A ladies or mid-size would likely work well, however if your wrists are only 5.5", you may want to opt for the ladies size as the bracelet can be adjusted to a size suitable for your wrist; the mid-size bracelet may not have enough removable links to allow for a good fit, and you may need to have some permanent links removed to allow for a proper fit (unless you like your watches really really loose).

As for movements- The 2671 is a small (7.75 ligne) movement with date, whereas the 2836 is a larger (11.5 ligne) movement. Both beat at 28.8bph, have 25j and are fairly robust. Servicing should be about the same for each, and parts should be available for both.

Bracelets are a sort of personal preference... I myself prefer Oyster (as does my wife) as it looks the cleanest. Jubilee are kinda rickety in my opinion, but they're probably a little more comfortable due to the linkage. President style is a combo between the two in my opinion. Similar linkage as the Oyster, but smaller links. Might be a decent compromise between Oyster and Jubilee. Bezels are also a personal style pref. I like the smooth bezels for their simplicity and because they are also easier to keep clean. Fluted bezels can tend to trap gunk in their ridges over time.

Best of luck in your search! When all else fails... Buy both

I would ditto most of Ubiquitous's comments.

The 2671-2 is just a tad over 17mm in diameter, whereas the 2836 is considerably larger at 25.6mm in diameter.

I think jubilee bracelets look nicer on most women, but it is up to your personal taste. I am also 1 of those who prefer all steel vs two-tone (combination of steel with yellow gold highlights) or all yellow gold (that goes for both men's & women's models). And, to answer your question about bezels (the part that fits around the crystal), fluted bezels tend to go better with jubilee bracelets & smooth bezels go better with Oyster (President) style bracelets.

To reduce the likelihood of your watch being outted as a fake, I would avoid jewels, yellow gold & any features you do not absolutely need. Were it me, I would get a steel ladies Datejust with a handsome silver dial, classic stick hour markers, fluted bezel & jubilee bracelet. I seriously doubt anyone will call you out while wearing this (as long as you look like you can afford a $5k Rolex watch)

This watch will look great with jeans, that little black dress, heels, flats, whatever. At worst, people might see you & think to themselves - 'Oh, I guess she could not afford a gold 1.' In other words, they will just assume the watch is genuine.

Thanks to both of you for your thoughtful resposes! It will help in narrowing down my decisions. More than anything I was wanted to learn more about the 2671-2, Just to know what the difference was.

Something about the silver dial with stainless steel just appeals to me so much-it looks so tasteful and timeless. I wouldn't get all that other flashy stuff even if I could afford it in the gen

I tend to prefer the more understated appearance of sticks. To me, Romans, especially on a small watch dial, looks a bit too cluttered. But I am sure that you would be very happy with either 1. If you really want to ice the cake, have the crown & tube replaced with gen parts ($150-$200)

This will both increase the usable lifespan of the watch & give it a bit of the tactile feel you only get from genuine Rolex parts.

Just do not forget to post some wristies after it arrives.
