gavidoc
In my urge to build a franken 9411, It's looking like I'm going to have the lucky fortune of both a black and a blue snowflake dial but I've only got one set of original snowflake hands. For those who have purchased them before, how do the classicwatchparts snowflake hands compare to the yuki hands, or do I have to look at getting both sets to make the perfect set? Thanks,
ubiquitous
I wouldn't bother with the CWP's or Yuki hands... Stick with gen
gavidoc
I wouldn't bother with the CWP's or Yuki hands... Stick with gen Hey Ubi, I agree. I lucked out on my gen set. everyone else I know wants $400 or more for them. That's why I'm entertaining the yuki or cwp's as a temp fix. Don't get me started on gen blue inserts. Rare as hens teeth and when they pop up, astronomical prices. Was offered one that was barely legible and you couldn't even see it was blue. Guy wanted $300 for it. Yeah right. ubiquitous
Yeah... Those blue inserts are ridiculously high! For that one, I probably would advise using a CWP part, as their inserts are well done. Just pop their acrylic pearl out and fit a gen pearl. Sufficient to get you by until a good one pops up at a reasonable price. As for the hands- I had a set of CWP's hands come in and they just didn't cut it. The hour hand is mishapen at the diamond, the minute hand is too wide and the seconds hand is too thick, the wrong shape and the back end tail is just too short. Gen is definitely the way to go on the hands, especially if you are using a nice gen dial! The last few that I've seen were within reason- $250 for SL and $340 for a set of cream colored tritium (one small minor crack in the minute). I can see if they are still available if you'd like? marc jacobs
I have yuki hand set with dial, it is OK in USD 160 this reasonable price for replacement item. Only the second hand they didn't have diamond cut.
