offshore
This posted on ebay Oz tonite. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/VINTAGE-1950S-ROLEX...:1|293:1|294:50 That is $400 Australian- around U$350. Be interesting to see if it gets bid up much, but would be nice buying at those $$. Sounds like a gold case as well. "Hallmarks" And I'm sure we could find a new cyclops for it. (Did they have cyclops?) Offshore
trailboss
Nice looking watch but the story sounds a bit too familier. Very much like a standered scam story. May very well not be of cause. Mind you, Rolex inspected it and didn't examine the MVT? Someone ask her for pics of the report from Rolex. Col.
offshore
You know Col, I read her feedback, and actually believe the story! Like you, I am normally sceptical on these claims, but this one rings true. Will be interesting to see where it goes, I may even have a snipe at it at the end. trailboss
The watch certainly looks real enough. At worst it's a parts bin franken so if it goes for anything near 400 it's a steal. Bit old for my tastes in this style but a nice find. It's just I'v seen that type of story soooo often. Good luck! Col.
automatico
It looks to be a genuine watch but the gold filled or gold plated case is worn out. If the movement is Ok (probably a 1215)...that is about all you get, plus dial/hands. If you had a 6694 and wanted a spare movement, it would be worth a try. 1215 = 18000 bph 1225 = 21600 bph (later model) Both are 17 jewel, slow set, manual winders. If you wanted to buy a case and put this movement in it...Monster Time (Alvin Lye) in Singapore usually has a 6694 case. http://www.monster-time.com/rolex_cases.asp
