  1. I don't know if I would want the manual wind one with an A7750 movement...even with the newer tight dial spacing layout. Have people forgotten the issues of handwinding movements that were meant for auto-winding??

The Seagull wrong-spaced movement is a workhorse intended for handinwinding...but the A7750 was not.

Read this thread for more info: Watchdog's Why Handwinding is Bad

The article points out handwinding in general is bad...less bad on a newly serviced movement, done at a slow speed...but still bad.

If you mod the movement to make it seem "more authentic" by removing the rotor and auto-winding assembly...you'll just end up with a watch that needs regular replacements and more intensive cleaning.

Thanks for the thread, I didn't know that...

Very informative indeed. I will be very gentle with my crowns...

Sorry to ask, my english is a little rust, but are you saying that the A7750 modified will come (modified again) on the speedies in order to become handwinding?

If this is right, I agree with you. I won't buy a rep moonwatch (Caliber Omega 1861)

manual-winding 3570.50.00 with that configuration and prefer the one which is sold now.

But in this case, with this new movement, I'm interested in a Rep (Caliber Omega 3603, 3612, 3313)

    Self-winding chronograph.

  2. That's the answer I needed, thanks a lot.

Well, choosing a rep sub is now becoming very difficult, we have at least three very good models on this board.

Euromariner, WM9, PT's... Hard to decide.

Last month I was ready to buy an Euromariner, this month the BK's WM9...

It's really good to see this competition for "perfection".

As Mr Spock says: Live long and prosper RWG.

  3. Hi mates, I'm a little bit confused with the submariner WM9.

I'm used to be more often on the Omega area.

I understood that we can purchase a WM9 from PT, BKLM and directly from WM9?

My english must be bad, so I'm sorry to ask that question but is the one from BKLM1234 a supermodded WM9?

  4. Last year I had a motorcycle accident with my SMP on my wrist.

After the crash I stood up and began to check my hurts, exept too little holes on my knee, I was allright.

But after a closed look to the vizor on my helmet I realized that it saved half of my face.

Without it I was the new phantom of the opera...

    Wear your helmet bikers mates!

So While I was checking my injuries, I saw my poor SMP chrono on my wrist.

Destroyed, I surfed the tarmac with it on 20 meters.

My hand and my arm were OK, but regarding the exploded glass, the very deep scratches on the bezel and the clasp, I can say that my SMP chrono saved my wrist as my helmet does for my pretty face.

Still working fine I decided to rebuilt it.

Stage 1: New aftermarker insert, new gen crystal, new rep bracelet

I decided to keep the scratched bezel as it was to keep the adventurer look.

Gen 2220.80 rep old factory 2254.50 and STAGE 1 Homer's SMP chrono.

    wah015.jpg

I wasn't happy with my work, it wasn't finished.

Minute hand was bended, the dial suffered and remaining scratches began to p...s me off.

Stage2: I decided to buy all the gen parts I could and the tools too.

This time for two projects, my black SMP is involved too this time.

The 2 projects idea came from a mistake, when I ordered a gen used bezel and insert for the chrono.

the Seller shipped me the one for the classic SMP case.

So I bought new gen dial and gen hands for the chrono, and a complete case AR coated of this model from trusty:

    smpblack.jpg

    Do you see the insert?

This is the best, close to perfection, pearl is flat, centered and the font is accurate.

    Now it's becoming complicated...

I took off the gen blue insert to put it on the new case bezel.

I removed the previously bought crystal in order to replace it on my black SMP as I made for the perfect black insert Which is now on the gen SMP bezel.

    Am I clear?

I had to remove the bezel from the case to install the blue insert.

Now it's impossible to put it back...

The bezel construction is not the same, the "centering metal string" (sorry I don't remember the exact name ) placed between bezel and case can't stay in.

I tried everything, no way, I'm not skilled...

So I'm ready to ship everything to Tomhighway, He'll do that for a very fair price.

    In summary:

My black one will have a gen crystal a gen bezel and a perfect rep insert.

My chrono will have gen dial gen hands and gen insert.

This hobby is really becoming better and better for my wallet...

  5. Hi Stevie,

On this board, you'll have all the answers you need.

My advice is read, read and read again, all the questions you're asking have been already answered almost 100 times at least...

Almost nobody will answer to you because of that, if you read the introduction to RWG, you'll check that easily...

There is a comparo between the watch you seek and other great Rolex reps, read it.

But for a short answer, reps like this one are waterproofed, they NEVER last like a gen but they are good.

The movement? pff... ETA 2836-2 is the common mov. used for this kind of watch.

Long story, I repeat again, read...

But if you are going to pay for a swiss ETA 2836-2, be sure it is, ask your seller and inform yourself.

The swiss ETA and the Asian ETA is one of the most discussed topic here.

PT is a trustful seller like the others on this board.

Make your own choice of your dealer and stay with him if it works fine for you...

    My 2 cents...

  6. Well, I had the same one from one of our trusted sellers.

To me it's a clone, I sent him back for that reason, he surely never agreed it was.

Anyway, he accepted without any condition.

So, I'm sure now we all have almost one clone Eta in our collections.

I must be wrong, but if only one stamp is missing and if the gears looks like in the Eurotimez tutorial, I send it back or I ask for a retroactive discount.

    My 2cents...
