polexpete Posted August 27, 2009 Report Posted August 27, 2009 Hiya all, just wondering has any of our dealers ever offered decent rep of the Navitimer 50th anniversary model.... Cheers P.
andreww Posted August 27, 2009 Report Posted August 27, 2009 There are two versions available... The old manual wind Seagull based version And a 7750 based version Lots of problems with both of these, most notably, wrong subdial spacing, and the lack of date on the Seagull, and the wrong color date on the 7750. Like the Fighters version, the case should be brushed, but it comes polished on both models. Here's the gen for comparison
polexpete Posted August 27, 2009 Author Report Posted August 27, 2009 Thanks Andreww, i got hold of a gen dial so was thinking of building one with a eta7753 but will be needing the correct caseback. Checked Kings website but non listed, maybe i'll drop her a line see if she has some old stock. As always thanks again for your help P.
andreww Posted August 27, 2009 Report Posted August 27, 2009 Wont work. The gen does not use a 7753 movement. Subdial spacing is all wrong.
polexpete Posted August 27, 2009 Author Report Posted August 27, 2009 Mmmm interesting, does it use the 7740? no wonder the dial only cost 30 bucks Cheers P.
andreww Posted August 27, 2009 Report Posted August 27, 2009 Mmmm interesting, does it use the 7740? no wonder the dial only cost 30 bucks Cheers P. Nope, uses an ETA 2892A2, or as it is called by Breitling "Cal 41".
polexpete Posted August 28, 2009 Author Report Posted August 28, 2009 well no chance of seeing one of those for sale that's for sure, strange movement to use as a base... Thanks again Andreww P.
andreww Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 I wonder if the 7750 movement they are using in the new UPO Chrono would fit? It's supposed to emulate a 2892, but who knows if the spacing is perfect? Of course the dial feet wouldn't fit either.
Pugwash Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 well no chance of seeing one of those for sale that's for sure, strange movement to use as a base... The 2894 is a very normal movement to use as a base. It's better and slimmer than a 7753. Just look at the number of seconds-at-three watches out there, like the Monaco or the Speedy reduced.
