  1. Hi all, I recently got this watch from Tonyxkf at cqout.com, advertised as a "swiss case" Seamaster chrono. I was intrigued by the description.

It's supposed to be blue dial/bezel, as you can see, the blue is very dark, almost black.

That doesn't bother me because I like it very much. I dunno, don't have an asian 7750 to compare, maybe this is the same case and bracelet used for the 7750 version, maybe not, but the finish of this watch is superb. There is a wave pattern on the dial face, just not visible in this pic.

The chronos re-set perfect, the bracelet is super comfortable and the links taper in cross-section like the expensive ones, all in all I am delighted with this acquisition, especially for the price.

  2. Not sure what you're asking but I remember jfreeman saying the gen DJ case seems bigger than rep, wears bigger.

I'm right now thinking of getting a DJ too, maybe from Ruby. Her quality is tops?

I'd like all SS, dark blue whorl dial, new style arabics, smooth bezel, not sure if jubilee or oyster bracelet.

    Whatchu thinking of getting?

  3. Congrats on the 10K Pug, remarkable.

Here's a relevant question, I think - how many of you e-mail the dealers with webstores directly instead of purchasing thru the store? That is, politely asking for a friendly discount?

Just curious, I have not bought a watch from our collectors for a long time, never used the webshops they've set up. Last time I bought a watch from Joshua, over 6 months ago I e-mailed him directly. I wonder if now he will direct me to purchase from his webshop.

  4. Done the big downtown party thing many times, over it.

We're hanging out in our vacation home in Indiana, 2 blocks from Lake Mich.

The two of us will have a nice dinner, some champagne. Maybe a walk along the lake afterwards. Doubt if we'll see the fireworks at Navy Pier from our shore since it's so overcast and humid today.

Happy New Year to everyone, enjoy and be safe.

  5. Hi everyone - slow day today, I was sitiing here thinking that as watches get bigger and heavier, the springbars that come with our reps and hold the bracelets in place are subjected to a fair amount of strain.

I'm positive that these spring bars are not very good quality and can fail - one day you are walking down the street and your gorgeous ultimate Evo falls off your wrist and after picking it up you see that it's scratched up and dented. Hasn't happened to me yet but it makes me shudder.

Do any of you routinely install new, high quality spring bars after you receive your rep?

If yes, where do you get your spring bars from?

Also, do you ever have any problems when trying to install new springbars?

In avance, thanks for your replies.

  6. Yes, he does have a shop - Perelku Jewelers, and he's on the corner, I don't know exactly which one because I've never been in there.

He's on one of those 6 way intersections with the diagonal street breaking up the north-south grid - Lincoln, Irving park & Damen.

I'm tempted to go there, I just examined my MBW blue dial TT Sub and found some brown tarnish on the gold links :o

So I gently polished them and in doing so I heard an ominous rattle inside, a loose rotor me thinks.

He should be able to handle that.

  7. OK, what about the future availability of ETA movements and replacement parts for our reps?

I can't find the exact thread but I recall a forum discussion concluding that it is better to acquire reps with cheaper asian movements because in the future you will be able to inexpensively swap them out as needed and they will be readily available, whereas the ETA movements and parts will be very tightly controlled and not available to our rep-friendly neighborhood watchsmith. Then what?

I remember that this thread gave me a bit of alarm, thinking about future servicing needs of my expensive ETA reps.

  8. Excellent review, your photo skills are admirable, Pix. I think that is a very good looking watch, for the price, who cares about inaccuracies.

I should be getting an Omega Seamaster chrono from Tonyxkf any day now.

It is advertised as working japanese chrono with "swiss case" - supposedly the same case used in the asian 7750. Interesting.

I first saw it from Tos, but he won't take any less than $120.

I showed Tony a pic and he said he has the exact same, I'm getting it from him for $82.
