  1. What you're ^^ looking for doesn't exist.

All the mechanical reps have the wrong sub dial spacing. They're spaced like the reduced version but is the standard size.

Closest one you're gonna find is the one with a ST19 manual wind movement with the wrong spacing.

Only way to get the tight sub dial spacing is to buy a gen

  2. Idk.. I mean. Having a Picasso poster on my wall is a little different than having the actual painting. Watches are art you can wear IMO and a lot of people think of them that way.

The type of people who spend this kind of money on a watch are the same kind of people who play baccarat at 100k a hand. They bet a 100k like I bet $10. So if you think in that range, this price to the owner is probably what a $600 TC is to is normal folk.

    Is it crazy? Yes.

Would I do it if I had that kind of money? Damn straight.

To people who have millions or even billions, buying a 600k watch is like buying a $300 wath to us. I'm sure he could do a lot of good with that money and for all we know, he donates a ton of money to charity.

  3. The Newman Daytona project is by far one of the harder builds to do.

There are a few decent off the shelf reps but they all have their fair share of tells.

Just about any TD listed should be able to get you a decent off the shelf Daytona. Just be sure to look for one where the 6 sub dial isn't cut off at the bottom. The earlier versions seem to suffer from that.

I do like the newmans but the reps of it are crap IMO and messing with a chrono movement is beyond my ability so I just went with a decent off the shelf 6265 (tropical dial).

  4. TC only makes the older non ceramic 16610 (recently started offering the LV Green bezel/maxi dial version).

TCs is considered the best bc the quality is by far better than any rep from china.

It has gen like construction which means it will take gen parts. Dial printing quality is also pretty amazing.

I have a TC v6 and honestly see no point in owning a gen of it. TC is THAT good.

For the ceramic 116610, bk is prob your best bet. He gets his from the noob factory but does quite a bit of mods to them like.. Swapping the movement out to a sellita, using his own date wheel overlay that better mimics the gen. Aligning the dial with the rehaut engravings..etc

Even with all that the ceramics reps are easy to spot IMO. The hands and the bezel are easy tells.

If you want a ceramic sub, your best bet is bk.

If you want a sub that looks closest to gen, TC is the way to go.

Chk out TCs blog. You'll see why it's considered the best sub.

    Just google TC submariner.

  5. i like faded but not beat to [censored].

some discoloration looks great. its when theyre scratched to death and the pearls busted out makes them look like [censored].

    something like this.

    rolex_image.3267773.jpg

    is perfect aging imo.

the last 1680 build i did... used a clark insert. faded and turned blue.

i guess they ran out of black so they repainted the blue ones.

  6. 16660 gens are expensive.

that and the 16800 with matte dial are my grail watches.

id love to build a 16660 and its been done before but they werent cheap.

the DWO with that font is impossible to find.

a gen DW is prob just as hard to find.

a few of them have sold on RWI. stellar builds too.

i believe they were based on the BP SD.

  7. well.. the first thing you need to do is see what size your dial is.

not all rep dials are the same size as gen.

you can buy gen dials off ebay.

rep dials on the forums and various dealers.

but like i said, double check the dial size and what movement the dial is on before buying anything.

  8. youd have to get a Tritium dial, tritium insert, tritium hands to be date correct.

    i think yuki sells them.

TCs also dont have engravings so youd have to get the right serial number engraved.

idk.. sounds weird to me. i can understand buying a birth year gen but a rep?

    and damn.. i feel old.

    i remember 1989!
