  1. After thinking about what I wrote for a min, there are some very helpful members however on this site. Who ironically helped me with a project pam 027 currently being modded with parts I got from members here. I was commenting on the comments that were made in the thread, not directed to all members. The members who helped me on my project 027 pam, with the DW, and Cyclops were nothing less then super nice and helpful.
  2. I rarely if ever come to this forum, but happened to check on the old topic that I posted. I can see why I rarely do come. While nobody would care if I was here or not, knowing that theres a ton of guys on this forum who know tons more about watches then I do. I'm only a single watch collector of both gens, and reps, and like enjoying projects. My question was about parts fitting the upo. However there is post after post about how dumb it is to mod a rep. This is bogus. The entire forum is filled with modding a rep. Buying a rep is dumb to some people, and they could go on and on about their reasons it would be. On a rep forum, I cant believe after asking a few questions more members comment on the mod itself them offering advise. Why is there 6 pages of "we are sorry to see you go, The Zigmeister" posts who is a modder of watches, if modding a rep is so lame. (sorry to see him go to Ive never sent him anything but sure apprecaite reading his posts) If how accurate a rep was was not important then all the posts on the forum would simply be who has a good price on such and such a watch. Nobody would care about the CG, Woky Crystal, hand stack, crown, mis-spelling, wrong logo, bad lume etc. If you want perfect buy a gen, blaaa blaa blaa. This is a rep forum. I wear many rolex gen watches, gen breitling, gen panerai, and other brands. I fill up my watch box with select reps, sometimes with very expensive mods. Why, because its my money and thats what I choose to do. The modders dont tell me Im a idiot they gladly except my cash, and do a great job on rep watches. Sorry for the rant, and I know from a very inactive, newer member, what does my thoughts even matter. Im on bottom of the list. But perhaps there would be more ones like me in the shadows who would be active if members were more friendly, and less political. Rant over.
  3. Have you concidered the 027a that river has with the 2892-A2 movement same as gen? Its pricey but as far as a accurate P.R. pam is concerned maybe this is what your after. River only has 4 more, they'll never be made again. The last 4 left forever!
  4. Got mine in today and love it too! The strap is stiff however. But chrono is great. My datewheel doesnt line up perfect, i'm getting that modded. For the money, its a great watch. This is my first gold rep, I have tons of SS reps but for some reason couldnt pass it up.
  5. get ofrei to send you a gen.
  6. While I agree the bezel/insert are good, the insert is by far not great. The insert doesnt line up.
  7. $280 for the UPO, $600 for the upgrades. Im not concerned about the "just buy a gen" posts. (NOT DIRECTED @ YOU CABLE GUY!!!!!) I own alot of very high end gen watches, and this is a project Im doing is more for education then anything else. Alot of the mods will help guys know what works on the UPO and what doesn't. One of the modders is working with me. Im not concerned about the cost too much. If its over $1000 so be it. The gen is $2300, and Its not like Im doing it to ever sell it. I like the gen watch, but not so much to buy one. This project will benefit more people then myself.
  8. Id imagine the bidders to are fake.
  9. Ah Im not replacing the crown or HE valve. Why? Well the HE valve Im not sure will fit. And who cares its not a working HE valve anyway I figure. The crown on the UPO is already good as well.
  10. LOL, that is prob why one of the hands, and the crystal is on B.O.for the last few weeks. I'd imagine hes more then happy with all the orders! If the gen insert fits the UPO bezel I'd go that route, one way or another either Ive got to order the entire bezel, or just the gen insert. The UPO bezel seems to be nice, but the insert doesnt line up. Nobodys ever changed the rep bezel with gen, or the rep insert with gen?
  11. I searched this but couldn't find the answer. I'm modding a UPO hands/dial/crystal, and wanted to replace the bezel. Does anyone know if the gen bezel will fit the 45mm UPO? The bezel on the UPO is not horrible, except for the pearl, but it doesnt line up right. Has anyone replaced the bezel with gen? Of course parts are coming from Ofrei. Any help would be apprecaited!
