  1. Hi all--

I've been away for a while, but I am glad to be back. I have started poking around a bit, looking to add a bit to my collection. But, in the meantime, I have run into an issue. I have a 2893 transplant in my PAM 63, and the crown seems to have broken-- won't wind or change the time, and wobbles-- I am sure I need a new one. Anyone know a good source for this? I have searched but can't find just the right post...

Thanks in advance for your help.

  2. I may be mistaken, but in the US isn't there some consumer rights law that state that a retailer must sell an item for the price that's visibly stated? Or something to that effect? If you're in the US you might want to send a complaint to BBB or some consumer affairs organization about this particular AD. It seems they just pulled an old "bait n switch" on you.

I think so, yes. It's basically a scam to do that, and it is against the law as far as I know.

  3. So if I get the sum of what most of you seem to be suggesting, if I simply start with an MBW watch, put a gen crystal crown and tube in it, trim the CG's, have the rep dial get a vintage relume I will be more than happy and the only other consideration would be whether to get a gen bracelet? How bad is the rep bracelet? Finally, what about scratching/aging the rest of the parts to match the dial?

Honestly... I have a gen bracelet for my SD, and I haven't even put it on other than just to try it. I dont think it's enough better than the rep (after oil and aging) to warrant all the additional cost (it can be costly). Actually thinking of selling mine. Crown, tube, vintage lume or other dial agin, and crystal make all the difference. Then, scratch it, polish, repeat and you are good.

  4. Anyone ever think of having a singer base dial refinished by kirk rich? apparently they do the refinishing for the RSC's.....

They might not wanna do it but if you had a singer V72 dial, and removed all the paint and stuff on top they can't say it's NOT rolex.....

Or maybe some of the rep dials for V72 are good enough that the company would just refinish it w/o question?

Sounds like a solid idea. Give it a try, Steve! Love to see how it came out.

  5. Thanks guys. I tried one of the crystals that Lani used as a source for GMTIIC mags and it wasn't right... way too little mag... canal street all the way when put on a 16110-- must be rehaut depth as Lani says it worked great on the GMTIIC. So, thought of going for a gen... but Tribal and Ubi set me straight there. Thx again.
