The lyrics were great! Americans are so uptight about sex. Come on, live a little! P.S.: I'm just kidding, of course. Especially towards you, you bon vivant, lanikai! Lots of people here would be surprised at how much the rest of the world thinks Americans are sex-mad, based on their movies. Couldn't be farther from the truth, but also, it's a different relaxed sensibility to the French or Italians, too. Takes all kinds, and I happen to love variety. This is why I have 5, no! 6 PAMs...mama mia, questo

E mangio pizza con le mani! This is why they say the British and French are pretentious! And we love it! Hehe.

Someone recently PMed me (in the middle of another conversation, so don't think he was being rude or creepy), that aha! now I know you are really a woman, because you like this watch. I was thinking, Okkkkkkkkay. Why, because it's "cute" -- engraved, with a "picture of a fluffy animal" or something? That's a ferocious lion, people! Ain't no cute fluffy animal, as the Marquess of Bath can attest to when one bit him at Longleat. P.S.: I believe we oopsed, or this website oopsed. Is the Lion Purdey the PAM 152 or 154? http://www.lacotedesmontres.com/Galerie-No_4092.htm

He closed his eyes, his hand wandered with sensual sweetness...you get the drift, Lanikai. If you don't, you should put on some Marvin Gaye and remember.

LUCIO DALLA! Stefano, you have good taste. Like that's news. I offer you a lighter, younger interlude with 883's refrain from Hanno Ucciso L'uomo Ragno: http://www.lyricsdownload.com/883-hanno-uc...gno-lyrics.html "Hanno ucciso l'uomo ragno, chi sia stato non si sa Forse quelli della mala, forse la pubblicit

LOL! That's precisely the type of person and his family which told me that. Later, when I started dating an Italian, I read this book for fun: La Bella Figura: A Field Guide to the Italian Mind http://www.amazon.com/Bella-Figura-Field-G...ooks&sr=1-2 As for the Germans, there yes, being half-German I can attest that men are uneasy with their Dienst, and for a nation which formerly wore and admired uniforms like we British carry umbrellas, they transformed themselves from uni-lovers, to uni-haters. But as I say, it's sensitive history, and getting further OT... It's true. As people know, most military branches issue their personnel speciality watches such as Special Ops, the Commandos, NAVY SEALS, and the like. But I had seen this watch before, because oddly, I had wanted to purchase it. I think it's a Luminox 3905 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000V9IG...1&s=jewelry Sad, but true. They do care about the total ensemble a person wears, but often I noticed they buy one immaculate wardrobe for the whole season, from head to foot, and that's all they wear for those 3 months. Even the women. Quality over quantity. It was semi-cancelled because of the rain. But I did take photos of my PAM 111 in the rain for tomorrow's wrist check!

I've heard that Italians are not comfortable with uniformed personnel, in general. Must be their recent history, as the same is true of Germans... The Carabinieri's unis are tremendous, too, by the way. Elegant, menacing, and yet romantic like only the Italians can make them. Check out his watch! Heh. Let me leave you with this thought until I check the forum, tomorrow. I'm off to a party. What if military personnel are caught wearing a rep watch like a Panerai, say, on the wrist of a capitano di corvetta? Would that be a punishable offence? "Unbecoming behaviour of an officer", etc. Not that I can see that happening, even with a sottocapo, but since we've been talking of legalities this weekend, in another thread...

Is it me, Kruzer00, but are Hublots the next big thing? Are they going to overtake the Panerai in terms of "must-haveness" for many rep collectors? You yourself intimated that Panerais were the jumping off point when the rep industry took on a new, improved character, and I wonder if the same will be true of Hublot. I only say this because in the three other forums I visited this weekend, all I heard were members hoping to buy an HBB, by selling this or that piece of theirs. @Ubi, hehe. Remember, some of his children are half-South Korean, so maybe. -
Heh, sssurfer. Coming from a military family, both sides, I can confirm that neither grandfather would've been amused at of these "military watches" by Purdey (I actually inherited a set of Purdeys from him, well, my father did, but I collect Militaria so they defaulted to me). As an aside, the Italian Marina Militare's uniforms are fantastic. Even the woman looks good. Can't spot the PAM though.

Yes, it is a sophisticated dildo. I'm not ashamed.

Especially if you're calling on a Veptu. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...16&hl=veptu

Well, it seems that 'purtiness' is definitely in the eye of the beholder. The PAM 152 was mentioned several times by such renowned RWGers as Narikaa & Pugwash in the "The Ugliest Genuine Panerai" thread: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...6&hl=purdey Well, pfui on you! Another member is stylin' in his PAM 152. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...1&hl=purdey Hotness, Rolli, hotness. *sizzling steak sounds*

Well, guys, I finally got myself a PAM 152! The infamous engraved Lion's head on the lid of the limited edition Panerai. Here she is! Ain't she a beaut! Hehe. Don't worry, I didn't get that one, although I notice this poor guy did from Jay: http://www.replica-watches-guide.com/forum...3&hl=Purdey That was in August of 2006, so not sure if that was all that was available to him at that time, or if he just didn't know where to look. Or is this genuinely a vintage rep of Marina Militare Panerai?? Seems unlikely. By the way, I'd like to thank Sql_pl for his gorgeous photographs of his girlfriend wearing this Lion on her wrist. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...5&hl=purdey Those are the series of photographs that made me fall in love with the concept of the Panerai watch. From there, it was but a short leap into insanity.

