  1. I really love this style Daytona - the 2005 limited edition I guess it's called. My favorite of the modern Daytonas.

But I'm not willing to risk $300 to this new collector, the pricing does not make sense.

And you are right freddy about its looks, unfortunately I've seen much nicer versions of this Daytona.

  2. I ran across this on TRC also and something doesn't seem right - doesn't the movement alone cost $300?

How can he offer this for so cheap, the least expensive rep Daytona swiss movement I've seen offered by a collector was for $600.

Also the number indices should be dark, not silver.

  3. Vic, I'd stay away from the modern Daytonas, the movement is too unstable.

I'd also suggest a vintage Daytona with the manual wind movement - beautiful, elegant, rare design, super-reliable movement and the 37mm case size should fit your wrist impeccably.

I think I'm going to get one after elpremirozen's review.

  4. I'll tell you who has gone down in Chicago- Smart Jewellers in Lincolnwood.

They had an overnight heist a few years ago and now they have a lot more under $500 watches than they used to.

There's this one younger salesman, owner's son I think, who doesn't like me, goes out of his way to ignore me when I walk in, I guess he's shown me watches one to many times without me buying anything, but so what.

I don't go there anymore, not worth it.

  5. Not to get Mens' Vogue-y here, but, gold and black sport watches are very in right now, look at the latest issues of all the watch magazines, they are full of glossy photos of gorgeous watches with gold/rose gold cases and black dials.

I think tey're great, a nice departure from steel.

  6. Wow, my two favorite cocktails - Manhattan and Sidecar.

I'm impressed with the Sidecar mention, it's so obscure.

I really enjoy making cocktails at home for friends, makes me feel very urbane and gracious

I always try to use fresh squeezed lemon juice in my cocktails really makes a difference.

tmg, if you want to try something a bit different, substitute gin for the cognac in your Sidecar, I think it's really good and tangy.

  7. I spoke to Tony last night and he said that his offers will be back up on cqout in a few days, with updated descriptions.

The interesting part is that his payment options will not include PayPal anymore, so draw the obvious conclusion as to what happened.

I still can't get over the quality of the watches I've acquired from Tony, I'm so glad I found him.