  12. The lack of sticker means nothing most gen owners take them off.
  13. Doesn't this site charge sponsors? Why charge members, I'd have the sponsors pay a small fee monthly if they already don't. And why not ask members to contribute a couple of bucks to place ad on the site for a sale item? I'm a admin on a big forum, and out forum is paid for by sponsor fees, and donations. Ask the dealers to kick a watch to the admin every 90 days or something, and raffle it off.
  14. I agree 100% I can see a AD maybe having a beef. But a watch is a watch. Im guessing, maybe Im wrong most small watchsmiths havent seen a gen pam watch. My dad have a jewler look at his rep ann sub, and the guy asked him, "is it real?" He really didnt know if it was. A pam is alot less common, Im hoping the guy just does some the work. I have a ann perfect sub from andrew, UPO, SOSF, the 055 pam that ive been talking about, and a other pam on the way. I can keep the watch guy busy....my collection is growing still.
  15. I also know it may not be needed but I wanted to say sorry to two tone for my response. I'm a admin on a forum for electronics, and its a very hard job. Thanks for having me, no disrespect intended.
  16. Good to know, I bought my wife a new Bulova watch yesturday from a dealer at the "mall" She needed it sized and a new battery be installed, the watch store was totally clueless and didnt have the battery for her new watch, and couldnt size it, since the pins were tight. Anyway long story short, they gave it to the local watchsmith to do. My wife went to his shop to pick up her new watch today. Anyway, i think by the sounds of it hes going to be a guy I need to get to know! Hes not in the best part of town, has a small shop, and does all the things at his shop for places that dont have a watchmaker. Im fairly sure I scored a watchsmith! I really hope so. I ordered a brown 055 dial today for $40 from Davidson (who is great about emails by the way) and soon as I get it Im going to see if I can get it installed. I'm not a newbie to watches, I own gen rolex watches but am semi new to the modding a rep. Question........ is changing a dial a job that can be done while i wait, if time permits, or is it the type of job that takes awhile?
  17. Got cha, yesturday I found a local watchsmith, and we'll see!
  18. Humm, very interesting. That would make sense why the watch was taken so serious. Someone went to great lenghts to make people think the 055 white was a real. I read the link carefully and it sounds like he made a great watch. I wonder what the link could of been between the two? Its said the dial on the 055 is 99% perfect even under a loop. I did contact davidson, and hes sending me a brown dial, but this is very interesting. Thank you for all the info.
  19. Davidson is sending me a brown 055 dial, is this something a local watch guy can put in or is it best to find someone more experienced with rep pams such as those found here?
  20. I just read that thread you posted but I already read that before. If you read it carefully there still is debate in the thread if the white 055 existed. The link to the other forum, where Enzo chimes in was now edited on the other forum with the header "sorry for any confusion". But never says anymore. I never read Enzos post before it was edited. As a admin, i'd try to give a newbie even the benefit of the doubt. I already read that thread. It ended up with someone ordering it from Davidson. But as you can read in it theres little info if the 055 white is a gen watch or not. Some said yes, some said no. This is why I started the other 055 thread, which I'd think alot of people maybe benefitting from. Its a interesting topic. Again sorry for any problem that this has caused. But the search feature was already used.
  21. Thank you for the reply. I didnt start two threads on the subject, the other thread is a discussion of the white pam 055 that I asked after many posts if i could change the dial and by who. Sorry that it appeared like that I posted in two areas the same question. It is true that I joined "this" forum yesturday, but im not new to the forum world. I emailed 1 modder over 1 week ago and never heard back. The other modder I learned on another forum had email issues and this is why the email I sent him never was answered. I actually emailed them on a different subject, as now I have two watch projects. Sorry for the misunderstanding. And thank you for having me on your forum.
  22. Yes the watch i have is a Ti. I'll be reading all the threads you sent ssurfer. However just briefly reading the thread Ken (remember Im a newbie) is a rep watch seller/maker? dluddy- I'm gonig to email him. I'm having a horrible time getting a hold of any modder to install it however. Im not sure if these guys are so tied up, or they dont know me yet. But if Davidson can get me a dial, that would be perfect if I can get it super lumed and installed.
  23. It seems i cant do much with my 055 white dial davidson, and am wondering who is best to send it to to replace the dial with the correct 055 dial. I've emailed a few modders but nobody has gotten back to me. Can someone send me in the right direction??
