  1. Why would anyone replicate a cheap watch like Hamilton? Especially with A7750?

Even some TAGs are borderline cases, but Hamilton... please!

They're nice watches for the money though... but other than $35 quartz reps, it doesn't make any sense to me.

You are assuming that rep makers use any logic in what they choose to produce. We still can't get a 1:1 Submariner, but I have seen reps of low end Seiko and Citizen watches.

  2. depends who the email was from,

i got an email from the secretary to the president of nigeria, telling me about my unrecovered millions,

you dont see me running to the WU office, to pay the 'administrative fees'

I was being vague as I did not wish to advertise for a given site. Usually when a new watch like this is available we hear about it from several sources.

  3. That will be a keeper then, how does the strap smell though???

Not too bad. I was really worried about that. It is a very nice Mario Paci strap. I cleaned it with some two step Zymol leather cleaner and conditioner that I use on my car seats and so far it is holding up nicely and smells more of the cleaner than a nasty moldy smell.

Once again, thank you all for your kind words. It proves that this site is more than just a discussion forum, but a family.

  4. I think this option is better turned on and I will explain why.

Let's say that I put up a sale ad for a chronograph and said that it had a Swiss 7750 in it and sold it for a high price. Then once payment clears I sent out a watch with an A7750 instead of the swiss and changed the post. When the person who I cheated was to receive the watch they could check the post and it would appear that I was an honest seller rather than show proof that the post was edited. Just my two cents, but I like it on.

  5. Hi all!

I have an old Eddie Lee 1950 that has been though hell and is still ticking. I have worn this watch for quite a while until a couple of months ago I threw it in a drawer and forgot about it as I moved on to other watches. I live in the midwest and we are currently going through some pretty heavy flooding. The whole first floor of my house was flooded while I was away and it ruined everything. My TV, entertainment system, furniture, all gone. We had a cleaning crew in the other day and as they were carting out some of my furniture my EL Fiddy fell out. This thing had been underwater in what I can only describe as brown muck for two or three days. I washed it off, set the time and wound it up expecting the worst. That was two days ago and it is still ticking. I know Panerai is supposed to be a dive watch but I was always skeptical of reps. My EL Fiddy is now my new fave again because it is a survivor. Now if only the house did not smell so bad....

  6. Realistically? A Casio G-Shock!

Thank you for breaking the price barrier!

I was going to suggest a Citizen Eco Drive Skyhawk. I have one, it is a solar powered quartz. Updates time via radio frequency from the Naval time server in Colorado. Also can read from time servers in the EU and Japan when overseas. Has a slide rule. It is built like a brick craphouse.

  7. Anything those guys can get, Ruby can get. She is very slow but she doesn't drop ship, she is less expensive when you add in the shipping, she offers an express 6 mo. warranty, and she will replace any items seized by customs. She sends a photo of your watch before shipping which is a nice touch.

There are lots of dealers - Josh and Andrew are ok but they are not the be-all end-all. There are many dealers who offer better and more personal service. Right here on RWG there is an apprentice collector who is very interesting - Eurotimez. I haven't used him yet but I like his attitude. He is more expensive than Josh or Andrew but for a reason...

As has been said, it is up to the consumer to shop dealers - this is what will make them more responsive.

    Good luck

Two weeks ago I was all about buying for the cheapest price. Since then I have received a used watch, a watch that was supposed to have an ETA but did not, and an ugly non working BCE. And one of those three came from a cartel dealer. I am going to have to give Ruby a chance.
