Hmmm...so thats a no?

Perspective check: This is a $200 replica watch. Try not to be so into yourself. I have not heard of you, but your costs probably outweigh the cost of buying a brand new watch so I would not go to you anyway. Remember, my intent is not to knock the craftsman...just the manner in which he comes across as pompus. I am willing to give someone else a try thats all I am saying. I am sure there are many hobbiest out there who can do this job fine and could even break out from under this kind of Pompus behavior with someone who recognizes this for what it is......a $200 rep...not a $5000 gen. Geez, any takers?

I need a new cannon pin (longer one) put into my Pam 6497. This is the Swasian model...or so it was claimed when sold. She's pretty though . I am tired of walking around on pins and needles for a certain crotchety , disheartened, better than thou modder on RWG. You know who you are. I am quite sure there are other modders on this site who can perform this function just fine and won't put down others efforts or mistakes just to progress there own personal business (which, for the record, is coming across as a crotchety, disheartened, never apologizing, get in line and wait or go somewhere else business) Well I am capable of getting in line with someone else . I am quite sure there are others capable and this is not a one horse town as he would like everyone to believe. I have heard several names out there but would like some more names. USA preferable. No need to be scared of posting suggestions here as I said, there are others very capable on RWG.......Lets grow

It doesn't look like an engraving at all. I think it is the stick on letters. I have a watch like this and one of the a's fell off so I removed all of them so I would not end up with some letters in my works/gears. They were crooked anyway just like these pictured are so I figured it was beater watch anyway what the hey.

Ok..I have a Pan 111h "Swiss" model rep from last year. The rep (I thought) was top of the line. I used to wear this watch around with the niavity of a naked baby running around a room full of strangers. Then I got a membership on here. Since then I have discovered many flaws in my rep......but two of which scream FAKE. For the record, I am not a perfectionist by any means. I know this is a rep watch and would never pass it off as a gen, but I do want to be able to wear my watch around anyone with the same kind of niavity as before. Anyone that is into Pan's will immediately recognize two major problems with this watch from arms length. 1.Cannon pin problem 2. LSwissMadeL tucked to close to the six. There are many other problems with my dial like the lume color is not right and a list of others......but you really have to have another Pan sitting right next to it to see those problems. The rule of thumb I use for my Reps is to have as accurate of a rep as possible just short of having to have a Gen next to mine for comparison. Once you cross the line of comparing side by side, it just becomes really extreme and I think a little to picky to be honest. Let me phrase it more like this....I am not as an elite/pro hobbyest as those who take it to that level. I am more on the level of the weekend warrior hobbyest when it comes to my purchases. That being said, I am up for buying a new dial 111 with the proper LSML spacing but can't find the dial anywhere. I am not picky here either..just that one thing should be right, any other improvements (A's font or any other technical improvement) included will be great. Any suggestions? I have also been unsuccessful at finding someone who can solve/fix the cannon problem. Any suggestions? (other than The Zigmeister...as this is probably a really trivial job for him...from what Ive read, He's then type of WS that you want to bring your watch to when the sheet hits the fan and you want to have the job done well and right the first time.)

We were on the same page as you yellomen so I emailed Puretime several days ago but have received no responce as of this morning. The search continues................

Yes I asked for that particular dial when I emailed him. Davidsen told me he does not have that dial and asked me to look for it with other dealers. Kinda seemed a little wierd he wouldn't suggest another similar model. I have always thought he was the best out here and really hate to have to buy it elsewhere....but whats a guy to do? Anyway, it doesn't really concern me if its this particular dial, I just like the spacing of the "L Swiss Made L". If you know someone who can sell me a dial with that spacing...and with a little less green hue to the lume..I would be very happy. I am not a perfectionist, I just want the things you see from arms length to be somewhat correct. Thanks for any help you can provide...my "goto" guy doesnt seem to want to help.

Anyone????????

I would like to buy this dial. Davidsen tells me he does not have this dial anymore. What model is it? I think it is the 111? Anyway. If you sell this dial, pm me and give me a quote. The lume looks a little green so if yours is not as green that is fine.

I just got done reading a thread that basically trashed Davidsen. WTF!!! No wonder I paid so much for my last watch from him. WOW!!!.......Go buy a gen and quit crying. Remember....a replica is a replica. Don't buy from him anymore. Go buy from someone else and stop crying......see what you get from another dealer....no one is perfect and no rep is perfect. Cut the dude some slack. I love my Davidsen . Remember, everytime someone makes him send out another free watch because their replica watch does not have 100% Gen accuracy....we all have to pay the price.!!! No wonder Rep prices keep climbing!! Ever wonder why you gotta pay so much for a rep watches when they are still just a rep watch? If we as rep purchasers just stick to recommending the best reps out there and recommend where to purchase them from (and buy from that person) than the best rep maker will continue to get the business and the poor quality watches and their dealers will fade away. Why trash a good dealer and cause him to raise his prices? No need to make a stink with one guy (Davidsen) because you built him up in our own mind to be the God of the rep world. Its not his fault he could not sell you a Gen watch at Rep prices. He is just one dealer (a really good one in my opinion though at this time) So if you think you can do better with another dealer...don't trash the guy....just buy from someone else!!!! Duhhh!!! Any dealer seeing his sales slump because they are going to another dealer with better quality should cause the lesser dealer to pick up his game....or get out of the game completely if he can't hang. It is a win win situation for everyone concerned.....we get better quality, better customer service, and better pricing. Isn't that what we want anyway? Davidsen will keep selling watches, so don't think your money is what pays his bills. Let's turn this around on the dealers. We (RWG) have the power. Rep dealers come and go and are a dime a dozen. (Sorry Davidsen, not to make you sound like a cheap prostitute but....) We can determine who we want to buy a watch from based on positive comments about the best quality and best prices out there for rep watches. Davidsen (if you even read this stuff).....keep up the good work and put out the best.