One thing's for sure. Few of us here DO NOT like their own collections. I love my own newbie-starter collection, two VCs, a Patek, 5 PAM, 2 Guccis, 2 Cartier, 1 Omega PO, etc. etc. all of which will be revealed in various wrist-checks throughout the months, possibly years. -

I'd buy from Richard in a second, if he took PayPal... -
Anyone here catch Beckham's 15 minute 2H debut with the LA Galaxy, Saturday? My boyfriend alerted me, and as a curiosity piece we watched it "together" (over the phone...). You'd think it was the second coming of Pele, instead of the fifth reincarnation of David Beckham...but if this makes people in this country more likely to be interested in soccer, all power to him. P.S.: Tommy Smyth has aged enormously, and put on at least 2 stone since last I saw him. And Lalas has cleaned up well for a hippie.

Why do I get a vision of an awkward Jewish kid raising his hands with impeccable comic timing? Woody Allen is that you? That's my observation too, Ubi. The one thing I have found since collecting rep watches is that I had VERY concrete opinions of what I liked, what my style was, and how much I wanted to spend. Since that time, due to the influence (conscious or unconscious) of many members' photos and posts, I have changed my style, I no longer have such definitive impressions of watches (like the PAM), and my Xmas budget is shot to pieces. I may have to eat catfood for a year. But that's the beauty of being here, and I wouldn't trade that for anything. Except maybe a nice Hublot Big Bang. -
Oh God, there goes my possible interest in that watch...at least with President Clinton it seems he has good taste in watches (PAM 089), if not women.

Mais pas une d'Avignon! It's raining and boring where I am, so I decided to go to the Dark Side today, to see what they had on sale. The atmosphere is GOOD, but it's not like this place. It's more sophistikated here... Anyway, I posted on a few threads since I donated a LITTLE something to become VIP there. But I'm even thinking of donating more than $30 here, when we finally get that sorted out. If my funds haven't completed depleted themselves buying straps...

Fred, thanks for asking the n00b question I've longed to ask but was too shy too (I was scared of Stephane! Before he found mercy in his heart). I take it you bought this from Josh? He had it for $108 shipped, and I sure would like to buy one but hesitated before getting this knowledge. Thanks to all who answered.

Comprehensive, as so far as I can see, a very true reply, dluddy. I was going to mention V and his straps in my intro post too. Can we have a subcategory in this category of "admire-taste" thread? Which response do you admire most? -
This is weird. I consider myself in the know, but perhaps I'm naive still. I never knew about the lesbiab-thumb ring thing. Hmm, I must pay attention now, since I thought it was a mere general fad, like tattoos and piercings. By the way, so what? It's not a "signal" or a "secret code" to wear a Panerai watch, to announce you're gay, but even if it were I repeat, so what? If you get that vibe from a man, just pipe up about your wife, or girlfriend, or mention how you'd like to lick the ginormous knockers on the female bartender in the club. They'll get the hint right enough. I'm sure you're not juvenile enough to care about that, if you meant it seriously and not as I took it, with humour, but just on the off-chance there is SOMEONE, ANYONE here who is rethinking getting a PAM because of this "signal" thingie, that's [censored]. Wear what you like, and wear it well. And for God's sakes, get it modded. You don't want to be the only gay guy in the bath house with bad lume.

It Looks Like PAM's Are The "It" Watch in the Hamptons
Victoria replied to Watchmeister's topic in General Discussion
YES! On all similes. Especially the Orgasmatron reference (I'm sure that's what you meant, ahem). But call me crazy, not that you don't already, but I rather like the look of that watch they showed you. Oh, I wouldn't buy it. But I sense potential in it, and in the company, if they get their act together and stop pandering to the cool snowboard crowd only. You totally ruined my reverie. I once turned down a date when a boy came to pick me up wearing a Metallica t-shirt, and ripped jeans -- as if. I'm just concerned that all of us with our Jumbos this, and PAMs that will look awful in 5 years, when spaghetti-thin Guccis make a comeback. I don't care either way, and I love my PAMs, but also, I wouldn't be wearing a bouffant hairstyle today, either. Some things just don't date well. (And let's hope Kollektor, that you still don't have a mullet... ) -

Hardy-dee-har, AMK000! And all of you male members fail in this very simple test. Not one person mentioned MY collection. Don't you know when a woman asks a question, you're supposed to compliment her, regardless of the truth?? Sheesh, what aren't you guys married?? Hehe. P.S.: I just made a small contribution over at The Dark Side, and I feel awful. This is my "home" if you will, for reps, not there. If their PayPal is working, why can't ours be?? I want to support US, pfff. -

Good words, Ubi. Interestingly, I have found that when you have a hobby, any hobby, money comes. I don't know how that is, but I've noticed that true with collectors from antiques, to Beanie Babies... Maybe there's some rep hobby karma god out there? And if so, can we call him Apu?
