  1. If I were YOU I would read the very informative Newbie Guide here on this Forum site ... it'll help you realize what are lies and what is truth in this hobby.

This is indeed the real thing to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Why these "!"?

Because that's what everyone has to read landing here.

I know, it's not enough visible, and everybody here will tell you to read, read and read more....

BTW, @ admin: Please spot on that newbie guide to make it the compulsory thing to read before entering in RWG.

Kind of NEWBIE COME HERE RIGHT NOW!

I found it, a couple of days ago  and I'm here since two years!

  2. Sorry to see you're having problems :( ...for what it's worth, that's the wrong type of caseback opener for the Seamaster back anyway which is probably why you couldn't get the back off.

    Yeah, thanks...

This tool was working perfectly, I opened and closed all my omegas several time with it.

I think Domenico used a big bergeon one to secure the case so my my little tool wasn't tough enough after that.

Did you try the duct tape method?

What about? To strengthen the damaged tool?

  3. I was ready to play the watchmaker

    Everything was set.

Tools ready, tutorial on screen, yoga done...

    IMG_0103.jpg

Et voila! I'm definitely damned on watchmaking...

    IMG_0104.jpg

    Really, I MEAN IT.

Easy to say for me but I swear that usually I'm not bad with my hands

 After one hour of attempts, my case opener died and the caseback didn't move a micron.

I'm p.... off, but I'll try a last time with a jaxa type opener.

    :D Another laugh coming...

  4. By looking at the PT pictures, the hour markers look very different in separate photos. Some showed a thicker metal rim while one pic shows very thin rims - close to the spec of gen.

Would like to see the actual version when Star69 receive his.

Mmmh... I don't like that, I'll ask him what is the right model..

  5. I scratched the glass while I was taking off the insert.

Domenico answered me, He swapped the bezel.

He put back by mistake the old insert, nobody is perfect.

He told me that he had to modify deeply the case in order to install the gen bezel.

    I checked that.

It clicks so good now, a member wrote that Domenico is an engineer, I think he's right.

I began, now I 'll finish and clean my mess.

I'll use all the tools I bought to change insert and glass.

And then... maybe... I'll join the private self-modders club...

  6. I'm not bad in Omega, but it's definitely not the same in rolex...

I read on the board everything I could from the V1 to the V5.

I was about to pull the trigger on the V5 from Chris but PT came back with his supreme DSSD.

There is still no reviews on the last one.

Experts! please, What should I do?

  7. Domenico returned me the watch with most of the gen parts not installed.

    He changed only the dial.

But, considering the insert is not aligned anymore, I think that he tried to put the gen bezel and then gave up.

    IMG_0094.jpg

I know, bad pic... Just an Iphone to use for now, sorry...

    IMG_0092.jpg

Lume shot with my gen 2220.80

As you can see, there is a color difference between the gen dial and the rep hands on this pic.

    IMG_0099.jpg

But curiously, I can't see a difference with my eyes and on this pic... ????

As he is on vacation, I cannot ask to him whether the gen parts didn't made it or if he did not have time to do it.

Now, I want to finish the work myself.

It remains me to install the gen bezel and the gen glass.

Does anyone knows if the gen glass and gen bezel fits on this "closed factory"?

  8. Ok, Now it's done.

I just received my watch from Domenico.

I had to sent him back one last time, the stem became apparently too short with the gen crown...

    Don't ask me...

unscrewing the crown, made me directly go to the date change.

So I did not have access to the power reserve.

Sorry for the poor iphone pics, no real camera for now...

    IMG_0096.jpg

As you can see, this is a speedy bracelet.

Kind of fantasy, On my taste it's not bad at all.

    IMG_0097.jpg

    With my gen 2220.80

    IMG_0095.jpg

Lume shot, no photoshop just after 5 min of sun exposition

Domenico relumed only the hands, no color difference between gen dial, Good job...

I'm really happy, after two years past to seek parts, this one is finished.

    Still my 2254.50 to go.

    My god...This hobby...

  9. I'm relatively new here, so apologies if this is a silly question...

I'm looking for a quartz rep for daily use. I'm after a rep of a gen quartz model, but I'm not sure which models are the quartz, maybe an older model?

Am a fan of both speedmasters and seamasters, but not the really 'busy' looking watches.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Bob

You'll not find any good omega's quartz rep.

Gen Quartz Seamasters 300 exists in all sizes, but there is no speedmasters with a quartz movement.

My advice is to forget quartz and go for an automatic SMP rep , you'll find everything to know on this board... Read, read, read...

But if you really want an Omega quartz , go for a used gen SMP quartz reference 2541.80, With patience, you could make a good deal with it.