I am looking for some help. I need advise on who to send my watch to so I can have it modded. I would like to have a new dial put on. I will purchase this dial and send it to whomever can do the mods. So I guess this is kinda a three fold request. First who has the best 111 dial? I want one with correct A's , the correct spacing of the L Swiss Made L and the correct color lume. I am not a perfectionist or I would buy a gen....I just want those three items correct. I want a new pinion put in to correct the stubby pinion problem. This is the most technical mod from what I read. Last but not least....I think I can do this mod though. I read a thread on this mod and I stayed at a Holiday Inn. Tap the lever pin towards the front a little then sand and put correct finish on the pin. Really, the modder I will send my watch to will be able to do these three mods......and be honest. Any suggestions? If you have some, please supply me with names and emails. 10Q.

WOW I can't believe you think so. That link supplied shows a watch with the same old pinion problem and the same obvious "swiss made" crunched into the six problem. Who cares if the A font looks better......you gotta get all up in the sauce to see the font of an A

This one guy I know states he only sells genuine watches but he's a member of a Replica Forum Site

Hmmm..interesting. I have the Lamania handwind movement (in a speedmaster) I had a problem with the winding where it would not hold its winding. It would unwind as soon as I let go of the crown. Is this the problem you are refering to? I took my speedy to a local watch guy and it did not have the problem in front of him with me standing there. I felt like an idiot because I was trying to explain the problem, but the problem had some how fixed itself. He said nothing was wrong with the movement after he inspected it, but he placed some oil on the clicker thinking it may have been stuck open thus allowing the movement to unwind.

Question: How do you keep your watches safe?
894tom replied to arty909's topic in General Discussion
This may be true for you, but when it comes to someone with several thousand invested in watches...... Gotta think of something.......we're not living in the 50's anymore. This is 2008 the year of Me Me Me...what can I do to please me....mmm drugs!!!!!! I like the dog idea.....except I have a dog already that pees on herself when she sees strangers........so I don't think she will "play" well with a new mean watch dog. I guess I am stuck with the ole ADT sign and Beware of Rotti sign. I also like the cheap safe in plane view idea and I love the rotten eggs inside. BUT...if they come in when I am there....."Say hello to my little friend"!!! Or to put it another way=I will have to call 911 and tell them a church goer has just entered my house. The 911 call will sound like this: 911- Hello 911 what is your emergency sir? Me- You better hurry up and get here there is a Holy man in my house. 911- Sir that doesn't seem like a Police emergency. Me- Well he wasn't holy before he came in my house...and oh yeah bring some sponges and bleach. See you soon. -

This thread is not about purchasing an accurate replica. -
Panerai- Asian movement vs. the Swiss Movement
894tom replied to 894tom's topic in General Discussion
I just dont think some people will get the point Andy.....maybe if they read it one more time with an open mind....probably not though.....lol. I have said my point in about 5 different ways and still......cricket, cricket, echo, echo You hit the nail on the head Andy....again. By the way, thats the older style movement I was talking about earlier in this thead...great pic. I can bet there is an ETA stamp right under the balance wheel too. -
Panerai- Asian movement vs. the Swiss Movement
894tom replied to 894tom's topic in General Discussion
Sir, you definetly don't understand my point this entire thread I guess. Both Tourby and I have agreed that the only true 100% Swiss movement is the ETA movement. All others movements in reps are Swasian or Asian rep mix. What I (and others) recommend is make one of two choices when buying a rep watch....save money and get the basic serviced Asian movement....or ask for the real ETA in your watch. Don't spend the extra money for the Swasian. The Swasian is just an Asian movement then called Swiss because of a couple Swiss parts added into the mix. Why pay more for this marketing scheme (the Swasian movement)? Thats my only point. A rep watch is a rep watch and will most likely contain (unless specifically asked for) a rep movement. The cheap Asian and the Swasian will both last just as long as each other because they are basically the same movement...and as myself and other members add...when something goes wrong with either the Asian or Swasian, you just can't get any parts for these movements but you sure as heck can do so with a gen 100%ETA. This concept seems so simple and clear to me but it is a hard hurdle to jump over when so much money is invested in buying and selling the Swasian movement. I have accepted this fact about my Swasian movement....and I am perfectly happy with it anyway....and you can be too. Remember I am not knocking the Swasian movement, its just as good as my Asian...and I am happy with that one also -
By chance.....(what are the odds of this?) Where did you get the Swiss Army watch?
