  1. I believe the only solution to your date misalignment is to have a new date wheel installed. It won't do any good to adjust the current one because only some of the dates are misaligned. My V3 is like that, too. From 20 on the dates sit low.

You might PM BK about this, when he gets back from vacation on Oct. 2. He might know how to fix it.

  2. Dial hour markers and minute/hour/second hands are relumed by painting the surface with lume material, usually Superluminova. It costs about $150 for a watch like that.

But lume is only important at night, if you wear your watch to bed. I don't recommend wearing a gold-plated watch that much. Take it off at the end of the day and clean it to remove the oils and acids from your skin. That's what eats at the plating. You've got the best plating with Josh, but still, you don't want to push things.

Unless you just like your watch to lume and have the $.

  3. The newer one is fashioned after the 50th Anniversary GMT, meaning it has a bigger case with those "square" crown guards, "outie" pearl, and new clasp. This watch has not yet been released by Rolex, to the best of my knowledge. The older one is based on the current Rolex model.

I had one of the new GMTs and I like the look a lot. I'm thinking about getting one of Josh's newer Subs, with the bigger case, etc. Not the FG you linked, but the two-tone model. Looks damn good to me!

  4. I've been reading the forums and I've seen topics about various mods that can be performed. Does the sub in docs link need to be modded in any way?

I also have an extremely noobish question about I suppose all watches with clicking bezels. What is the significance of a bezel having 120 clicks? As well as what effect does rotating the Bezel have on the watch?

The full gold Rolexes are not your best bet for authenticity. The color of the gold is off as per the gen and you mod platted gold. You could replace the bezel insert and the pearl, and maybe get it relumed, but that's about it. In general, rep watches are poorly lumed, although it's changing for the better. Also, even though this watch showed no wear on the gold at all when I sold it, it's probably best not to wear a gold rep every day. I clean the gold surfaces at the end of every day I wear them.

All this aside, if you like gold, as I do, these reps are fun to own and even though the gold is 100% the right color, 99.9% of the population would never know.

  5. I bought a Steinhausen about 2 years ago, one that should wind 8 watches. Only 1 of 4 winders still works. I've read where the little motors inside the box are easy and cheap to repair, but I've not tackled that yet. I think the heavy watches busted the winder.

  6. The cheaper one is the older one. It's got the skinny date font and it's missing the extra tick mark by the 10 on the minute counter at 12:00.

The newer and more expensive one has the correct wider date font and, of course, has the tick mark.

There might be some other differences I'm not aware of. My old EVO was a V2: it had the tick mark but had the skinner date font.
