New watch question

Hi guys-

I'm pretty new to the forum, been "lurking" a bit and reading up on watches. I ordered a Montblanc Timewalker Chrono from prowatch-polo and received it today. The watch looks and feels great, and is running fine after a few small turns of the crown, but the rotor for the automatic winder appears to be stuck. I don't want to bang the watch around to see if I can get it loose. I'm wondering if it is supposed to be stationary for shipment and there is something I need to do to get it moving or did I get a defective watch? I've sent Polo an email to see what they say, and their communication has been good through the process so I'm sure they'll reply, but wanted to get some of your insight on this. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me! I love the watch and I'm hooked, but I want to make sure everything is working as it should.

That sucks Rawker.. If I were you I'd contact the seller directly to communicate the problem. The answer to your question is, no, the rotor shouldn't be stuck. It should be rotating freely around in the display caseback. If it's not turning then it's either stuck from friction or not connected properly. You might have to return the watch for a new one, or if you have a watchmaker/repairman near you, you can take it there to see what they say. My first outlet would definitely be to contact the seller though.

my 3 cents

Thanks guys! Polo replied to me this morning and asked me to ship the watch back, on his dime. Other than receiving a defective watch (which I know will happen from time to time), I am impressed with their customer service thus far and will keep you posted on when I get the watch back. Maybe I'll even try my hand at getting some shots of it to post :thumbsupsmileyanim:

quick update - I decided to open the case back to see if it would move then, and sure enough the seal wasn't lined up properly, which is what the rotor weight was getting hung up on. Got that lined up and closed it back up and everything is looking good! I tried taking some photos with my phone but they didn't come out right so I'll have to get some later with my camera. Thanks guys! and thanks to Polo for the good service!
