector the contract market is still buoyant and has recovered from the blip around 2008 so you may be pleasantly surprised.

As someone has already said, Linkedin is pretty good resource, if your Profile is "word" rich you should get some invitations from Recruiters.

Really hope you don't have to liquidate your collection.

    Regards

  8. Hi,

Does anyone have a Breitling Chrono-matic 49mm in any of the face colours, I know this is a really old model now but I didn't know there was a rep of this available and I might be able to get hold of one.

If you have one, could you post a photo of it and tell me what you think of, it looks like it has the usual sunken date wheel problem but other than that, looks good.

    Thanks

  9. Looks like a different watch to me, look at the crown, the pushers and the bezel...

Thanks Markiemark, thought the same too, especially with the pushers, ones on the top photo seem to be longer/deeper. Its the date font and window and quality of printing that needle me the most.

Also noticed the rings round the sub registers are smaller too.

Have asked TD for a refund, he's now saying I'm nitpicking but I don't think I am.

Does anyone know which factories makes these, is it more than one? thought best quality one was H Factory.

  10. Hi,

I was wondering whether I could have your views on this watch. I've been after an SA for a while but wanted one with a white face and I've got a spare new genuine Breitling Barena Leather strap which I thought would look good with it. Checked the TD's QC picture on his site before buying it and it looked fine so proceeded with the purchase. Now received the actual QC shots of the watch and the Date Window, date font look different and Breitling 1884 printing looks thicker, the face also looks yellower but that could be just flash.

    QC shot from site.

    Actual QC shot.

I've asked the TD whether this is definitely the watch I ordered and he's said it is and they're all like this.

Welcome your views and how I can resolve this.

    Thanks

    Mark
