mene_menelaou Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 (edited) Hi! The title says it all. Does anyone of you swaped the UPO 21J movement of WatchEden with a SWISS ETA 2824? Here is the watch http://www.watcheden.com/omega-seamaster-p...-14553-p-1.html Also, are there any visual diferences of this and the more expensive UPO with ETA Clone movement? Regards! Hi...The date window on that model's dial will not line up with the date wheel on the 2824. As for the visual differences 1. The hands are too short 2. The HE valve is too big 3. The pearl is all wrong 4. No serial number 5. The bezel sits flat against the watch case That's just the visual differences...spend a little more and go for the UPO every time!
blackhawk92 Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 So Wayward, you are saying that getting the version with the ETA movement - ie the more expensive rep - is worth it not just for the movement but for the accuracy of various elements and components as well? Is this typical or peculiar to the PO line? I'm also looking at Omegas from WatchEden but not Planet Ocean, and am curious to better understand what I'm getting if I invest more in the ones with ETA clone movements. Your insight is appreciated!
apowers Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 So Wayward, you are saying that getting the version with the ETA movement - ie the more expensive rep - is worth it not just for the movement but for the accuracy of various elements and components as well? Is this typical or peculiar to the PO line? Exactly On best seller watches, like the PO (or the Sub), the ETA movement are usualy made for the best case, best dial etc. But there are still many many many differents versions of the same watch. Chinese can build a true 1:1 copy, without any problem. But they never do that, simply because profits are there main concern. If you wanted the best Deep Sea Dweller, you bought the first rep. 2 years later, there are 5th generation of those...the lastest being not perfect. Concerning your post, wait til you can buy a PO...2824 worth it.
