  1. I already own a Vintage Oxblood with white stitching Shell Cordovan strap from Drew and last weekend I got a quote from him for the Natural Tan Baseball Glove strap!

Today I sent him the cash for the Baseball one. I'm really looking forward to it and I actually said to him in an email earlier "I reckon this lighter strap will be my 'summer' strap and the darker Cordovan one I currently have will be the 'winter' strap. "

(Until I want another one, that is) ;)

So the answer is simple. Get both.

  2. Someone bought it :(

This guy received negative feedback for a previous auction - It read "ATTENTION ! Vend des copies, descriptions fausses et enchères douteuses..." but now he's set his feedback to private.

I contacted the guy who bought it and he's well [censored] off. He's going to file complaints with pp and eBay.

  3. Also consider using an ink eraser (that is, a rubber eraser for removing pen ink). It leaves a very nice, fine brushed finish on stainless steel. That's what I used for my 005 and I'm happy with the results.

That's worth a try - I've done it using a scourer but I'm not really happy with the result. It just looks like dull grey metal and the scouring pad disintegrated quite nicely!

  4. Hmm.

I hear mentions of screws and tubes. I have screws but not tubes.

I'm guessing this is strap related. When I replaced the bracelet on my PAM005 with a strap, I just undid the screws holding the bracelet and used the same screws to fit the strap.

Should there be tubes there as well? Do the tubes go in the hole in the strap and then the screws go through the tubes?

  5. Scamtastic.

Probably a hacked eBay account. They post pictures of a genuine watch, someone wins the auction, pays and receives nothing. In fact, they may not even contact the winner at all because that person is likely to make payment via pp which is tracable.

In the meantime, they contact anyone else who bid on the auction offering them a deal and asking them to do a cash transfer outside of pp etc. These bidders also receive no watch.

Multiple scams all rolled into one.

  6. I was never a big fan of the sub type of watch. I'd never owned one, and never really been that bothered about them. Then a while ago I noticed the vintage single red and thought how good it looked in some of the pictures posted (I think it was probably Joe's pictures).

Just a couple of weeks ago I saw Andrew's LV for sale and bought one on a whim. When it arrived I had to wait for some extra links for it to fit my large wrists and even then I was still a bit uncertain about whether I liked it or not.

But now I've been wearing it for just a few days and I absolutely adore the look. It's as though it's become something different just by the fact that I've got it on my wrist. Is it true that the Sub is the most popular Rolex watch in terms of sales?

(There's a picture of it on my wrist here if anyone's interested in seeing it)

I'll still be wearing my 005 to work, but at all other times I'm pretty struck by this.

What is the appeal of the Sub? I love it, but I don't know why.

  7. It's holiday season so I've not been out and about too much since I got the extra links for my LV Sub from Andrew but yesterday we were in a restaurant and the waiter just said 'Nice Watch' as he took our order. I just said 'Thank you' back and didn't think anything more of it until Mrs. kasigi mentioned later how exceptionally good the service had been.

Was it related? I don't know but the service was certainly better than usual.

  8. I'm interested as to whether people tend to remove the rolex hologram from their watches?

Might seem a dumb, n00b question but I reckon that the owners of the genuine article would normally remove them and keep them with (maybe stick them on?) their original paperwork. I may be making this up as I go along, but it seems the logical thing to do.

    Don't start me on TRLs!
