  1. Very, very nice!

    Thanks for the review.

I like this design a lot, the beautiful curves of the case and I love the treatment of the chrono pushers, this is just a really nice design where everything fits amd flows well into each other. To me the HBB looks like it was put together with left over parts.

I'd love one on steel bracelet, I wonder what the quality of it is.

    Wear it well.

  2. Interesting.

So if I challenge a parking ticket in the city of Chicago by asking for photographic proof (which I'm quite sure there is none) I can possibly get off?

I really appreciate your advice, this is such a problem in Chicago. I've become a bit stressed out when I use a parking meter, I've had such bad luck.

  3. I provide graphic design services, printing and other media expertise to a government mandated mass transit organization in the metro Chicago area.

My forte is designing elegant, customer and internal friendly forms, maps, timetables, posters and brochures.

It feels good to be a part of a solution to the gasoline crisis we are in these days.

  4. In Chicago they've gotten VERY aggressive in handing out the parking tickets within the last 2 years or so, the city needs more money to pay for all the beautiful plantings, I guess.

They have these parking enforcement flunkies roving around with the handheld tablets, just waiting for your meter to expire, spitting out HUNDREDS of dollars worth parking tickets ever hour, they get them off welfare, pay them minimum wage and they make the city an awful lot of money.

You show up 2 MINUTES late to your meter and you have a $50 parking ticket - same fine as if you parked and blocked an alley or on the sidewalk (WTF???)

I just got a $100 ticket for parking within 15 feet of a hydrant in my neighborhood, which I DIDN"T, I was a good 20 feet away but try to prove it.

I've had to give City of Chicago coffers about $800 in the last 2 years in parking fines, makes me sick to think about it.

  5. OK, just for you corgi - someday plan a trip to Manhattan, before you go look up Metropolitan Arts Society walking tours.

Every time we go we take one of their offbeat, quirky yet supremely satisfying and interesting tours to parts of the city one would normally not even think of visiting.

These tours have totally opened our eyes to what an unusual, historic, quirky town Manhattan is.

Besides, there are, what, 4 shops devoted to NOTHING BUT TIMEPIECES there. One can see practically every timepiece currently in production.

The museums, culture, food emporiums, interesting shops, interesting organizations to join - New York Geological Society - they go digging for fossils every weekend.

I have such a passion for Manhattan - I sputter, I can't even articulate it.

If I was obscenely wealthy my partner and I would move to Manhattan in a "New York" minute.

  6. My goodness Vic, you really do remember things.

Yep, my GF and I do joke around about the (ahem) unusual medical situations she and her DJ find themselves in - such as up to her elbows in the ceremonial excised bowel section cutting-openings she has to do in the OR suite, yuck. She truly earns her money.

  7. After watching the video of the chrono service it makes me truly realize what goes into the manufacture of a genuine watch and how the rep factories could never even begin to reach this level of perfection.

I think I'm going to start saving up for a gen.

  8. Those amusing verbal slugfests - (some things never change)

    TTK vs. Cousteau

    TTK vs. Natalie Lee

DL Gates - a truly remarkable gentleman

    Rya's suicide attempt

The old compilation of dealer's photo websites that had a stoplight(?) symbol next to it (red, yellow or green) indicating whether they were trustworthy or not

  9. I tried the guy, I dunno...I paid him $95 to fix a broken rotor, at least that's what he told me was the problem. I thought it was a bit too expensive.

When I began to ask him some questions, whether he replaced the seals and silicone greased them, he got defensive and did a lot of backtalking, I don't care for that.

Sorry but I know a few things about watch repair and if I ask questions, it's my right.

Sigh, I'm going back to my guy up in Vernon Hills I guess, 1 hr. drive each way.
