asciwhite Posted December 26, 2009 Report Share Posted December 26, 2009 I bought a cheapo Comex from Silix. When I got it the movment was broken, so I have ordered an a2813 to replace it. Thought I should make a project of this watch. However I do not know what to do? What crystal can I put in this? can I change dial and hands? and after that I would like to rough it up to vintage standards. But if it just a fantasy watch I wont bother Pictures enclosed! trailboss Posted December 26, 2009 Report Share Posted December 26, 2009 Should be able to get a Clarks crystal to fit it for starters, somone will know exactly which. A trip thru the oven on low heat will age the dial and hands nicly and a good shake up in a plastic bottle full of rocks will do wonders for the looks of the case. Plastic crystal of a 1665 SD (or comex), dial of a 16800- matte w/ no wg surrounds, but not a very good dial at that. Good news is you have lugholes and a correct vintage type bracelet. Don't know if you have an HE valve or not. And being a CN rep, changing out the crystal is going to be hit or miss. Don't know if a 30.5mm sapphire crystal would fit- at that point you could run w/ the 16800 Comex look w/ a hard crystal. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Wonder if this project is worth pursuing? So! Need dial & hands + crystal. Need to find hands that will fit on a 2813... Still trying to decide what to build out of 'em... The "COMEX" logo is all wrong so I'm thinking aon one I may try to make a decal with the correct logo and try to "fix" it...
