ETA 2824 unwinds through the weight

I seem to remember hearing that this is a symptom of some sort. I have an ETA2824 that when wound past a certain amount spins the autowinder's weight around, reducing the power reserve to a matter of a few hours.

Does anyone know off the top of their head if this is an easy fix? I have no problem diving a certain distance into the back of an ETA as long as I don't have to get to the main spring or the drive train after the escapement. I know my limits. :)

And yes, if I keep on going like this, there will come a point where I can completely strip a 28xx, but that day is not today.

I've heard it's an anti-reversing gear that gets gummed up or stuck. Sorry I can't help you with how to fix it but apparently it's a fairly common problem, particularly with the A7750s. I have one in the shop right now.

There was a thread about the 7750 problem here somewhere (Francisco, I think) and that one looked like a [censored] to fix. Hopefully the 2824 series isn't so bad.
