  2. Hello, Stanley. I am on my PAM...let's see...fantasy mini-Fiddy, 111h, 118, 199, 152/4, 076, 127, 217, 190, 210, 183 -- in one and a half-months.

Beat that, Stanley. And call me. It seems we could hang...

    I like watches. The End.

yes. my wife agrees that i am following your path........i had to buy a watch box just to fill my pams. now i have to buy another for my "others".

are you in O.C.? yes we need to hang. the wife has heard enough and is fed up with mystery packages coming from china and europe....

    cheers,

    stan

  3. With your boss, perhaps you should have fessed up and complained that with your measly paycheck you can barely afford to feed the little ones at home, let alone gens.

NEVER, EVER, EVER let them think that they pay you too much.

lol! no doubt we all are underpaid <_<

I'm gonna wear my casio watch with the built in TV remote to grab his attention.........."Mr. Boss, this is my prized piece. Please give me a raise so i'll stop messing with your TV in your office. i think its broken............."

yes i still have it for you old school folks.

  4. So I was officially fooled today.

My wife gave me a few gifts this morning for my birthday that were quite nice (a couple of polo shirts and a kitchen knife) and I thought that was it.

At dinner this evening, my two year old daughter comes up with a box...in it was a beautiful gen Oris Williams F1!

Too damn cool. I'm not sure what I'm happier about...the watch or that my wife got it for me on her own.

    Pics to come soon.

congrats!! my birfday was friday. my wife got me pair of chocolate Allen Edmonds dress shoes........ i know how you feel....... now hopefully you'll get one ever year. :whistling:

  5. hello RWG. i have been surfing the site and others for a long time and countless hours reading archived threads....... some of my favorites to read are stories of members here and their experiences with AD's, reps, gen owners/collectors, and asshats. i wanted to share my experience and if anybody wants to share theirs.

    story 1

I purchased a navitimer from yellowman a couple months back. Mods include gen dial, crown, swiss eta 7750, "butter" bracelet mod, bezel fix, all serviced by The Zigmeister. It came with a rep leather strap which i switched when i received it. wore it to work for a couple weeks and decide to switch to the bracelet. I dont have any cool watch tools so i bent the end of my spring bar trying to remove the strap.......

to the point...... i brought the watch to a local jewelry shop where they are an authorized Rolex and Omeega dealer. I have never handed any of my reps to any authorized watchmakers before so it was nerve racking handing it to him. He asked what need to be done and i told him i bent the spring bar so i needed to purchase another. He insisted that installation was free and he could do a quick polish for me. Then the dreaded question....................

watchmaker - "this is genuine right?..........."

me - "of course".....(umm the dial, crown, movement is....)

a couple minutes later he comes back with the new spring bar fixed.

watchmaker - "well, there you go. you have a very nice investment here. i did polish it up for you a bit. yeah i get a lot of those fake Breitlings.... you know...those BIG ones.... customers come in and ask for polishing and the nickel rubs off!!. plus you can obviously tell. the movement feels cheap and dial is just horrible!

me - "he he.....yeah, there are a lot of fakes out there........so how much i owe ya?

    story 2

The owner of my company makes 200k monthly. I am just above the average financial consultant. he wears a gen PAM 088 and gen diamond encrusted bezel BCE. Everyday i walk over to the processing dept. while passing his office and he shouts "STAN GET IN HERE!!". i quietly walk in and sat down...... as my heart beat rises, he asks me if i was happy. i replied "yes, why?". he says "i've noticed you have had on really nice watches". I replied "yes, i collect watches". he says "i know.....[censored] stan...i'm paying you too much. i wanna see you collection some time" :drunk:

so yes there are threads justifying why we wear fakes and blah blah blah. i wear them because i dont want to afford them. i was searching on paneristi looking for a base PAM. clicks after clicks i found RWI/RWG....... you guys suck....then again, you guys saved me a lot of money and educating me on watches.

"hello. my name is Stanley and i am addicted to PAM's. I am on my 8th one and i cant stop"

    whats your story?

  6. sounds like you've got yourself one nice navitimer :tu:

fyi, the extra dollars to mod the 063 will also be money well spent. i recommend waiting for a The Zigmeister lume job (assuming he'll do the work for you at this point) -- nobody does sausage dials better. here's my 063 (chieftang cyclops, finepics datewheel, The Zigmeister relume):

    deltatahoe

    delta,

ever considered a Thick Crown and CG transplant? i contacted Davidsen and he says his CG doesnt fit Josh/Andrews cases. :yucky:

    where can i find one?

  7. Fair enough, everyone is aprehensive with new things...

All I can add is that these "Stories" are that, "Stories" and nothing more... I'll only say that as a citizen living in Canada, I have first hand experince with customs, and have not had a problem...as I said before, the "stories" are always from those who don't actually live here. It's one thing coming into the USA from China, but another all together coming from Candada.

As with anything in life, there are no guarantees, I can only offer my experience based on the past.

If memory serves me correctly on the Breit, there are no case clamps on this model, it's just a snug fit in the case...more than likely the hollow sound is just the way it is, I can't remember if I tightened the bezel when I worked on it...the bezels come loose quite often as well...

Understood, and I am happy that in your short time here, you have gotten that impression. My philosophy is always, if you like what I do, tell a friend...rarely do you see any posts about my work, and this is ok by me...

I am fine with setting something up between us, PM is open, I sent you a message yesterday (or was it today), if you respond to that message, we'll work something out.

I am not trying to be a jerk, but as you can imagine, I have a fair number of members who use me to their advantage, and after a while it taints a person. I can't tell you how many members will suck the very life out of you if you give them a chance...so I have stepped away from providing a "consulting" service via PM. When I feel as if I have been taken for a ride, well like anyone, I get a bit peaved off...

No worries, I'll look for your PM. Have had worse start ups with members, who have in turn become great friends...

    RG

and i will hope many great friends will come. so far everyone has been very helpful and have advise expert advice. ssurfer, chieftang, yellowmen, flav, vaccumm, mwave, The Zigmeister to name a few.

thanks everyone who responded to this thread. i think i have found my watchmaker.

    pm sent.

  10. I am not offended, but taken aback somewhat.

My avitar shows clearly where I live, Chieftang lives in the USA, Yellowman in the EU, Kruzer and many others in the USA. All have and continue to send work my way, with no issues. If you had reservations about shipping and customs, why even bother sending me a message in the first place?

I respect Flav as well as Vaccum, and this has nothing to do with either of them.

If shipping to Canada was an issue, I would have thought you would have let me know your concerns before now.

Many members aren't comfortable shipping to Canada, that is their choice, and I understand it completely (although I have yet to see or experience any "Customs" problems I hear about from people who don't even live here...go figure). Many others from as far away as New Zeland have no concerns, and send watches my way. From reading your initial post, it looks to me as if I was a choice of last resort, not due to my location, but because I was the only one who offered a complete package for the work you needed taken care of.

    RG

i have never sent anything out of the US other than wire transfers/paypal to dealers. I am pretty new to all this exposure to reps as i registered with these watch forums in late April. After reading all the stories about customs etc. etc. i didnt feel easy sending REP watches out of the counrty after sweating when trying to get it into the country. I asked Yellowmen regarding customs issues and he said " same method he ships to The Zigmeister". If you can point me in that direction, i hope you will consider to attend all my watch services. I have a couple more i would you to service.

    1. navitimer that makes a hollow sound on the bezel when you tap on it.

    2. my pam 063

i have just spent $900 and i would like to have them modded and on my wrist so i feel that money was well spent instead of sitting there on my dresser. I do understand that watchmakers are constantly busy on these forums attending other members. I also realize you are on vacation till September. I know you do outstanding work per members here on these boards. I would like to schedule an appointment as soon as you are avaliable. I can send payment for your services in advance to hold the appointment.

Reasoning for sending you a pm regarding servicing is because YOU ARE GOOD AND TRUSTED. i was just concerned about customs.

    please let me know

    stan

  11. Let me see if I understand this... you contacted me for information on doing these mods last month, I gave you feedback. As soon as you got the parts in, your first choice for doing the work was not me, but was flav and vaccum, and when they could not help you, you turned to me...

That's like asking the homely girl to dance, after you have been turned down by all the other good looking girls.

So I was your choice for information, yet I was not your choice when it came for the actual installation. In other words, after helping you out, if flav or vaccum would have been able to help you, I would never have heard from you again...

Sorry, but my dance card is full.

    RG

    The Zigmeister,

i did contacted you last month regarding my installs. My apolozies to you if i have offended you. I contacted Flav and Vaccum after i found out they were in the U.S. I am weary about shipping and customs. I pm'ed all three watchmakers at the same time and those were the responses i got.

The Zigmeister: order parts, install when arrived

vaccum: order parts, install when arrived, no cyclops install (have DSN crown and Stem)

    Flav: lume only

I have migrated over from RWI after winning a VIP membership here. I like it here as there are more technical and detail info on watches. As for loyalty, i respect all three watchmakers mentioned as they each have their respected skills. I wanted to send the watches domestic so i can avoid customs.

i purchased a watch from Yellowmen and he referred me to you as you did quite a few amazing mods to the Navitimer. Chieftang also referred me to you when i purchased the cyclops. Therefore i wanted to send my watch to you for the upgrades..........so.....Yes you were right.

I assure you, no doubt, that you are one of the best looking

you must have more than one dance card.........

    Stan

  12. Are there any members or Watchmakers that install cyclops's on my Pam 063? I just got all the parts in. I am looking to install/service the following:

    1. Lume

    2. datewheel install

    3. cyclops

    i have contacted:

The Zigmeister - well i really havent. PM'ed him last month before i had any parts ordered but now he's on vacation <_< (i wish i was...)

favor fav - he doesnt install datewheels nor cyclops.

    vaccum - everything but cyclops.

i kinda wanted to send everything on a one shot deal.

can anybody refer me to a good watchmaker?

    thanks,

    stan

  13. I purchased a modded Navitimer a couple of weeks ago and it looks identical to the genuine. On the 12-9-6, there are 2 versions. The older has the silver subdial with a correct slide rule and a newer version has a whiter subdial with the incorrect slide rule. They both have the same asian 7750 movement so whichever one meets your eye as far as accuracy.

i bought one from member on another board. It was the older Navitimer modded with a Gen dial, swiss ETA 7750, modded bezel, and a gen crown. Should be cheaper than $900 if you have it modded yourself.
